I'm a simple guy. I don't like complicated porn, and to be honest a lot of the scenarios people ask for do nothing for me. That's fine, everyone likes what they like. I just want straightforward 'girl / girls fuck guy (and each other), everyone knows what they're here for and they get on with it'. No surprise that my favourite 2D genre was POV gonzo. From that perspective, there's plenty of material to like here.
What I have noticed is that the girls are getting, frankly, a bit mid. Now, it's always been variable, and hot is in the eye of the beholder etc, but just generally, it seems like there are fewer super-hot stunners around and a metric shit-tonne of meh Euro and US girls who would still be way, way out of my league, but don't catch my eye or do much for me, and fewer girls who I see for the first time and think 'oh, hello!'. So when you get someone who is stunning coming along, she tends to become the flavour of the month (see: Carolina Guerrero right now, or Athena Vega a while back).
Whether this is because more girls never even enter the studio scene and just go direct to OF, or less girls want to do VR, or girls who would have considered a move into porn have equally profitable avenues to take advantage of their natural talents without taking dick on camera, I don't know.
What I do know is, I don't like it. Is 2D porn any better now? Don't know, I don't follow it and have essentially no interest in 'flat' (and I personally think SLR should stay away from 2D porn full stop, but hey, I don't dictate their business policies).
Technical execution has always been variable. There are plenty of super-small studios / creators on here whose production values are, at best, mediocre. But making VR porn is an expensive business. Offering a true package deal where they can rent the right equipment and experience from a studio like SLR, at an affordable price, might go a long way towards fixing that.
Does this mean VR porn is dying? Hmm. Well, if quality has genuinely dropped, and it's not just my impression, and people stop subbing because of it, then yes, it will die. But I think we're a long way from that now. I don't think the answer is trying to cater to all niches, because there are way too many of them and you can't make everyone happy.
