I agree, and once HS figures out streaming (and figures it out well) it's going to be a no brainer. Deovr has become a pornsite portal like many we have seen in the past (although a very good one if not the best). Whereas, HS is going to be the standard at some point if it doesn't get abandoned and they can figure out streaming well. Also, Deo seems to have a very hard time managing subtitles suitably for this type of content, which are becoming more and more popular in vr. HS does a very good job with that. If I want to scan titles I go with Deovr but if I want to watch one of my favorite videos I go with HS.
For the average user? Yeah I agree, Deo all day long.
The idea I think is that someday VR will be as popular as regular porn and that the interface needs to be seamless and free and easy to use for the purnhub types. People who want to buy a quest and watch porn. That's where the revenue is in this market. But for the more discerning.. HS is the way to go.
Edit: I don't use scripts so I can't comment on those.

    IMO HS has the best picture quality. The Sharpen of 2.0 increases sharpness of almost all VR videos. The sharpness of Deo is also good but with current builds somehow my preference will be HS for playing VR videos. Also the ability to play videos from SMB network share is great to play downloaded videos from PC.

    The only issue is high cost of HS $30 which I would wait till any sale event around $10.

    Hey Friends,

    Im looking sooo long for a other app then DEO VR for streaming at most. I look some downloaded videos, but not much. I never was happy with the image quality of deo. I always thought it could be better. When u zoom ore change the viewing position DEO gets blurry for me. In every video i want tweek the camera a bit to my taste and in some clips I zoom in or out. Sorry but in DEO it looks not great. And even the 3D and the deepness are just ok in the app. But I never found a app to stream VR porn good. I bought a lot of apps to see just that they dont stream from web. Even all the VR browser dont made good jobs. Im on a quest 2 and I see some downlodad videos from my pc on virtual desktop. This way I realized what is possible. Virtual Desktop is amazing to me. But I need a good app to stream and tweek some things.

    Here are HereSpere come to my rescue. Finally !! After years of DEO ! I just hv use it for some hours but I love this app so far. You hv so much usefuel things. Keybindings, Playlists, Intuitiv zoom and cam tweek ...

    But the main reason is the image quality. Finally streaming looks so good as download ... nearby !

    Tell me what u want but the immersion with HS is expotential better. And 30€ bugs are fair. And u hv no subscribtion and the dev is working on the app.

    Ok DEO is free ... but u get only the free quality. When u dont see a difference u dont need HS. But when u looking for a upgrade ... buy HereSpere VR player ! Its worth every penny.

    Sure u hv to learn the app, but for me its so much fun to practice and watch all my videos from the web in good quality. SLR works amazing for me. No comparsion to DEO.

      Eh, I used to think that but I honestly don't see much difference between the two in terms of image quality now. They seem the same. Obviously if you download the videos to your comp or to Quest itself its going to be the best, you will always lose a bit of quality over internet connection, but not that much imo, at least not with my internet.

      Heresphere is really good in so many ways, but it's missing some stuff that Deo has.

      DEO - Passthrough with really advanced options for creating your own PT settings, much easier to use, much more user friendly and huge library to stream through if you pair it with SLR. downsides is it's still very slow, clunky, and some of the controls don't make sense (like having to grab both grip buttons to move the image), and the other settings are drastic. It's not easy to make super tiny incremental adjustments.

      HS - Much faster, cleaner, more options to adjust settings, settings are super incremental. You can zoom out like a millimeter or even less, so way more control. But it's also confusing as hell to use, has way too many menus and options that most people don't need, don't use or don't do much. No Passthrough is a big problem as well. I pretty much only use DEO now because of that. He's working on PT for it, but unless it's superior to DEO's, not sure I'd switch back.

      I still use both everyday depending on the videos.

        Ok now I get the problem. U cant stream with HS. The streams count as download. So u forced to use the ... DEO App. I thonk when I want to stream in good quality then I hv to leave SLR. Its anoying.

        I don't get why nobody has mentioned this. But the only thing I really love about HS is when you hold the trigger and move the controller around to pan your image up, down, left, right. It works easy and intuitively, it doesn't break immersion that much when the image needs to be slightly corrected. Right now with DeoVR you open the menu, locate the view settings and look at the menu while using sliders to control the Pitch, Yaw, etc.
        After seeing how HereSphere implemented it, the DeoVR way of doing it feels clunky.

        Having that feature within the controller would make DeoVR the most complete VR Player for me. Autofocus is nice but still not sure what the hype is. I'm a big fan of your Handy edging and how it works.. much better than other players imo

          Nonsense. There is no inherent quality loss from streaming over the internet. If you are streaming via an app like DeoVR, HereSphere or Playa then the video quality between streamed videos and downloaded videos is identical because the same video file is used in both scenarios.

            damian This feature is available on Deo. The controls are just slightly different. You press and hold the grip trigger and then simultaneously press and hold the main trigger button. After that you can adjust the camera positions by pivoting the controller.

                BENONL9NE It's the top priority for Deo team to boost image quality. We are looking for a strong tech lead to figure it out.
                The guys are looking into:

                • Oculus new SDK has new sharpening feature
                • A/B test different image settings - new sharpness shader, saturation, etc.
                • Play with eye texture scale - but this could degrade performance (HS has it optional)

                    To the OP's point about the autofocus making him dizzy: I don't know what to tell you man that's honestly one of the biggest selling points for me with HereSphere. When I have to adjust the horizontal shift to accommodate when scenes go from far away to close up views, it's a big pain in the ass.

                    Another thing HereSphere does that I really like is it's ability to adjust the viewing scale of the video to match the camera it was shot/encoded with. A lot of times you'll have a video that looks absolutely dogshit in almost every format except for a handful that match the specific fisheye or wide angle lens.

                    Lastly HereSphere really nails 3DOF. Yeah DeoVR has it too, but it just feels much less responsive, less accurate, and more restrictive.

                    DeoVR is great don't get me wrong, but these technical features really add huge layers of immersion to the viewing experience.

                        HS may have better quality but that's not the main draw for me. For me I just love the feeling I can get any video looking just right with the different settings and the fact they're easy to access/use. DEO is a nightmare to use the settings. Maybe it's because I only use it lying down but I always have to crane the shit out of my neck to start doing stuff in DEO because everything is SO FAR off screen. Even setting the recenter to thumbstick in, I can't move it around. I have to hold it then look around myself. Just let me hold trigger and move the picture around with the controller!

                        EDIT: like for passthrough videos that you guys are pushing. They're pretty much the only time I use Deo and it's freaking impossible to line everything up correctly most of the time. Many times, my neck cannot even go the direction it needs to in order to line it up with "recenter". So since I can't get the right angle I just nope out of the video as it's essentially unwatchable for me

                        Kolaches both, it's in the settings you gotta customize it, shit bro I gotta get into the helmet to see what option it is

                        But if you ever used skybox that's how I have it set up, I hold button x or z and move the the picture up down side to side

                          Took me ages to find out and I only did by accident since someone mentioned it here in the forum. I think the setting is called 'Dome rotation'. With the standard two-button keybinding (for Q2), you need to make sure to press the primary hand button before the primary index trigger.

                            doublevr Im bear for a long time ... I MUST use DEO since years. SLR force me to use this app. I never had a good immersion ore image quality. I never see good image quality. Not In moon vr, not in skybox VR, not in pegasus ( but app is ok ) and not in DEO VR.

                            The only time on my quest carrier I saw a good picture and hv a good immersion is in virtual desktop ( files from pc ) and Herespere VR !

                            I made a test I watched the same scene in diffrent player and I did stream the scene. HereSpere wins high !

                            I always need to tweek the view a bit. DEO gets more blurry. DEO on quest 1/2 is blurry a bit at streaming. HS is clean hv a deepnes and sharpness DEO dont hv. And also the skin looking more natural in HS then in DEO.

                            Why there are always a fight. DEO and Herespere need to work together. 👍So that there are 2 versions of DEO a standard version and a advanced version of DEO ! Maybe the secound one is paid then. And both versions are delivering the best from DEO with the best from HS.

                            But this is just a dream. Companys are just care about profit and money and not about the costumers.
