Is there a possibility to offer alternative bitrate for 8K SLROriginals (something like 60 or 80mbps)?

I know you are using variable 30mbps bitrate, and it was enough for 6K SLROriginals, but now that you started releasing 8K (which has double amount of data compared to 6K), it's not enough anymore, now bitrate is constantly hitting 30mbps limit.

In the past i used to download raw 6K 120mbps files, but with 8K you increased bitrate of raw files to 180mbps, which is waste of space imo, 1 hour videos are 90-100GB, 90 minutes ones will be 150gb.

If you will not offer alternative bitrate, please at least decrease raw files bitrate from 180mbps to something manageable like 100 or 120mbps, like it was in the past.

Yeah i agree, 60 mbps would be great, files are not to big and quality doesn't suffer, alternatively (if offering other bitrate is to much work) i would also just be happy with decreasing raw files bitrate from 180 to 120mbps like it was before.

    @doublevr
Any news on this one? You said that your team fixed the 8k rig and that's great. Offering 8k scenes with 60 mbps should be the next step. That would make them 8k scenes really shine now... 😉

I mean, why spending all the money on the best possible setup and the best tech around only to artifically limit the possible quality by a low bitrate. Especially scenes with a lot of movement do benefit from a higher bitrate. That's why CzechVR scenes still look so great.

So, is there a plan to offer alternative bitrate? Or at least to reduce raw files to something manageable like it was before, i wanted to download new "My Dirty Laundry 2" raw scene, but it's crazy big, 144GB.

the best vr studio deserves best vr helmet please upgrade your equipment

Rakly3 You can use the studio file if you like.

Most people don't want to download a 150 GB file with completely overblown and unnecessary parameters. We ask for a sweet spot here, best possible quality for most current rigs, right in between the 15 GB files and the 150 GB files. You know, simply a higher bitrate but no excessive one...

doublevr Czech is 8k30fps 8 bit color.
Slr Canon production is 8k60fps 14 bit color.

And? I don't see why SLR shouldn't be able to offer a 60 mbps file with 8k60 fps 14bit color. Or do I miss something here?

doublevr Czech is 8k30fps 8 bit color.
Slr Canon production is 8k60fps 14 bit color.

even if that comparison was true... thats the raw camera footage and not the files you or czechvr are delivering to us users... so its totally irrelevant. czechvrs camera isnt 8 bit anyway.

the files we get are 8k60fps with 8 bit color depth for both czechvr and slr. czechvr using 60-80 mbps depending on the scene and slr using 30 mbps.

          doublevr

Thanks for answering, but that's not what i asked about, i didn't complain about color depth or camera, on the contrary, i think Canon camera (new VRHush and LethalHardcore scenes are great, and SLR is improving too) is better than CzechVR camera.

Bitrates are the problem, if you want to watch (or download) 8K SLROriginals choice is between bitrate starved (30mbps) or overblown (180mbps, latest scene is 144GB), i was just asking about alternative bitrate, or at least reducing raw (studio) bitrate to around 100mbps like it was before

VRHush and LethalHardcoreVR raw (studio) scenes shot with Canon camera are around 90mbps, and they look great.

SLR Originals are in so many ways preferable to CzechCastingVR. For one, all models at SLR look happy, not abused, and mentally capable. With one notable and unfortunate exception, all models in SLR Originals have brushed their teeth and look clean. SLR Originals are singular works of pornographic art in a new medium; whereas CzechCastingVR is a secondary add-on, with over-used models in most cases -- new to VR only -- to a popular 2D website.

That said, I've never downloaded an Original of an SLR Originals. Maybe this is because I'm too poor for massive storage or a good headset, but I don't think I'm alone to suffer in this terrible, abusive economy. I think they should keep the studio files available for the extremely wealthy to pay extra (like what normal person could download 150 GB on a regular home system, even a home studio). They could then make a very high 20 GB file for the very devoted fans at a solid bitrate. It might save money for SLR and be good for one and all. No feeling guilty about not downloading 100 GB+ files!

With or without the massive file size, what they produce here is really top notch, and that's what's most important.

            1. If you can't afford download just stream the content. Suggesting paid downloads for other users is just an asshole move, what the fuck is wrong with you?

            2. Nobody here talked about CzechCastingVR. What's the point of even bringing it up? This thread it about bitrates for files. If you want to talk about CzechCasttingVR instead please open your own thread.

            People these days...

DoubleVR writes "Czech". CzechVR is part of the Czech VR Network, which comprises CzechVR, CzechVRCasting, and CzechVRFetish. You can sub to it separately here https://www.czechvrnetwork.com/members/.

Don't mix-up the point, or attempt to use hyperbole to deflect the argument. Downloading is great. But not many folks download the originals above 100 GB (statistics doublevr ?). Yes, I'm poor and probably should look for a better headset, but 100 GB, given the present state of technology, remains a stretch even for middleclass folks. Only true aficionados of VR, with a Varjo Aero or the like, would actually be able to see the difference between a 70 GB VR experience and one that is above 100 GB. Correct me if I'm wrong, but 20 GB remains the upper limit for many other sites. How many 100 GB files have you downloaded, and would you consider yourself an 'average' or 'common' user of VR? If you don't consider yourself an average user of VR, why should the average user be expected to cover the additional costs of excessive usage? I just hope these guys stay in business, because the extensiveness of their library is very impressive (the best I've ever seen, but again I'm new to all this).

This discussion isn't about the content quality of CzechVR or one of its sub channels. You can open a different topic if you want to discuss that. This thread is only about videos bitrates and technical questions, not content.

And the problem here is that we only have 30 mbps regular downloads with like 10-15 GB files sizes and 180 mbps raw file downloads with like 120-15 GB file sizes but nothing in between for exactly the VR aficionados you're talking about. That's why I brought up CzechVR since they offer files with 60 mbps with like 20-25 GB file sizes which is imho a perfect option for those of us who really enjoy high-quality VR stuff from a technical perspective.

RockyMtHigh pimax but it's expensive and l think quest2 is good enough for 8k videos it's the video problem that makes itself not clear

RockyMtHigh What device would you suggest?

HTC Vive Focus, if you do not mind the price.

If price isn't an issue the hardware you want is Varjo Aero. Setting aside the Varjo VR-3 and Varjo XR-3 (for Augmented Reality Experiences), that's the best headset available today. It has a resolution of 2880x2720 per-eye and can be used for hours without fatigue. Instead of Fresnel lenses it has aspheric lenses. The headset itself is expertly counterbalanced to hang above your nose, so you don't feel as though you are wearing it. It's very popular for training pilots.

This through-the-lens will blow your mind.

spacepirate the files we get are 8k60fps with 8 bit color depth for both czechvr and slr. czechvr using 60-80 mbps depending on the scene and slr using 30 mbps.

I should have chimed in earlier about this, because I've also been wanting a higher bitrate for the compressed 8k SLROriginals files. And @mirdumar @spacepirate and @LordCrash are right on the money in this regard.

I still download the Original "Mezz" file (200 Mbps) for my favorite 8k SLRO scenes, but obviously that is not something I want to do on a regular basis because it's not practical.

However, the compressed 8k file (which is 8 bit color) does not have the bitrate it needs for a 8000x4000 hevc video file. Especially with the beautiful colors and lighting that SLRO scenes have (some with nice landscapes, outdoor scenery and the likes), the extra bitrate is 100% necessary. That is why CzechVR pushes their 8k files to 80 Mbps bit rate. They even pump in more bitrate to their scenes when it is shot outdoors.

I think it's important that the 8k SLROriginal scenes are flexible in this regard. Why shoot such cutting edge VR scenes and spend all the resources and energy on the rig, lighting, editing, post production, all for it to be crushed in a 30 Mbps download? Especially as computers get faster, and VR headsets keep advancing, technology can support higher bitrates, and it's very noticeable when the bitrate is limiting the end-result. We've been using 30 Mbps encodes since the 5k days of VR. For 8k, it certainly needs to be at least 60Mbps.

And for more comparisons, of other companies using the Canon 8k rig:

                • VRHush/VRAllure/FuckpassVR: 45 Mbps & 90 Mbps (Mezz)
                • NaughtyAmerica: 45 Mbps
                • LethalHardcore: 80 Mbps (Mezz)
