biZZler They've taken some control back and I love that for them. They work hard, and deserve some of that sweet, sweet passive income.

Just means we have to be cleverer and offer better working conditions and opportunities. I may be a producer but I'm still a pro-labor lefty and, in porn, the worker IS the means of production.

Mutiny I agree, but we won't see the fruits of all that for a while. The only reason things seem so bad right now is cause the industry didn't adapt fast enough or foresee these things from a mile away even though it was an obvious threat to the existing business model. Covid didn't help either. It just made the shift a lot more faster than it should have been.

Mutiny no judgment intended in my post. I’m not saying SLR haven’t made the right decision to protect themselves, I’m just saying that, where they draw the line on compliance, does affect other studios and the content they make.

I do understand that the line is, in some cases, drawn for them by financial institutions but I also understand they have erred on the side of caution on other things where the line isn’t particularly clear. Again, no judgment, they want to ensure they are fireproof and they’re perfectly entitled to do that.

@Mutiny I feel like VR studios can still salvage something from all this given that making personal VR content is still near impossible, at least with the level of quality that most consumers insist on, so I sincerely hope you can find smart ways to use it as an advantage sooner rather than later.

biZZler You're exactly right. And these conversations are definitely happening at SLR. They're eager to help independent producer/performers get set up with channels on here, find out what gear to get and how to use it, etc.

Mutiny Per her tweets, the issue is 'obscenity'. A dramatic production about family abuse or someone simply pissing on another person's butt (as she noted). Of these, if both are shown to a random sampling and then asked which one better fits what may be considered 'obscene', even nowadays most will probably select the latter hence urination-related content is a billing gray area.

Not really. It's the porn companies who are unwilling and unable to offer payment services that are independent of big US credit card companies. It's just lazy and pretty stupid in the long run.

LordCrash Gotcha. Those are valid payment methods for sure, but they can't replace the juggernaut that is international credit card processing.

Per the article, they accept crypto and direct debit but still had to pull the entire premium infrastructure while they figure out next steps.

I don't know why they simply don't do a "two tier" payment system.

Like, if you are a casual consumer who isn't interested in the most hardcore stuff anyway, get yourself a basic subscription and pay with your credit card, all easy and simple.

And if you are a perv who is really interested in that super hardcore stuff just pay for it (on top?) with either crypto or pre-sold gift cards or whatever, even in a second sub or by pay-per-scene. Regular uses can't see or access this content.

I don't think credit card companies have any leverage against stuff that is hidden by a paywall that isn't connected with their own services. Their rules only apply to goods when using their services for the purchase of that specific good.
