I am still using a quest 1 so I am definitely upgrading.
The only concern for me is that all my previous low quality downloads are going to be so pixelated they look like minecraft

curious when they say more realistic color passthrough, anyone know if it's stereoscopic color passthrough or black and white with a separate mono color camera adding the "color" layer?
My Pimax Crystal (2880 x 2880 per eye, 35 PPD with 42 PPD lenses coming eventually) is paid for.. awaiting shipment.. but Quest 2 got me into real VR, besides the first step of quickly testing on those cheap, basic cell phone based ones. So it's nice to see an update to the Quest, even though rumors seem to be that it won't be a significant upgrade as far as pixel count, PPD, clarity goes. That's why I went with the Pimax Crystal. I'd still likely recommend this Quest 3 for new users getting into VR though. Although I don't like the Facebook account requirements.
Apple Reality Pro (or Reality One) is supposed to be announced in a few days at WDCC, June 5 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. Supposed to have around about 4k x 4k resolution per eye, $3000 price tag, standalone or probably only work with apple computers or maybe apple phones. Also unsure you're going to get that full 4k x 4k native. Assuming it could be upscaled or foveated rendering, where only the middle is full clarity and beyond that is progressively more blurry (whether you would notice this or not, since it's in your peripheral vision, I don't know). We'll see in a few days.
To add some other opinions.. In case some readers are deciding what to get.. Until the Pimax Crystal shows up, I recommend the HP Reverb G2 if you have PC. I prefer the better clarity and light weight over the higher FOV (field of view) Pimax 8KX, which I also have, so I'm not just talking from guesses or what I've read. Other people may prefer the higher field of view, but to me.. clarity is king.. as long as the FOV isn't stupidly small.
fenderwq I sold my Pico 4 cause the FOV was too big a compromise compared to my Pimax 8kx
"too big a compromise"
I don't think you understood what he meant. He meant the Pico 4 FOV was to small.
rerun119 I sold my Pico 4 cause the FOV was too big
Lol, yeah I thought he ment his Pico 4 was to big, bigger then pimax, lol I was confused too, like but I thought pimax bigger then Pico , lol
Vrsumo2017 Hahah, no no, the 8kx is a anything but small. Still think it's more comfortable to wear strangely enough. I just hate the back strap of that thing. Apple is going to place the battery in your pocket so I hope that will set a trend.
TemporaryName Although I don't like the Facebook account requirements.
They got rid of that, you just need to sign up with an email
They still collecting data tho
TemporaryName $3000 price tag, standalone or probably only work with apple computers or maybe apple phones.
I wonder if a plan will be available like phones, pay monthly for headset and connection like internet and maybe use it like a phone, vr on the go.
Gearvr was on the go as long as you had internet on your phone.
They also should have the vr headsets in the cell phone area, I think they will there a phone company be stupid if they don't.
At bestbuy the q2 qpro all by its self with its lonesome, you walk buy it nothing says OH LOOK VR! LOOK WHAT YOU CAN DO! it's just there can't even sample it. SMH
I bet apple gonna market the shit out of it. But for 3000$ and wired battery at the waist side? Nah I'm good. For that price and wired I'd be fine with a gear vr.
I am curious how the pass through will look tho. But wired up battery kills it for me.
Bucket619 Pico 4
I like it, very clear bigger fov, very fast loading apps too, I'm kinda use to the battery in back but I'm still not in to it especially for laying cg rcg, I started off with gearvr for my first vr and I just got it for vr porn lol but man I had so much fun with it with vrp, felt light, battery lasted hours, then I upgraded to q2, difference was it was heavier on the face and had ring lenses but no battery in back, so switching to Pico 4 with battery in back for me was just horrible at first, I got in laying position and was just like AH HELL NAW, moving my head up and down battery rubbing on pillow SMH , but I figured a way to use it with less discomfort between battery and pillow, but luckily q3 staying strapped! Can't wait!
Vrsumo2017 ohhhh yes i can see that happening, i love the wireless and dont mind the battery only because i am alway in the sitting position and i guess just imagine im laying down during any laying riding scenes as i dont have any other way to get my fleshlight over to the bed
. i too am i xcited for the q3 and so happy with the pico 4 and how much more amazing it is than the vive i was using
Vrsumo2017 They still collecting data tho
every company does.. including pico and pimax
Quest 3 looks like a good product. It's just a shame that for those of us into VR there are so few companies to deal with, either Meta/Facebook or ByteDance/TikTok. Apple is out of range for most folks who don't use VR as part of their profession. BigScreen's headset requires lightbox tracking and a powerful PC, in addition to lots of extra time to set up.
While Color Passthrough might be neat, I would prefer had they spent their money on better screens. Rumour has it that the screens are very poor. The Depth Sensor will be more useful than the Pass Through. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I use VR as a television alternative, so the new push for gaming really doesn't appeal to me.

What! Ah G that's sound bad to me, laying in your own bed in laying cg rcg, one of the best ways to watch laying positions, I mostly watch laying down and watch all positions like that, but in pt I might get up now for doggy, missionary and seated. I hardly ever did until the pt options rolled out.
But yeah G when you get the q3, strapped, and able to lay down. Game changer
spacepirate lol I was gonna say that too.
Vrsumo2017 what do you use to hold up /bring along your fleshlight toy to work over by the bed?
The quest 3 looks pretty dope - can't wait to try the passthrough videos on it
Also on amazon UK for the Brits like me
Despite the quest 3 and vison pro,the vr development is slow, especially the pcvr. .any chance of the next hp reverb and value index ?
theHobbit but in dim lighting tho? That's what I wanna see, what it look like in dim light. I have two lights in my room, my ceiling light and my lamp light, I normally using my lamp light.
With quest 2 in pt, just using my lamp light lit up my whole room even tho it was Grey and I also could turn off my lamp and just leave my PC monitor on in the bg and it look like we in the dark having wake up early am sex.
With the pico 4, if i just use my lamp light it works but it's fuzzy looking, the darker the room gets the fuzzeir it is. Just using my PC light doesn't work at all it looks way to fuzzy.
What it look like in dim light, is what I want to know...but if I never find out, I'm still buying it
Vrsumo2017 yeah you are right, I reckon it will be a kind of fuzzy colour version of quest 2, similar to when you take photos in dim light on your phone. I am getting it too.
I actually never thought about the lighting, but you are right I use a dim light for watching PT on my quest 2 that's why the great background is not that much of an issue as it just feels like dark shadows and kinda what you expect if you know what I mean.
I'm still getting one too lol
