The importance of this part is to avoid and not repeat many of the issues we still see in VR Porn that degrade its overall quality, kills its immersion and push away any new possible audiences. Because if we don't mention these issues, everything we talked about in all the previous Parts will be meaningless.
Unlike the traditional flat porn, when it comes to VR, any single issue is magnified, which is a make or break situation for most customers. Because in VR, it's not just about watching porn, but it's about being immersed and watching porn comfortability without any issues that cause visual or audible fatigue to the watcher and breaks that immersion.
Unfortunately, even to this day we still encounter issues that kill all the immersion in VR Porn videos and these issues can be related to 2 main factors, the first one is "Technical issues" and the second one is "Human error" related issues. So, let's start with the technical issues.
When it comes to technical issues, we have come a long way since the early days of VR Porn in terms of video, audio and scale quality thanks to the advancements of VR Cameras and the experiences of VR Porn Studios. I still remember when I started VR Porn back in January 2021 when I had the Quest 2 and encountered many awful technical issues and I had to figure out what's going on, like:
Low quality videos. I found and still find to this day that any 180° FOV video with resolution less than 5760x2880 looks blurry, and I concluded that we need at least 8 megapixel per eye for 180° video format to look acceptable, and of course the larger the video's FOV, the higher the resolution required for the video to maintain the same acceptable quality.
I'll just leave it as simple as that without expanding on the connection between this conclusion and various VR Headsets FOVs and Resolutions and dragging you into the PPD (Pixel Per Degree) rabbit hole. As for the blurry video quality despite using high resolutions like 8K, they are just badly encoded and/ or upscaled videos from lower VR Camera native resolutions, in other words, a deceiving marketing practice.
Awful left or right eyestrain. Because of an issue plagued the left or right side of the VR Stereoscopic video like unidentical color grade or brightness or both, and difference in focus which results in a blurry left or right side of the video.
Eye cross/ double vision problems. Mostly because of using unsuitable angles by the VR Camera man while shooting the scene. Yes, it's caused by a "user error" this time, but still considered a "technical" issue from the watcher point of view.
Out of scale characters and objects (unrealistic/ inaccurate sizes). They were either, Too small (Hyperstereo) or Too big (Hypostereo) because of incorrect Stereo baseline adjustment AKA Inter-Axial Distance (IAD) which is the distance between the two lenses of the VR Camera, equivalent to Inter-Pupillary Distance (IPD) when it comes to human eyes.
Distorted, unclear audio, or inverted audio channels. Whatever the case is, it's really awful and deserves more attention from the director and the staff. They should not focus on video quality only.
As you read, these are awful technical issues I had encountered in my early days of VR Porn. Now imagine the guys before my time, what awful things they have to deal with besides lower resolutions, awfully blurry videos and shaky cameras in addition to all these technical issues I mentioned previously.
Yes, these technical issues still pop up from time to time, but they are in the minority now compared to early years and hopefully we'll not have to deal with them anymore. I hope this serves as a reminder to all VR Porn Studios, to always give them the attention they deserve in order to prevent them from happing again.
Human error issues:
The girl/ girls eye contact with the guy or the staff instead of the VR Cam. Directors and staff, please! You should remind the girls to look at the VR Cam "US" before each scene and every position! Especially the new inexperienced VR models.
EVEN in scenes/ positions like doggy style/ reverse cowgirl if she has the habit to turn her back and head and look with her peripheral vision. She should look at the VR Cam too.
The moment the girl stares somewhere else (mostly at the guy who does the action) instead of the VR Cam, the moment it kills the immersion and engagement instantly for us, the watchers.
Actually, I can argue that eye contact with the VR Cam have an incredible arousing effect on us, even in Voyeur (Non-POV) VR Porn videos if it used in suitable themes.
So, no matter what the performance (Solo, Hardcore) and the perspective used (POV, Non-POV), or the girl(s) distance from the VR Cam, or the movement of the girl(s) body and head, the girl(s) should always look at the VR Cam. Period.
Girls rolling their eyes back to simulate "pleasure". Please someone tell them to stop this behavior. They look like a freaking zombie when they do it. I personally hate this to be honest.
As I love eye contact with the girls, especially in missionary position when some of them tend to do this awful behavior most of the time. It just kills their beauty and kills it for me too.
Although it's not my thing, but I can understand/ handle crossing their eyes like in "Ahegao" for example, it's "ok", but rolling their eyes back until they are completely white and even worse "twitching" Just Stop It!
Dirty, oily VR Camera lens/ lenses. Because nothing better than adding smudge touches to the whole video or part of it. I don't even know where to start with this. Just be sure to remind the performers "mostly the girls" to not touch or get too close to the lenses. They still can touch or get close to the VR Cam itself when they want to simulate touching the face, whispering in ears or kissing the lips, but NOT the lenses.
Or when they use anything like oil or liquid materials, doing shower or squirting scenes that could leave drops on one or both of the lenses and leave us the watchers with blurry vision and with eyestrain. Both directors and performers should be creative about handling such scenes. Also, the Director and the staff should always be sure the lenses are crystal clear BEFORE EACH SCENE/ POSITION.
Choosing a noisy environment to shoot the scene without at least isolating or enhancing the sound experience. I really value the use of different shooting locations to provide new experiences, but VR Porn Studios should be up to the challenge with all the difficulties that these environments present. Otherwise, what's the point of choosing them if they will ruin the end results.
Guys moaning, heavily breathing or even talking sometimes in POV videos. Someone should remind them to not do any of this. As much as it's hard to do, we understand that, but again, this kills the whole Immersion for us, the watchers whom "supposed" to be the guys doing the action. It's ok for Non-POV videos, but definitely not for POV, it's that simple.
Girls dumber dialogs, annoying cringy noises and screaming and ridiculous swearing instead of lovely sweet talking, sensual moaning and sexy whispering. Please, enough of the Aaaaah!!! Fuck!!! Shit!!! And give us sexy, passionate, arousing, engaging and immersive girl's voice and dialog experiences instead of distracting, annoying and dumb ones.
Directors shouting or talking to the performers while the VR Camera is rolling and recording the scene. Without even taking the time and effort to review the whole video and cut these parts out or fixing them while editing with various methods before they release the video to us. Or better yet, just be more professional and avoid all of this in the first place.
The use of flat elements inside the VR Porn. Which instantly breaks any kind of immersion, like the use of rectangular logos/ brand names or intros like some "Studios" do, or even worse, which is the use of "Multicam" and you got all these meaningless 2D flat screens floating all over the place. It's a VR Video, it should be "Pure VR" in everything, from the first frame to the last one.
Unstable/ uneven volume. Some studios still have no any sense when it comes to audio. Especially when it comes to a consistent audio level. For example, you'll either get a loud/ annoying studio brand or intro and then a quiet barely heard main scene followed by the loud/ annoying studio brand or outro or vice versa.
In any situation, you'll have to turn the volume up and down multiple times, and in both situations your eardrum will take a painful hit before you do so. Even worse, unbalanced volume level between different scenes/ positions! The volume level should be Stable the entire Video from the first second to the last one by the equipment used, or at least when editing the video before releasing it.
Inexperienced VR Porn Studios encoding. Even to this day, as of writing this post there are VR Porn "Studios" that still encode their Raw VR Camera files in questionable codecs like MPEG-4 from the 90's or using H.264 (AVC) for resolutions higher than 4K which is ridiculous!
Because in these cases you can't play these videos smoothly at all by using hardware acceleration like GPU decoders for example, because they don't support these resolutions in these codecs types. In other words, the video is unplayable, at least smoothly, and thus worthless from creation to playback. Not to mention the use of low bitrate and bad color grading for the videos, which really degrade their overall quality and breaks their immersion.
And this will conclude all these thoughts and feedbacks.
Thank you very much for your time and dedication.
I Hope you enjoyed reading them and found them useful.
Respectfully and Best Regards.
