My Pimax Crystal (2880 x 2880 per eye, 35 PPD with 42 PPD lenses coming eventually) is paid for.. awaiting shipment.. but Quest 2 got me into real VR, besides the first step of quickly testing on those cheap, basic cell phone based ones. So it's nice to see an update to the Quest, even though rumors seem to be that it won't be a significant upgrade as far as pixel count, PPD, clarity goes. That's why I went with the Pimax Crystal. I'd still likely recommend this Quest 3 for new users getting into VR though. Although I don't like the Facebook account requirements.
Apple Reality Pro (or Reality One) is supposed to be announced in a few days at WDCC, June 5 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. Supposed to have around about 4k x 4k resolution per eye, $3000 price tag, standalone or probably only work with apple computers or maybe apple phones. Also unsure you're going to get that full 4k x 4k native. Assuming it could be upscaled or foveated rendering, where only the middle is full clarity and beyond that is progressively more blurry (whether you would notice this or not, since it's in your peripheral vision, I don't know). We'll see in a few days.
To add some other opinions.. In case some readers are deciding what to get.. Until the Pimax Crystal shows up, I recommend the HP Reverb G2 if you have PC. I prefer the better clarity and light weight over the higher FOV (field of view) Pimax 8KX, which I also have, so I'm not just talking from guesses or what I've read. Other people may prefer the higher field of view, but to me.. clarity is king.. as long as the FOV isn't stupidly small.
