Will65 I'm pretty damn critical of SLR, but I think they got this one right. I was even tempted to compose a comment about what was right in the scene, since they have protested that we should do that more than complain.
This means alot more especially coming from your standards @Will65 !

Seemed quite blurry and over-sharpened from the streaming version but I've downloaded so will review. In terms of angles, a mixed bag - it bugs the shit out of me when a director changes camera-cock distance like they do here, as they nail the placement and then decide to move the camera 6-12 inches further back - why! Don't just eyeball that shit, use some kind of workflow which ensures consistency.
From what I recall, there was a BJ angle and lay-back CG that were perfect, just a really nice fucking view, so it'll be a case of skipping the parts that don't work for me I think and appreciating the stuff which they got right. Often the case with SLRO scenes these days.
muSLR Just to put some perspective to it: this isn't really how casting/shoots work for us. Might be different for other studios/sites, but we (basically) have a team that shoots in FL, a team that shoots in LA, and a team the travels between LA and Vegas.
With virtually any casting that is booked and shot, it's not a matter of "why did X team shoot it instead of Y or Z team?" - it's a matter of "if X team doesn't shoot it, we may not have another chance for months" based on booking schedules, performer's travel schedules and availability dates, our own teams' travel schedules, etc.
And as always - a scene by any one director/team does not preclude the performer being shot again by another team.
justsomedude101 In that case I do apologize for making the assumption, I understand that the availability of resources does dictate the "who shoots what" problem. Perhaps it is a good idea for the teams to synchronize their knowledge & production methods to create a more consistent final product? Just trying to be constructive here, sorry if I come off too critical. I do hold SLR at a way higher standard comparing to other studios because I have seen the quality of content that you guys are capable of producing.
vrpicasso The scene does not look blurry/over-sharpened to me, must be just streamed versions with lower quality. . . My issue is with camera placement and angles, as you said, they are extremely inconsistent, having to constantly adjust my sitting position/zoom/camera position and even then some times the angle still doesn't work. Meh, maybe I'm being too critical, but MAN I was really hoping for perfection for this scene like the HazelTreat one with Hazel Moore.. My GOD that scene was a 12/10 for me.

it does reduce the likelihood of a performer being shot by another team though because (a) that performer now has a recent slro scene under their belt and there obviously has to be some variety and (b) if the first team butchered the scene and it didnt get enough likes then there is little chance of the performer being booked again

A huge percentage of performers we've shot with have multiple scenes with us. We don't really tend to think this way when it comes to casting, since with the full release pipeline a scene shot today may not come out for several months.

TBH not really something I've heard discussed internally before. We look at a lot of factors when it comes to casting, not just how a single scene performs. And regardless - Riley's scene is not performing "poorly" at all.

Strange - one of things I would complement from this shoot is the clarity. I was even thinking that they may want to go lighter on make-up, as heavy scene makeup dates to a time when resolution and clarity were much lower (like stage makeup, meant to be viewed from a distance). I thought the picture was so clear that I could see the makeup a bit too well, and I have never been a fan of heavily made-up girls.

And yet on the Tru Kait thread, there was @doublevr arguing that he didn't want to book Tru Kait because her scenes didn't get enough likes to justify her rate (even though her scenes are some of the top-rated on the site).
Correct, because her rate is "roughly 2x of high rates" as he put it, or in other words "pretty damn high". Not really the standard scenario with the significant majority of performers tbh.

Ok, I just watched the scene. Overall I liked it. It's my kind of scenario. She is a good actress, and hot. I liked the slow build.
A couple of questions.
Why does the scene description not match what is in the scene? The description says that it is your girlfriend that you are Rekindled Desire with her. The actual story in the scene is that you have never seen her naked before. She's a crush. Both are good stories. But I start with what I read and then slowly start to change in my mind who she is to me.

The changing of the camera in the middle of a position is not a good thing but I can deal with it. (It must suck with PT). The bigger thing I think is that the camera is not level to the ground. It makes the image weird. It's a lot harder to get the picture back to the upright position.
You should have a little bubble level taped to the top of the camera. They are really small. All you have to do is look and see if it is straight up and down.

Once he's back from his trip, SLR should totally set up a 'Nash Masterclass' for all the other directors. This could be a great way to avoid these consistent gaps in production. Having downloaded the scene and given it a proper look, no it's not blurry (that was the streaming version) but it was high contrast and oversharp, IMHO. You can't fix a heavy baked in look where you have crushed blacks (in this case) or blown highlights (in other scenes) although the main problem with this scene was less the grade and more the lack of soft flattering light. I'm all for effective use of shadows but this was inconsistent and sloppy, like the inconsistent camera placement (that final off-center angle WTF! But by no means a disaster, it's a 7/10 scene for me, and hopefully the team can learn and grow. Lighting and camera placement are areas for improvement.
FWIW if someone had told me 10 years ago that one day I'd be critiquing the cinematography in a porn scene like it's the latest Coen Brothers movie I'd have laughed my tits off.
vrpicasso its all facts though. tbh we shouldnt be having to tell a "professional" how to do their job.. but here we are. they should be watching this stuff themselves to learn from mistakes and improve.
