  • Some videos are being removed for compliance purposes

LordCrash I do stream, but have always been worried about the risk of scenes being deleted (whether a studio decides to leave, or something unexpected like this). Hence why I asked about having some idea of what's being removed so downloads can be done ahead of time (I assume others here asking for the same use SLR in a similar way to me). Might be off-topic here as I can see why that wouldn't be possible for 'compliance' issues, but would be nice to have for other stuff.

Zack141 help your customers out by putting a tag or description somewhere on the edited videos saying they've been changed from the original from the studios - so we can go find those original videos elsewhere

Totally Agree

I can understand all the frustration. Mounting the pressure isn't helpful at all. I'd appreciate some understanding for the sake of frank communication.

We are working on the issue and there will be more updates coming. We are on the same boat with you and removing content doesn't work great for us.

Yet we respect the reason why it's so and will cooperate to have things right. If you can't take things as they are find yourself another place without adding even more pressure on us.

doublevr Sweet! appreciate the work in editing the vids to keep them up, and obviously complying with the law!

Would you be able to add a tag saying that they've been edited from the originals so we can go source the videos elsewhere as you've suggested?

Edit: Would payments in bitcoin be beneficial to avoid a PH situation in the future with SLR, and hosting the videos somewhere not likely to attack the site?

Next year I'm considering a Lifetime membership, but the question someone asked before "Where will SLR be in 5 years?" before suddenly has become a lot more real 😅

Maybe simply use Segpay + Paypal for payment process (maybe with Bitcoins as an alternative) instead of being directly in contact with these fucking credit card companies.

LordCrash the inquiry comes from the whole sector. Every company to work with SLR does due diligence as a part of onboarding.
The site has to be clean to make things functional. Yet again it's time sensitive now as things develop and we explore where everything is going

LordCrash Currently in the U.S. , and believe me, most of us agree. I could go on for awhile, but eh =/
I am super thrilled with how well SLR has done in this new segment, but I really wish it were possible to branch out into more varied content.
Sadly, the folks in charge of the banks and laws around here don't really seem to think any kinks are okay.
Unless it's a blonde teenager gagging on cock that they can pretend is their daughter. They seem to be okay with that. Odd stance for moral crusaders ¯_(ツ)_/¯

doublevr When I'm full of coffee and vigor in the morning, I wonder if it'd be worth it to keep a list of content that had to be cut or edited in order to be allowed, as evidence of how much such things get regulated. Someday there might be a movement to get some of these rules changed, but honestly the vast majority of porn consumers in the US have no idea that their providers can't show whatever they want.
People who paid $1000+ for a lifetime membership (and too much time in the morning, as you can see here) might be the kind of people who would be motivated to sign a petition or write a congressperson, if they knew that silly outdated bank rules are the reason they can't get decent BDSM or piss videos (or what have you).

Just curiosity, would that kind of censorship (in the technical sense) or content curation be done by SLR, or the studio? Do you need to check everything, or does a whole studio get put on notice until they fix their own uploads?

Sorry if being too nosy: this subject is not too different from my day job and I wonder how content curation translates to compliance with porn regulations =P

There has been a fair amount of Christian organizations-fueled anti-porn activity recently, and they seem to succeed.

          https://slate.com/human-interest/2021/08/conservative-christians-anti-porn-tactics-paying-off.html

PH fell first, but deservingly, even though they got them for the other thing, not for pirating content for years. Collateral damage in an effect.

Don't forget that Senators in USA are on average 60 years old, so it's easy to get them on that bandwagon.
          https://www.dailysignal.com/2021/10/08/house-republicans-call-on-amazon-to-end-relationship-with-onlyfans-over-child-pornography/

Even though I have not seen sufficient evidence that Onlyfans systematically spreading CSAM content.

🤦‍♂️ So yeah, download or not, it's only applicable to the historical content, aka if some categories will be prohibited by regulations you will not see any new videos with that content ever, so argument to download is insufficient

Philip There has been a fair amount of Christian organizations-fueled anti-porn activity recently, and they seem to succeed.

You mean the same people in the church who rape underage boys and girls? Maybe the banks should give them regulations...? You know maybe stop funding or make them comply to not rape children?

Philip Don't forget that Senators in USA are on average 60 years old, so it's easy to get them on that bandwagon.

You mean the same greedy boomers who completely left my generation and the next in the dust and fucked forever? Maybe Banks should make them comply so they don't raise the debt ceiling, crash the housing market, and break the economy over and over again and again..

What an ass backwards world we live in where a bank can tell any company or private individual they can't watch or pay for an acting out of a fantasy and a roleplay in a dumb porno.. It's a fantasy none of this is real.. Why doesn't Hollywood have to follow these insanely dumb rules? Is book burning next? lol I'm an adult, your an adult, the people performing are adults.. Fuck these banks.... Whatever SLR makes great content and this is not your fault.. I'm sure you'll figure this out and gameplan accordingly to provide the best adult VR scenes out there.. This is just all so depressing and ridiculous to realize how fucked our private rights as individuals really are now... Fuck all these criminals..

Without going too deep into Lessig's theories of regulation, the internet has never been the libertarian paradise we might all desire and has always been subject to the censorious whims of both state and non-state actors. Preventing abuse has always been a wedge issue used by those who wish to censor or control, but we cannot be so naïve as to pretend that the porn supply chain is free of abuse.

As an example, the comments on the VR_PORNSTAR_SHOW webcam page indicates that during a show 9 months ago an incident regarding consent occurred which made several members uncomfortable enough to post about it. Likewise there are VERY good reasons why certain roleplay is verboten. There is significant academic research that shows that certain "pseudo-porn" perpetuates cycles of abuse. Whilst I'm sure we're all good people, we don't exist in a vacuum.

It's probably worth pointing out that the USA is not alone here. The UK has some of the world's strictest "extreme pornography laws" which would arguably criminalise certain Hollywood movies scenes if they were divorced from the full film, and also keeps flirting with mandatory centralised age verification schemes.

The UK also has modern-slavery reporting requirements covering the entire supply chains of some companies. The EU has been flirting with similar requirements which would potentially catch SLR and introduce heaps of new paperwork and compliance requirements.

So, whilst this situation may seem frustrating it's also an opportunity to ensure the business is protected and viable for the long term, and ultimately to defeat the censors by destroying their arguments that SLR's product is anything other than safe, consensual fun for adults.

Honestly, given that doublevr wants to pivot SLR to a sexual wellness platform, this compliance process is a chance to get the site well along that track, and ensure it is healthier and more resilient against the theists.

Hey guys. Just a quick update

                1. We have removed some of the videos that triggered compliance.

                2. Some of the removals (most) are positive false and will be re-instated after manual check.

                3. Other videos will be edited or blurred (alcohol)

                4. Some videos (very few or JAV) will be gone for good.

                5. We are exploring the whole compliance business and will come up with clear guidelines for producers on the boundaries. In general there should be nothing that closely resembles non-consensual (forced, sleeping, drunk, etc), things like alcohol, weapons, smoking. Additionally checking on peeing.

The matter is time sensitive and the team is overloaded with things. We are too small to for the operation of such scale, but we are fucking strong and I've got the right people on the mission.

You might ask me why others are not doing it? No idea. Either they are too small or trying their luck (we decided not to). We are all set to voluntary comply with regulations and laying down a great foundation for future success for all of us. We run fully legit business and want to connect with all the great people and services around. The more cool people we get the better things are going to work for everyone.

Thx for your understanding and all the support. More updates will be coming soon.

doublevr This feels like a free speech issue. What law or laws is causing you to remove content? What authority is it that you are trying to comply with? What will happen if you fail to comply? So far all we've heard from you is vague generalities. Can we have some specifics please?

jaysingen I'd wish it would be that easy.
Technically there's no law prohibiting things. It's just all sorts of financial institutions and businesses telling you the site is not in compliance.
We have seen some internal documents instructing their staff, it basically puts porn right next after "terrorism, human trafficking, drugs and weapons".

Right now the banks are enforcing the law the way they see it. Going to court is not an option as you might guess

jaysingen Card networks, (which mostly means Visa and Mastercard,) have rules which acquirers must adhere to in order to process payments on their network. These rules are all publicly available if you are really interested.
Mastercard has strengthened the rules regarding portrayal of nonconsensual activities, (banned,) live streaming, (content must be able to be removed in real time,) and age verification. Again, if you really want to read the rules they are available. AN 5196 Revised Standards for New Specialty Merchant
Registration Requirements for Adult Content Merchants

SLR has to comply because otherwise acquirers won't transact business with the site. And whilst there are other payment methods such as crypto, the reality is that most business is transacted via Visa and Mastercard, and without the ability to accept those cards you probably don't have a business.

ironic people complain about JAV censorship when everything else is censored in an even more restrictive way

lIlllIIl JAV is really strange to me. Like, it's fine for a girl to be groped and raped on a train or whatever but god forbid you see a willy.

PossiblyAPolarBear Likewise there are VERY good reasons why certain roleplay is verboten. There is significant academic research that shows that certain "pseudo-porn" perpetuates cycles of abuse. Whilst I'm sure we're all good people, we don't exist in a vacuum.

Yeah, some of that stuff makes me pretty uncomfortable. Not necessarily the plot itself, obviously it's all in character. But just the knowledge that there are people who might be emboldened by it.

                        abel906

it's fine for a girl to be groped and raped on a train or whatever but god forbid you see a willy.

it's a leftover law from when Japan tried, in a not particularly effective manner to "westernize", or at least to appear to conform to western morals. So they banned "obscenity", but their definition of obscenity allows basically anything as long as genitals are obscured.

They also banned "prostitution", but only defined prostitution as selling penis-in-vagina intercourse, meaning anything else is legal. And they banned "gambling", but they allow games of chance to be played in exchange for "prizes"... and casinos are often conveniently located next to pawn shops who purchase said prizes.

                        doublevr Additionally checking on peeing.

I'd really like to know the specifics about that one once you have the information you seek since it's one of my favorite kinks and it has imho NOTHING to do with the rest of the stuff discussed here (forced sex, rape fantasies etc.).

What's the issue with peeing? I mean, it's ok to shoot your cum on a girl's face but you're not allowed to urinate on her with the very same willy? Both are just body fluids, not more, not less. I mean, if pissing is used in a rape fantasy in order to humiliate a girl, it's not the pissing but the whole fantasy which would be "problematic". Same could be said about a facial or creampie or simply every sexual act in the same scenario. I watch A LOT of Legalporno content and pissing is a huge part of their winning formula (and the reason why I pay them so much money...). The girls are always into the watersports themselves and quite regularly they also piss on each other or the guys as well, having a lot of fun doing so. So what's the point? It's forbidden because it's kinky? I don't get it...

Pissing? You mean that thing we all do multiple times per day and in videos which it's obvious that the actors have given consent for? can't wait for a few years from now when the only thing allowed in VR is sorority/milf missionary porn. Wait, that's what 99% of it currently is and is why it'll never take off like non-vr streaming sites.

Come on, nut up or put up a fight at least.
