I don't think SLR will ever openly admit that during their technical changeover, users were short-changed on download slots.

I do think their technical change is now working as they intended to.
I do think SLR recognizes that users were short-changed download slots during their technical push.
I don't think SLR is willing to do anything about it - let alone even acknowledge #2 above.

At 6:53 I had 24 DLs remaining. At 9:29 I had zero.
If my understanding is correct, 6 days ago I down loaded 24 videos in 2hrs 36mins. I think I'd remember thay?

From what I've encountered over the past two weeks the 'Your limit is 30 downloads per rolling 6-day window' claim is in actual practice 25 downloads over 6 days. That's at least what I've been experiencing.

Again - what Devs are telling Support versus the Reality seems like 2 different stories.

SLR - please fix this issue! You have multiple users all claiming the same symptoms. Do NOT believe what your Devs are telling you because it's not what is happening in the real world.

Acknowledge there's an issue
Fix it
Compensate download slots to users to balance everything out.

PROBLEM FIXED FOR 90% OF YOUR USERS.

We have rolled out the latest update to video download limits. The allowance is changing from 30 downloads within 6 days to 35 downloads within 7 days.

Here’s how the updated system works:

Downloads are calculated within a rolling 7-day window.
Each download becomes available again separately at 00:00 UTC, seven days after it was made.
There is no single reset day for the entire allowance. Download availability is restored gradually as previous downloads leave the window.
The download dialog shows how many downloads you have remaining and when more will become available.

The updated limit maintains the same average allowance of five downloads per day while providing more flexibility in how you use it.

Thanks for that - the download amount having been reduced was really my only issue with the change as it existed over the past two weeks. With that fixed the 'rolling' concept seems fine enough to me.

Why not make it 1500 downloads, counted individually over 300 (or is it 350) days, and have what feels like random download slots all over next year? It already feels like random downloads and it gets worse with every day added.

Anyway, what about the download slots I lost during the week this system was implemented?
Personally, I lost about 20 of them, and it's hard to make up for that.

JordanSLR I think it would be very help for users and provide transparency to include a page in the account menu under "my profile" that gave a detailed snapshot of the 7-day window. Including information on how many downloads you have, and how many on what days more will become available.

Just blue skying here but it might even be cool to provide a histogram of past usage.

That bullet point is saying each download slot has its own 7-day timer and then resets at midnight UTC on the day the timer's up. If it's like the previous setup you tick down a day every time you hit midnight, so in practice the timer would be 6 days plus a partial day depending on when you downloaded the video.

I know it's too early to tell, but is this the same seven day cycle, which the six day one was in reality, which has been renamed as a seven day cycle. or is it an eight day cycle called a seven day one? As in a download slot on day one can be reused again on day nine? (If I download something sometime on Monday I can download on the same slot again Tuesday next week, if I'm east of UTC+0. The US are somewhat better situated in this system.) Is it within a seven day window or outside it? We are being told inside, but that wasn't the case with last weeks "six day window".

JordanSLR If those are the rules, there definitely is something wrong with the post-download dialog values as I posted above (anordr), as it's showing a limit of 30 downloads and a different next-available time. Those incorrect values will show up on every open SLR tab until the page is refreshed, in which case the values will switch back to a 35 download limit.

maxsavage Exactly, this is what I think also, there should be a transparency of the download and limit status. For example like detailed quota and usage of mobile data in carrier phone app.
