doublevr With the every new headset hitting the market there will be even more demand for PT
This makes the assumption that, given better passthrough cameras in the headset, everyone would want PT scenes. Sure, there are bound to be people here on Quest 2 who want to upgrade to Quest 3 so they can have better passthrough and will value and want PT content when they do. But there are people who don't want PT at all because they don't like the concept and are not interested in it. I'm one of them. How many people are there like me? I don't know. Without doing some actual audience research, neither does SLR. Likes aren't necessarily a reliable metric; I enjoy plenty of videos, but I have 'liked' precisely one scene in my time on here. It's not something I reflexively do because, in all honesty, I'm over 30 (and then some) and I didn't grow up on social media apps.
Also, fans of a thing make more noise about that thing. PT fans will make lots of noise about how great PT is and how there should be more of it and more 'realism'. PT non-fans don't necessarily spend lots of energy saying that they don't like it, because they don't want to harsh some else's mellow. But I think if you ever got to the point of saying 'all content will be PT by default' (not that I think you will, but for the sake of argument) then plenty of people would come out of the woodwork to say that they don't want that. I'm quite sure of that.
This is potentially the most polarising debate in VR porn. It hasn't gone that far yet because so far, no-one with the power to make it happen has suggested either getting rid of non-PT or getting rid of PT. We should be able to co-exist. But if the assumption is that we're just waiting for better headset tech and then PT/AR will eventually be the standard, I'm pretty sure some people will have a big problem with that.
