catflap Great post! I'm glad you started this thread and fully agree with all points. I am a long time subscriber, but relatively new to posting on the forums. For me personally, this was the year that I feel SLRO moved to the top spot on my list of creators. While I am still a big fan of a couple other sites, I think what put the SLRO team over the top was #3&4 on Catflap's list and echoed by doefi3

Openness and willing to chat with us on the forum

To me, SLR's community engagement and implementation of feedback is absolutely next level! (and I mean that for all of the SLR team members on the boards as well as the customer community members that contribute huge amounts of info to the forums). I feel like they choose to tap the community hive mind far more than any other site to discuss future tech, near future goals, or just random 'outside the box' ideas for new and different features. Some of these may be good ideas, some may be not so much, some may get implemented, some may not... but the point is, what usually feel like internal team discussion topics, are instead presented directly to us the community for feedback. It is this attention given to the customers desires, and the constant push to bring better and better quality that separates the SLR team from the majority of the others that choose to just offer a 'safe' product that is 'good enough'. Here, I feel like the money I spend on the sub is actually being rewarded with an ever evolving product, as opposed to a simple transaction of-- I give you X dollars, and you give me Y number of 'safe, good enough' scenes. I truly do appreciate it!

      Who is "many of us"? Speak for yourself, dude...

      Personally, I don't think that the Originals from like two or three years ago were better than those of last year in general. Not at all.

          LordCrash Why do you always get so offended by someone else writing something? How much is "many" in German? Does that mean everybody to you? Does that mean i'm speaking for LordCrash?

          I don't think there is anything wrong with his opinion of "Many of us miss the times when there were fewer Originals, but of much higher quality". I might be a 'many', do I count? I only speaking for myself... and Natch.

              rerun119 I'm not speaking for anyone but myself, but I will say I was a bit disappointed to see @Natch's post in this thread, which @catflap started as a place for people to share end-of-the-year appreciation. Just seems like bad form to use this thread to air (perfectly valid) grievances instead of one of the many other threads intended for feedback and suggestions. Imagine someone passing around a birthday card at the office and everyone writes happy birthday but one person writes "You owe me 20 dollars." It may be true, but maybe not the right context. 😃

              But of course all are welcome to share our views!

                  I will speak for "many' of us when I say that your videos are always well done. Since you kind of work for SLR, thanks for all your hard work. I really mean it.
                  LordCrash just drives me crazy sometimes with his, he gets to make all the rules on how you are allowed to talk in the forums.

                      rerun119 It's all good, my friend. We all annoy each other from time to time. Never know why someone else might be having a bad day and just need to vent.

                        We can not crucify Natch, since he/she didn't said anything "wrong/bad". Just sharing his point..

                        But yeah, this was meant to be an appreciation post, as i'm sure that this was the only & nice intention from @catflap in the first place.

                        But, just as Mutiny commented above, indeed, maybe this was not the best thread to complain for such a thing.
                        Thought you perfectly could! Naturally you can comment here whatewer you want, for sure, it's just that this was not the propose of this thread/love letter..

                        There are many other threads where to choose & complain, or you could simply create a new one with the title:

                        "SLR Before you were Cool" "SLR You're all getting Old & Fat" or something like that.. ^^"
                        (yeah, sorry for the idea dear SLR)... You can fire me afterwards if you see any of that later :p

                        Anyways, it's always fun discussing and get to learn from other people opinions, as long as this is treated with care & respect.

                          Well, honestly it seemed to me that this was a thread to tell what you thought of SLR in 2022, so I have done that.

                          I forgot that the tendency now is to make the vacuum to comments that are not complacent and not just say only good things about SLR.

                          For me 2022 at SLR has been a disappointing year, but I guess that's of no interest in a post that I felt was meant to give a summary of the year, so it seems it's just to thank SLR.

                          The problem is that I've been looking for something to say thanks, and everything I liked about SLR has either gone downhill, or they haven't delivered on the main reason I subscribed....

                          In any case, Happy New Year to all...

I interpreted the intention of the thread differently, as a place to post thanks, but I wasn't going to say anything until people started getting heated about it. What you said is totally fair. And I'm sorry this year was disappointing for you. Truly. That sucks. (and not in the good way. 😉 )

                                    Anyway, sometimes I forget that, whether I like more or less what SLR is doing, there is no denying their passion for VR and their efforts to improve and extend VR.

                                    So finally, I do have to thank them for something.... Their passion and their commitment to VR.

                                    That's what all of us here share, and it's something we should celebrate.

                                        Thing is that none of us we know each other here.
                                        It's very easy to start developing all kind of misunderstandings between us all.

                                        When i first read your previous comment i wasn't sure if you were serious, if you were just being sarcastic (since you were the first to come and hit on the table) or if you simply were the "i complain for everything" type.
                                        (it is possible others may have thought that aswell)

                                        I am sure you also know well how people use to be behind the screen too. You only have to open twitter..

                                        What you just said now sounds fair enough, and your opinion is just as valid as anyone else's. Really.

                                        I apologice if you've felt offended for anything i could have said and for my poor joke about these possible "titles" for a new thread, hopefully you didn't.

                                        I just wanted to erase any possible future tenssion between us all by making fun of the whole situation here, but nothing else 👍️

                                            thanks slr for the great shots and the great scripts, keep it up and don't forget the app that just keeps getting better. So have a good start into the new year, keep it up.

                                            Thankyou SLR! The scenes were great but the innovation progress has been amazing. Passthrough is getting crazy good.

                                            Lets hope next year we can get progress in 6DOF depth maps 🙂
