  • Only 8% of users re-watch at least 60 sec of the same videos in 2 month

doublevr

lmao this is why people say 98% of stats are made up on the spot. Your's may as well be, there are way to many factors to consider that the 8% in anyway the slightest bit relevant.

I was mainly a streamer before, the more slr argue and reduce DL limits the more I download in preparation for the next throttling, and my inevitable cancellation.

Honestly there is so much new content being released every day, I am not surprised that people lack the... er.. energy to dip back into the back catalog -

But... if I thought I was going to lose any SLR favorites (for example when you wiped out tons of "drinking" and "sleeping" videos _- I would go on a crazy downloading spree

doublevr

Makens sense.

  • If you like a scene so much you wanna rewatch it you probably download it, which means you can not notice it.
  • Even if you like a scene so much to rewatch it you most likely leave more time then just 2 months between.

Actually I think 8% is surprisingly high.

Latency does not matter at all with streaming.
If you have 100ms latency, and another user 50ms it just means your video start 50ms later after pressing the play button.

doublevr That's it folks.

No need to download the shit out of SLR.

You don't know how much I watch each of my downloaded scenes.

I can tell you one thing: I've never streamed even a single minute of porn on SLR. No even a second. Nothing. Nada.

Your statistics are bull and so is your agenda.

LordCrash I can tell you one thing: I've never streamed even a single minute of porn on SLR. No even a second. Nothing. Nada.

    This exactly, same for me.
I don't think I've even ever signed into SLR from either the SLR or DeoVR apps. I did test streaming the trailers or whatever plays as a guest a couple times but that's all. It was enough to show me local files are far superior and if you have the HDD space for that it's just the way to go.

Aerowen I have not been using DeoVR for months now since I replaced it with Heresphere which is better in any imaginable way.

I will never understand why people expect me to stream visually downgraded content via a possibly unstable internet connection on a mediocre VR player when I can watch the same content in the best possible quality with 100% availability on the best VR player out there. It's the better experience in any possibly way. Period.

It sadly seems that the real VR enthusiasts have no future on SLR and nobody gives an actual fuck about them, even though they are the most loyal customers who are ready (and able) to pay good money for the content they consume. The only interest is to attract the usual Brazzers customers who watch SD porn on their phone right now. Quantity is all that counts and so there is this all-streaming agenda that obviously has to be pushed by all means necessary...

LordCrash I should really use Heresphere more too as I do have it and it is indeed a lot better. I've just been lazily using the oculus thing and haven't really set it up to start stuff from steam.

For me the reason is not a slow internet connection btw, I have 500mbit and probably next year gigabit connection and I really doubt I will ever switch to streaming VR porn. It's indeed visually a downgrade, comparable to watching a movie on Bluray vs Netflix quality, not to mention annoying stutters and pauses when you skip ahead.

According to their own graphics and "stats" the people who download are by far the minority, so why are we getting more and more limitations? It's absurd, if we are such a minority it shouldn't be an issue at all, just let us have our downloads without obnoxious counters and other annoyances. The only reason to keep pushing against this is SLR/doublevr having a hard-on for streaming-only or that's just their end-goal. Well fuck around and find out I say. It's not going to fly for a lot of people.

It's like Gabe Newell said years ago "Piracy is a service issue", actually here's the full quote:

"If a pirate offers a product anywhere in the world, 24 x 7, purchasable from the convenience of your personal computer, and the legal provider says the product is region-locked, will come to your country 3 months after the US release, and can only be purchased at a brick and mortar store, then the pirate's service is more valuable."

Although I'm not convinced the download limitations are caused by piracy at all (because 1; it takes a certain level of tech knowledge+access and 2; the people who pirate porn would very likely never pay for porn anyway). But similarly to games, paid-for-porn and especially VR porn is definitely a service issue. If it is more convenient to watch or download from SLR people will use it, but when we get annoying limitations that just keep getting worse and worse at some point people will jump ship.

Personally I'm already at that point of looking into other solutions simply because of doublevr's nonsense stats and endless fight against the apparently minor group of members who download. Not to mention the lies about not adding more limitations and yet here we are, and now he posted it won't go streaming-only but history has shown that's probably what's going to happen.

And I might not always hit the 30 downloads limit but when I do and there's another scene I want to get I'm now essentially forced to put on my pirate hat even though I'm paying for VR porn. I'm not going to wait six fucking days when I can download it right away (at much higher speeds than SLR servers by the way). So yeah, it's a convenience and service issue and SLR is heading in the wrong direction.

doublevr What is your role in the SLR company? If its to be the public relations guy then I would say you are horrible at it. Who says this as a PR guy for a company "That's it folks. No need to download the shit out of SLR."

rerun119 I have no clue why he’s employed tbh. Reminds me of the guy from Pervrt. Can’t control themselves. Always wants to be defensive and argue.

Horrible selection as one of the faces of SLR’s franchise.

LordCrash it is an agender and obviously @doublevr is turning drm crazy but I say that: is because streaming burns from more data from the site - than a one off download. You download and keep but @doublevr doing crazy scare tactics.

For sites like SLR, at the end of the day, almost all users (90%+ or as noted here, 92%+) are going to be very casual. The question is how heavy users should be handled. From my own experiences, semi-heavy users are fine but if a site is based on a revshare method where the very heavy ones end up costing more in royalties than what the site makes from their subscriptions, the question of whether to keep them as a subscriber becomes paramount.

SLR's Premium offering is a blessing in that it's one fair price that includes downloads and while not totally unlimited, is still extremely generous. Still, there are going to be some very heavy users that for various reasons prefer to essentially make a local mirror of the site. I can't imagine their usage hurts SLR's bandwidth bills, but the risk of losing a lot of money off them (akin to big eaters hoarding king crab legs at a $19.95 buffet) grows everyday they remain active. There also is the risk that a very small subset of these users may be passionately downloading for more nefarious reasons.

My advice for the very small number of users who may be affected by SLR's fair use download policy is instead of downloading anything and everything, to first stream movies of interest and then decide if this is something you'd like to have locally.

Natch Per JAV and piracy, I agree it's a terrible issue that stems from most established studios still operating as "we shoot content and let others distribute so leave us alone!" mindset. Sadly, they don't realize that as copyright holders, they are the only entities that have the immediate legal might to successfully patrol for illegally uploaded content. What hurts even more is when some do try, they always forget to DMCA Google which should be step 1 in any takedown procedure (Google's Takedown History page when it comes to JAV is a barren wasteland outside of Dreamroom whom as you probably know is more of a western company that caters to Japanese).

It doubly hurts that along with such a buried-head-in-and approach to piracy, many are strict with ensuring DRM or no download ability remains active. I believe with enough pushing, opening up downloads for older content would be possible, but even that remains a very uphill battle since SLR has so much of it.

Why are you trying to convince us with cherry picked statistics? You've already seen on Reddit what happens when you piss off opinion leaders. All of your posts get downvoted and even if someone else recommends SLR, they get downvoted too.

You hurt your business by forcing your opinion on people, and even if the mainstream doesn't care, even those will listen to those opinion leaders, and you hurt your business by pushing your personal agenda. Even some of your employees use SLR in a way you don't like (downloads, XBVR, Heresphere), but they are not allowed to talk about it.

And I don't even have a problem with your character - on the contrary, at least I know where things stand with you. I prefer that to a PR guy or a cautious employee who just beats around the bush when the end result is the same. My disapproval is not directed against your person, but against your business decisions.

ZENRA I really appreciate your comments and insights. First post today that has me rethinking some of my own assumptions. Thank you.

If yall do go streaming only, will yall add more sites like all czechvr sites, badoink, vrcosplay, naughty america, bang bros vr, virtual taboo, darkroomvr, wetvr?

Vrsumo2017 CVR and NA not very likely interested in such a partnership. I have no proof of that, but I’d still bet all in on it.

What I’d give for opportunity for lifetime subs on those two sites.
