After a couple days with q3, couple quick observations, not night and day but image quality definitely a little bit better. For me the increased fov really does wonders. Not a whole lot more than q2 but that extra little bit gives you a better perspective of the surroundings and and you are able to judge things like the girls height and other things like that better (especially if it's from a voyeur perspective) as you are able to see that much more of the picture without having to zoom out. I'm actually in the minority that prefer nonpov over pov and the few scenes ive sampled really gives it a different feeling, especially with 6dof as you can move your eyes around and feel as if you're sitting there looking around the room without having to move your head for certain angles, whereas on q2 that narrowed fov gives it more of a cramped feeling.

The extra fov also helps in pov as well, as lets say in squatting cowgirl whereas quest 2 might cutoff in the middle of each of the girls knees, you can see both clearly with a little space on each side (all speaking in default picture settings, not having to zoom out or adjust horizontal offset). If you're a fan of voyeur/nonpov you will really like the upgrades (can imagine it's the same in gaming when walking through large rooms or areas). The color passthrough is pretty awesome but like others have said, the brighter your room is the clearer things will be. The adjusters on the headstrap are not as cheap as q2, but strap itself not much better comfort wise. It's not to the point where it's hyper realistic, but a lot easier to get lost and "immersed" in it imho, definitely a noticeable upgrade over q2.

I'm not sure why, but I'm finding the Quest 3 is an upgrade to my HP Reverb and my Pico 4 as well. The pass through is miles ahead of the Pico 4.

I don't understand the tech aspect enough to know it seems better (pixel count is about the same, yes?).

I shelled out the extra $$ and got the 512 version.

I really hate that I like it so much, because now I need to deal with the Meta-Verse.

I also don't like, in order to use Steam, the complexity of dealing with Meta Link and then having to first load the old Oculus interface (or whatever it's called), and then loading in Steam

But for just using SLR, which doesn't require Steam, it's great and I 100% recommend it over all the headsets I've had -- HP Reverb, Rift, Rift S, Samsung Odyssey, and Pico 4 (I think that's it).

      mebejoe Pico 4

In dim light which on is grainer pico or quest 3?

Say you just had a lamp on in your room and no light from outside windows, which one looks the grainest?

Vrsumo2017 my understanding was that he was saying the camera should move closer so you could really zoom in close on a blowjob rather than watch it from a realistic distance.

I’ve no issue with models leaning in closer, that’s totally different. The doggy style thing you mention where she kneels up and leans back is fine but I wouldn’t want the whole doggy section shot like that. I’m an ass guy so I like to see the girls ass too and doggy is the best position for that when the girl is fully bent over, face down, ass up!

sylvan I think the main difference is that zooming will move the girl (and your virtual dick) closer towards you while increasing the horizontal offset a little will make the girl appear bigger but will not change her position.

Man, anyone know about this quest lite coming later? I'm thinking another quest GO but just for media players, web browsers and better pass through, what else would it be, a liter quest? 🤦‍♂️

Vrsumo2017 this quest lite coming later

What's also coming later, according to my local Amazon, is the 512 GB Q3. Available in 3 to 7 months. How do they come up with these numbers? If one of the two guys who build it gets run over by a car, it will take twice as long but better add another month just to be safe? 😃

SchnuppiLilac What's also coming later, according to my local Amazon, is the 512 GB Q3.

Not sure where you are. I'm in the US. It's available here now. I got mine from Amazon delivered two days ago.

Zooming in distorts the video. It warps it and destroys the quality. It’ll make it closer but you sacrifice quality/resolution. Zooming out makes it crisper and sharper but it also makes it less immersive and is more like you’re in the room watching her bang some other dude and it takes you out of first person. The horizontal offset just shifts the image equally left or right so it doesn’t affect quality, from what I understand.

mebejoe I am farther away from the source. I assume that Meta is prioritising the US market before other regions. Here, it was not available on release day and today I saw these ridiculously high numbers (better order now if you want to have it for Xmas 2024). Seems that also the people who pre-ordered didn't get one so far. Situation for the 128 GB version is much better and I will most likely go for that one anyway.

Hurto11 I'm a chronic zoomer-outer (not all the way but halfway between default and max zoom out) as I prefer the clarity. Clarity adds immersion, scale adds immersion, so its personal preference.

mebejoe I have the G2 too and agree the Q3 is better. When you do the math they have very close to the same resolution, but the PANCAKE LENSES are a big deal. Pancakes only for me, from now on. Now we just desperately need OLED and Jack that res up to 3500×3500 per eye or better. 🙂 The latter will only be in high end devices for awhile obviously, but I'm calling OLED with 2500x2500+ for Quest 4 now.

After playing around with it for a couple days, I changed my mind. It's way better than Q2 in every way. My first run through I didn't have it on my face the way it should be, and didn't have some of settings where I like them. Quality is better and so is FOV as well as overall performance. You can sharpen/brigten the video and not lose FPS like you would with Q2. color passthrough is great. Sure a bit grainy (haven't tried it outdoors in daylight yet), but like night and day over Q2 which was super dark, grey and couldn't even move around clearly. With this I could go about my day like normal, read text messages, etc. with no issue. Couldn't do that before.

Still has a ways to go, and I think Apple's headset is going to totally shatter PT as we know it, it's going to be absolutley incredible...unfortunately not something any of us could really afford. Even if I could, not sure I would feel good about it. If it was 1k I'd consider it, but 3.5k? Hell no. Even if it's the real deal.

Having spent several hours in the pas few days, with the Quest 3, I've come to an exciting conclusion: it's a massive leap forward from my previous devices. In this review, ill dive into the Quest 3's incredible improvements and how it stacks up against the Pimax 8KX and G2 Reverb. I have even, revisiting older videos with the Quest 3 has been an eye-opening experience ..they look significantly better(Watching 8K videos on platforms like SLR and CzechVR feels incredibly real with the Quest 3, especially those up-close moments.)

                    Clarity and Sweet Spot:
What sets the Quest 3 apart is its remarkable clarity, and it's all thanks to those pancake lenses. But here's the kicker – the sweet spot covers the entire field of view unlike the Reverb or 8KX, creating an unparalled sense of presence
                    Field of View (FOV):
Way better than G2 Reverb. Less than 8KX in theory but feels way better coz the 8KX is warping and somehow unpleasant and not very clear. Wheres here the entire FOV is clear.
Eye Comfort: Way better than either. I used to spend 2 hours in 8KX and my eyes hurt all day. With Q3 none of that.
                    Mixed Reality Passthrough:
This feature is a killer. U can have the girl in ur room , on ur bed, creating another level of immersion for me. this feature is really cool.
                    Overall Ratings:
                    Quest 3: 8/10
                    Pimax 8KX: 5/10
                    Reverb G2: 4/10

albertleder Glad to hear this. Did you test quest3 with pcvr mode?l think maybe av1 helps a lot it brings the same effect with half bitrates
