All my personal opinion:
I can appreciate that there is a lot of passion about this topic, and I'm genuinely glad that we all are fortunate enough to live in societies where we can even have discussions like this openly. Some are not so fortunate- as we're typing these opinions out, Putin and his regime are tightening down on the already limited freedom of speech in Russia. I believe it's up to 15 years in prison now for telling the truth, the factual & tangible reality, about what Russian forces are doing in Ukraine (for example the maternity hospital they bombed today) - so as individuals we should not take it for granted.
As doublevr said, a conscious choice was made to no longer be a part of the Russian economy. This is the same choice made by hundreds of companies around the world.
By choosing not to operate within Russia, it denies Russia funds flowing into the country, some portion of which would either directly or indirectly end up in the hands of Putin's government, which in turn would be paying for the war crimes that are now being committed in Ukraine. No one is arguing that the girls and those affected by this decision were going to walk up to Putin and hand him their tip money, but that's exactly where at least some of that money would ultimately go, because that is how national economies work. Period.
I don't think anyone here is expecting this decision to single-handedly end Putin's invasion and war in Ukraine. But continuing to operate "as normal" has zero positive impacts on the millions currently suffering in Ukraine. None.
However- stopping all moneys from entering Russia could have a positive impact by starving the regime of the funds it needs to continue this war (as well depriving it of the ability to pay for future wars), and potentially creating enough unrest among the Russian people that they start to push back on their government. Which, for those of us old enough to remember, was one of the main contributors to the independence of many former Eastern Bloc countries as well as main contributors to the dissolution of the original USSR, which is exactly what Putin and his regime are trying to revivify.
