blaze466 How did it go? To sideload it just copy it to your headset via windows and then from 'files' within the headset open the APK.

Make sure to read the 'help' for the hand gestures. And you'll probably want to start a file server with Jellyfin (jellyfin.org).

harigeharry It worked great! I hadn’t realized it was going to be able to drag the screen. The hand gestures you chose were genius! Very well done! I have no idea why Samsung couldn’t make their version like this in the first place. You are definitely right that the master SLRO files look amazing.

It’s already the best option we have for downloaded files. I definitely need to figure out Jellyfin.

Yesterday i played some old scenes I had laying around, SLR originals from the time when the Index got released, 5k quality, and even those look great. But of course nothing in comparison to the latest high bitrate files, these are so damn good on this headset.

Thanks my friend, really happy you like the app too! And yeah the XR is a killer. Too bad that the chipset is just a bit weak, but damn, those visuals easily beat the AVP. It's like the visuals are on your monitor, you dont see any pixels at all, or any kind of mura. While on the AVP there's still some (very) slight pixelation and the image gets blurry when you move, supposedly that's intentional to hide the pixelation. It still makes you feel like the image is inferior to a monitor image, while on the XR, it really starts to feel like the image could be an image on your monitor, same quality.

BTW just got my controllers today so could play HL:A for the first time on this headset, that's quite some experience as well eh, damn, incredible how beautiful that looks on the XR. Unrelated here, LOL, but damn 🙂

I tried it out, Bravo Sir! Beats anything else available to us so far!

Couldn't use or figure out a "vertical fist", but once I looked up a shaka, and realized it's the old "hang loose" surfer gesture I was golden on moving the screen around.

I have a few (possibly user error) issues though, if I may?

Trying to grab and move the menu and trying to move the slider for video segment almost seem interchangeable. I'm probably doing something wrong, but every time I try to move the slider, I move the menu, and every time I try to move the menu I jump the slider around. It almost always drags me to 50% video mark. Perhaps a special button on the menu for dragging it around? IE, button next to "pause" that says "drag", click that and move it around?

The other gesture, "show you palm to hide menu" i can't figure that one out, I show the headset my palm, and it brings up the native "circle" to then pinch and slide left/right for tabs, back, etc.
I have hidden the menu... but on complete accident, no clue how I did it, and I can't get it to come back 🤣 so I have to close out the app and open it back up lol.

Any plans on zoom in/out buttons, seek +/- 15sec buttons, or other functionality type stuff in the future?

Edit: with you app, I can now finally see the potential to the headset, like you say the byterate slow down kinda sucks... but just how crisp it is, how black the blacks are, etc... once this headset it really dialed in, someone figures out how to connect it to multifunplayer, etc... there will be no going back to a quest 3.

I dig brunette and raven haired models... so the true black is SO nice, with a quest their hair is just a blob of dark area around their face unless you over brighten the crap out of the video, but then it's so washed out....

With you app, even without contrast and color controls, the definition in just Charlotte Sartre's HAIR is a game changer!

Close up missionary is still underwhelming, but of course without the auto focus that's to be expected, I used to hate adjusting the horizontal and vertical manually so much that I just skipped over mish

Edit, what is Jellyfin, and what does it do?

Regarding Jellyfin, that's a media server. You download it to your PC (https://jellyfin.org/) and install it on your (windows) PC. You can choose which folder(s) so share and then with the credentials you created and your PC's IP address you can stream them to your headset (you enter those details in the 'settings' part of my tool). Let me know if you need any help with that, but it's quite straight forward to set up, WAY easier than windows file sharing.

So I myself don't download any files to the headset, I download them to my PC, to a directory that I've shared with Jellyfin and then I just click the "jellyfin" button in my videoplayer on the GXR and it lists all the videos in that directory and I can play them immediately.

Jellyfin itself minimizes as a tray app, so you see it in the right part of your windows task bar, if you right click its icon you can open jellyfin and make changes there if you need to. But after you've set it up, you just download all files to the directory that you shared and that's it, no need to touch it again after that.

Reeses Glad you liked it! Yeah the 'shaka' I had to look up myself too, haha, but i love it because it's hard for the system to make mistakes there, it's easy for the system to identify correctly.

About the vertical fist, its this:
But either works, although in my experience I get better detection with the shaka sign.

Weird that the 'palm' symbol doesnt hide the menu in your case. In my case it hides the menu AND indeed brings up that button at the same time. Did you try both hands (activate it in settings)?

Regarding the slider, try to make a really pointing symbol with your index finger when touching the slider and close (curl) your other fingers. The thing is that there are 2 symbols it detects, a 'grabbing' symbol to drag the menu and a pointing (index) finger to navigate the menu (and slider). So with that in mind, try to differentiate between those 2 as much as possible. Let me know if that helps. If not, I've indeed been thinking about that alternative implementation that you also mention, so a special button for dragging.

And about zoom, well honestly I hate zooming myself. I know, there are videos out there that are badly shot and there's a dick coming out of your stomach or worse, LOL, which you can indeed somewhat correct by zooming, but it ALWAYS makes the picture worse in some other way, aspects are getting distorted and while you might get the dick in the right place, the image just doesnt look good anymore. So I just dont use it myself. But either way,if I have time I can see if it's easy to implement, I dont think its too hard anyway.

BTW also wanted to add, you might have figured it out already but it honestly took me a while to figure out myself, that (especially) in passthrough videos the best experience is ALWAYS to take the same position as the male actor. So don't rotate/zoom/whatever to get the dick in place, just check out what the male actor is doing and mimick that and it should all look good already. That way the image always looks best and honestly there's not much need to zoom. Only in those cases where the video was just badly shot, but honestly, I just skip those. SLR themselves barely ever make those errors, some smaller studios do though.
