bobbytables Netflix - high quality high production value content with a thorough internal testing process that doesn't make users be beta testers or start allocating users money toward other mediums (i.e. passthrough) than original advertised, all for $10
Spotify - Offers the highest constant bitrate available (outside of something that an audio engineer would do, after 320 you have to go variable) with unlimited streaming of millions of songs and once again doesn't make users be beta testers and doesn't remove random sorting options (while claiming to eventually return them and never does a la SLR), all for the low cost of $10 for free with ads.
Those companies were brought up as an analogy. Any analogy on earth can be picked apart by diving into specific details. That's not how they are meant to function.
We generally try to give warning when possible.
Our service is similar to Amazon Prime Video: if you purchase the script, it's yours forever. If you don't, then if a scripter decides to leave then their content is removed and you will no longer have access to it. Only we don't sell vacuums like Amazon Prime, so analogy ruined I guess.
I assume this is about Passthrough. If so, we have zero plans to stop producing Passthrough content. You can think of it as "extra" content since our monthly volume of SLRO's has increased more and more over time. Should also be moved into a separate channel soon.
bobbytables has a CEO that calls people names and is nonstop rude to customers
Here's his comment history. Notice how much of it is about how to make the site/app/content better based off user suggestions. Sorry if you feel he's mean sometimes.
bobbytables uses customers subscription money on things they didn't sign up for
Fundamentally impossible to only spend money on scenes/content you, as an individual, want. Every single person on earth has unique tastes and preferences. There is quite literally no way to do this.
bobbytables doesn't test camera footage before release (remember the 8k debacle where they released a ton of videos with giants?)
100%, guilty as charged. Extensive testing is ongoing with the 10k test rig.
bobbytables puts out 30mbps videos for 6k and 8k footage even though the community has explained time and time again he's cutting off data
If you didn't see it, here's a relevant thread re: ongoing tests we're doing to improve this.
bobbytables makes claims of feature theft against heresphere even though SLR itself is built on communal libraries
Not a Dev myself so waaaay beyond my knowledge base.
And while I usually try to avoid making this point - SLR is a subscription service. If a user is unhappy with the service overall, the can unsubscribe at any time.
