albertleder Quest 3: 8/10

I agree. It would be 9/10 if it had a quantum dot layer. At this price point in should have had a quantum dot layer.

Heard the quest 3 lite will be with same lenses as q2, no color pass through, will come with no controllers but will have new chip as q3.

They say this it but not for sure.

But wtf, no color pass through? And same lenses as q2, my guess they just trying to get as much people to buy vr cuz they say it will 200 to 300$ its got the new chip, so probably at sum point q2 won't even be supported anymore.

Also I heard sum q3 users are saying they don't know if they got a defective pass through, I've notice some reviewers showing pass through look better then others, one video I saw guys pass through had a lot of grain.

Video q3 pt discussion

My guess, probably got tossed around maybe dropped during delivery. 🤷‍♂️

Vrsumo2017 Yeah, really hate they are making this headset. It will only keep back VR and give newcomers a sub par experience. All developers will also have to take that crappy headset into account when we finally have a decent Quest they should be targeting.

What I wished they would focus on instead is an actual quest pro (based on the quest 3 and unlike the first quest pro actually pro lol). With better passthrough, Oled, resolution and maybe they can even get a little more FOV. I really like the quest 3 but would buy a pro version like that in a heartbeat.

Vrsumo2017 I heard otherwise, same crap fresnel lenses as Q2, but perhaps with better resolution panels.

I agree with Sadlyitsbradley (YouTube) take. Really boring and bad direction Meta is taking things, if true about releasing a Quest Lite and axing plans for a Pro 2 anytime soon. Bottom of the barrel experiences for children people have been having for years instead of releasing a Quest Pro 2 with OLED and high res.

Quest Pro 1 failed because of horrific marketing about using work apps, and for putting junky resolution LCD panels into a $1,500 HMD.

If Meta were smart and released a device that was actually high end and compelling, like a Quest Pro 2 with 4k per eye resolution uOLED panels and a nice chipset and form factor, people would actually start to see VR's potential. Even if they sold way less than the regular Quest series (which they would), it would give them competitive product presence at a higher tier and be a good "cheaper" alternative to Apples device. Even priced at say, $1,750, it would be half the cost.

As a Quest 3 fan, Meta sure manages to screw up product line decisions frequently which is why their VR division has lost billions of dollars. I want them to succeed.

How much battery life yall getting using the pass through with pt videos?

Q3 PT eats battery life. I get maybe like 1 to 1.5 hours. Worth it tho. PT is incredible

I wish meta would make a Quest 3 Pro. With better collors and like 3k per eye. These lenses are amazing. Quest 3 lite looks trash.

Vrsumo2017 yeah I have returned it but will give it a few weeks and then but it again. Hopefully by that time amazon will have stocked up with a new batch. I'm a little disappointed to be honest as I think overall the performance uplift and sharpness are definitely worth the upgrade.

Slrlabs? Any update or review on the quest 3? What the verdict on yalls end?

ernesto90354 Yeah, even if they drop the official Pro idea, where they are targeting that upper tier to compete with Apple I think they could release a mid tier called "Quest 3 Max" or "Quest 3 Ultra", have it be $999, with 2.5k+ per eye micro OLED (same cost and specs but better lenses and sweet spot than the Bigscreen Beyond, which failed in those respects). I'd buy that shit.

Lol quest 3, now with better hand wacking!!

Fine. Way better than Quest 2 but not mind-blowing.

          Vrsumo2017

Very very bad battery with PT, especially if you use any sharpen or brightness settings. You get like 60min-90min depending on how often you're changing vids or messing with settings, if you start with a 100% battery.

Without PT def lasts much longer, more like 2.5 hours, which imo is more than enough time, any longer and it starts getting insanely uncomfortable.

Does someone here maybe have a side by side comparison between Quest 3 DeoVR via Link/SteamVR and Quest 3 DeoVR native?

I always have had a sharper image with PC (with Quest 2 and Pro) and would be really curious if it's the same with the Quest 3 (:

Does anyone know why Quest 3 won’t play the “original” files from VRAllure, VRHush, or FuckPassVR? Early videos from these studios work just fine and can be streamed from SLR. However, Quest 3 doesn’t seem able to stream any of the newer films via AirLink and DeoVR.
