Hello, i ve been with SLR since its first days. I ve downloaded many great videos from this site but in the past lets say 1 o 2 years something either to SLR or myself has happened. I hardly find something interesting, i see out of shape fatties and rediculous silicon lips and titties all over the place, "$ 1.50 Acresses" and what else, i hardly find a movie where the actors really enjoy what they're doing, everything looks like anathomy lessons rather then passionate sex, espacially at lesbian Scenes. All that's missing is them telling jokes "at work". I may be mistaken, but in the early days that was different.

Have you had similar experiences?

Not sure if it was different early on. But I agree that it seems that VR porn in general doesn't seem to get much more traction. I'm a suscriber to several websites and dont see any more interesting ones popping up. It all seems a bit steady instead of progressing. I never understood why it's not progressing more quickly. I mean why does 2d porn still even exist? It makes no sense. It's not that a quest 3 is that expensive and such headset already yields quite a nice experience.

I really don't get it why VR porn isnt WAY more popular than it is right now.

Lurks To be frank vr headsets are generally bulky, tiring & uncomfortable to wear for long, sweat inducing, passthrough based grainy visibility and needs a lot of setup. Think about the average guy on the other side of the world tryna squeeze in a quick wank with whatever little private time he has. Most of the time he’s just going to fire up 2D porn and be done with it.
Studios see this too, which is why VR porn is still pretty niche. The audience just isn’t big enough yet to justify going all-in.

The only way I see mass market adoption of such a frictionless device is through smart glasses as it eliminates all these pain points while bringing sbs vr support.

Imagine 3 devices(most people already use 2 smart devices on average - their phone and smartwatch):

smartglasses
- birdbath, prismatic or waveguide lenses(not sure which will win long-term)
- no passthrough lag or graininess since you’re literally seeing the real world directly
- lens dimming for quick ar to vr transitions
- Thin 70°+ waveguides already exist and pushing this toward 100°+ like regular VR seems like a matter of time
compute puck
- probably non gaming focused at first, since gaming level compute adds bulk and heat. Lives in your pocket or clips somewhere, nothing fancy
neural band (for control and navigation)

Half the world already wears glasses daily and poeple are comfortable wearing sunglasses too. And notice most of the pain points vanish. You'd use this device for your daily work just like your smartphone. This will replace smartphones at some point.
No weird looks, no social stigma.
There might be light bleed from the sides but this is solvable.

A hunch: I still expect a vr centric device for gaming, emulation, military training, etc to exist parallely.
But smartglasses will take over the bulk of vr viewing, atleast for worldwide adoption.

My guess is smart glasses will end up being the inflection point for vr porn

Two words. Only Fans.
The pandemic changed everything. Right around the time when VR was picking up, mostly because more folks picked up a VR headset as they were stuck at home, OnlyFans boomed too. Performers started seeing more money come their way than they could ever make doing regular porn shoots.
I blame the losers that actually pay money thinking they are having real conversations with a performer with tens of thousands of subs lol. You'd think people have a bare minimum amount of smartness but they actually don't.
Anyways yeah this is the biggest reason. Big name performers don't even work that often on regular shoots anymore, they come around like maybe like once a year or less. Then there's the newbies. If you compare newbies from 10 years or so ago you find that the bar is way wayyy lower now. Most of the best looking girls don't even bother, and the ones that do come through don't stay for long. They mostly see porn as a stepping stone to gathering followers. Once they have enough they stop.
The last factor could be the difficulty of VR shoots. I think it is far more involved that regular shoots which could also disinterest some performers.

The only way forward is AI. I'm pretty sure this is the future. Realtime AI avatars that interact a with you and you have full control of the action. Completely dethroning OnlyFans and taking real people out of the picture altogether.
I've already seen what AI art generators are capable of. We don't have the tech to go all the way there yet but hopefully SLR is staying ahead of the curve and working on something mindboggling.

I say get rid of this "Glammed up plasticky" aesthetic in general.
This is why I love VREdging's minimalist makeup style. It's 1000 times better than the Kardashian plasticky aesthetic.

Honestly, its probably largely habituation. When you first started with VR it was new and exciting. Everything seemed special and awesome. Now a few years later that shine has worn off. Just like every other porn medium, producers find their formula and stick with it. Once consumers have seen that formula a few dozen times, it gets boring. But the fact is its basically the same shit they were doing a couple years ago. But your brain deceives you and you remember only the "shine" of VR yesteryear. The negative fades from memory and all you're left with is the positive. Of course rationalization ensues and you say shit like "this would have been amazing in 8k" and ignore the fact that same scene has been replicated dozens of times already in 8k.

So what do you do? Well, take a break. Put the VR headset away and save it for special occasions. Or you can escalate like many gooners do and get into fetish content.

fuccaneer Honestly though, you're right. A lot of what you said is true. In fact that's exactly what I did. I didn't watch much VR porn for the past couple years. Took a long break. I didn't even upgrade my Quest 2 to a Quest 3 until this holidays. I gave it a go this month and yeah there was novelty to go for for a while. But that was just a small part. This doesn't mean the underlying problem that I mentioned in the previous post isn't real. Bad content is bad content regardless. Hardware and getting bored is only but a small fraction of the bigger problem. People watched the same old scenario for decades. NA and Brazzers made entire websites catering to a single scenario that plays out the exact same way and why do you think people still enjoyed it? Performers. Fresh new talent every year and the famous big name talents stayed longer. This is also what Japanese studios still do, hell they even follow the same exact script right to the T and it still feels a lot better than western VR content.

seriously, these posts are of great read. I personally learned a lot about VR from them, especially the technical side of things in very short time, otherwise I'll still a complete noob to this day. lol.

I can't even come close to keeping up with all the good scenes that get released here. Not every scene is going to be to my liking, but i'm only trying to wank it once a day and there's almost always one scene that catches my eye. That doesn't even take into account the backlog that existed before i became a subscriber or the scenes that were so awesome i want to visit them again later on down the road.

I wish there were a few more harem scenes per year because those are always fun and getting Wankz back would be great.

There's always room for improvement, but overall i'm very happy with where VR porn is at.

I don't think about dying, it's still a niche...kind of... vr headsets are still quite expensive and there are literally just two things that don't let vr die..gaming and porn. But its quite difficult to bring more people in because of amount of free content in 2d where just a computer/phone/tablet is enough to enjoy hours of different type of models/fetishes/etc. I have my q3 for almost a year now, i had experience from cardboard era (just try and leave) then many years nothing and now q3. Image quality then and now can't be compared at all. I made this decision because of reviews, some spare money and literally SLR. Yes i read about some vr studios, but i'm not willing to buy a subscription and an expensive headset for "few" videos regardless of quality of content, instead of that i've checked on slr and this reasonably big library took me on the board. So i hope for content expansion (especially solo and lesbian...ehm...i like to watch a good show so what?!) and transformation from niche to standard...

Sadly the industry is not enough behind 3D/VR. They stopped 3D TV years ago for dumb reasons (i got a 55" LG 3D Tv and even the 2Dto3D conversion looks great on some porn scenes. They need to bring 3D/VR into everyones home, but thats what they refuse to to. Instead they stopped manufacturing 3D TVs. Not to speak about VR Headsets. You dont see one commercial about Rift/Vive etc.

intersting view ! I thought of that too, but i figured when putting on my headset i rather watch old (saved) movies instead of the new ones. So in conclusion it must have something to do with the models. ( To me most of them they dont look real anymore. I wonder what the reason is for implanting all that silicone, perhaps its a huge misunderstanding among models that ludicrously shaped breasts , now recently even mor LIPS, LOL just look at those LIPS everywhere, would exite men. One day we may find out ;-)

One more thing i find interesting, there are quite some models out there in particular Mature Models that never find their way into VR, do studios not pay enough ? Wonder why that is. For me personally, SLR and VRSpy studios are keeping the dream alive, i have a go at them constantly but when they get it right they are fekkin incredible - I've been watching some of the older passthrough scenes from both studios and just blown away at how good they are - No one is doing it better at the moment and as long as they listen to feedback and stop fucking up with stupid school boy errors, then i'm happy.

The Passthrough Juniper Ren scene on VR Spy which is unreleased on here is a masterpiece in all aspects and too be honest i can watch scenes like that over and over.

Unfortunately i definitly think the big studios seem to go through peaks and troughs and currently -

Badoink - Seem to be going through their orange phase where both Euro and American scenes just don't look great and have an orange tinge, which puts me off, also they need to get edgier and try something new !

CzechVR - Biggest dissapointment, the studio that got me into VR Porn are dead in the water with the worst talent pooll currently in VR (czech girls used to be top tier) and totally destroyed their Fetish Studio and may as well close it down.

WankzVR - Steady away, nothing new or exciting, but not ruining their rig is a bonus these days

Realjam, Lethal Hardcore, DeepinSex - Ticking over nicely with a nice improvement from LethalHardcore regarding image quality lately.

VRHush, FuckPass & NaughtyJoi - Image quality disaster, honestly what is going on over there, totally shit image quality, what i would describe as fluffy with zero definition.

Obviously there is a lot more to it than my quick summary, but that's the basics of VR currently IMO.

These are just my opinions and others may diagree which is fine 🙂

Lurks pardon me if i'm understanding it differently, but tech wise 3d tv tech is quite different.
3d tv glasses ≠ vr headset ≈ smartglasses.

3d tv used the tv display as the source but the glasses used polarizers so left glass and right glass receive different perspectives. This tech had some serious downsides.

Strip a vr headset like quest 3 to the barebones. The stack is pretty much 2 displays -> 2 lenses -> our eyes.
Smartglasses also do pretty much the same(atleast the advanced ones do) 2 displays -> 2 lenses -> our eyes.
They can use different display tech and lens shapes but they should be equivalent.

If smart glasses reach _100–120° fov and add full 3dof/6dof positional tracking, projection and calibration aspects, they become VR headsets.

We already have meta(Orion glasses), google(Project Aura), apple(some internal secret project) and a load of chinese manufacturers(xreal, viture luma pro, ......) pivoting to smartglasses.

This is pretty much the industry saying "vr headsets have all these pain points for mass market adoption and smart glasses is exactly the right form factor to solve that"

I guess most other studios are still stuck at lower res 7k or fake 8k( upscaling from 6k or lower, sometimes using ai filters). And they have these frequent lens focus issues too.

Yeah, unfortunately i used to hold them to account on their forum but they updated it and i can no longer comment due to outdated browser, currently eyeing up an M4 Macbook - But for me the American scenes always looked incredible and the Euro scenes were all over the shop regarding quality, but they all now have one overall appearance which is orange and just sort of flat and uninspiring - Users need to tell them or they will carry on releasing crap..

Regarding the focus issue, that reminds me of another issue with VR is the inconsistency of quality and how studios just don't seem to acknowledge feedback regarding these issues. If i was in charge and gonna spend thousands on a single scene my quality control would be off the charts with constant testing before and after release - Some of the scenes released are quite literally appalling and enough to put anyone off wasting their money on VR.

I don't think it's dying but it is not growing as fast as I thought it would. I mean what guy doesn't want VR porn lol? I think it's mostly a convenience thing though. Like most guys have families or a gf or whatever, makes jerking it with a headset much more of a hassle. Plus you have to explain why you have the headset, bla bla. Just easier to quickly watch something on your phone or something. That plus the investment and no easy way to try before you buy is the main reason I'm guessing. I do think VR porn will pick up steam again when VR headsets/glasses get more mainstream. Let's hope so
