Cydewayz Awsome work! How did you manage to do that? Is this just the original one for the Quest?

Tried it on the XR, hand operation doesnt seem to work, but I guess it works fine with controllers?
Passthrough doesnt seem to work and I think the lens selection is also not correct, although not 100% sure there. But the quality is really good, it's definitely streaming at full bitrate so that's really great and way better than the website. Also I love their propiatery engine, it seems better than the AVpro one, although now I'm A/B-ing again, it actually seems to be pretty equal.

Really not sure why SLR/DeoVR are not just giving official support, seems like some small tweaks will fix those issues.

The great thing about the Hyper app is that it's using their new, proprietary, engine, which definitely is way faster than the AVpro engine. So you can actually run it at max resolution 90 hz without the headset starting to thermo throttle. That's really the big downside of the AVpro engine (and my app), you can basically only run it at 60 hz, otherwise it will start to throttle pretty quickly

harigeharry I used an porting app ive tried with several apks. the only ones i got working was the hyper app which ported fine just no haptics which sucks... I got the playa app to port which was perfect and failed on the oringal og deovr app and startvr along with prism. id still like to see what you came up with once done if it has haptics. i figured i upped my quick port for those that dont use toys.

Yeah, the menu in the hyper app auto hides after a few seconds and it doesnt recognize hand gestures so you cant open the menu again. And PT also doesn't work. But still, it's interesting to see that it plays videos fine. It's just like Grok said all the time, porting the app seems a piece of cake, really not sure why DeoVR/SLR don't care. I'm sure the developer could get it going within a few hours. Just need XR hand gesture recognition and setting up the AR part.

Either way with this app everybody with the headset at least can get a true preview of how good this headset actually is. The display quality, when playing recent SLR originals, is simply amazing. I especially love that "Cabaret" halloween video they did, not sexually, but because everything looks just so damn good on this headset.

@Cydewayz I dumped the Hyper app from my Quest 3 and sideloaded it on the XR, didnt work so your porting app indeed seems to do something 🙂 What tool were you using?

In theory we could see if we could just fix the port ourselves, unity games are widely hacked and it might not be THAT difficult to get hand gesture and passthrough going, but still, going to be some digging. And I dont have much time for that anymore, used up way too much time building my app already, LOL.

Ah Grok to the rescue:
The person on the forum (a Reddit thread in r/Galaxy_XR) was referring to Overport, an open-source tool for porting Quest apps to other XR platforms by modifying the APK to remove or patch Quest-specific dependencies (like VrApi libraries and OculusXRPlugin binaries) and adding compatible metadata. A recent update (v1.2.2) specifically added support for Android XR, which powers the Samsung Galaxy XR headset, and users reported success getting apps like Beat Saber and Arizona Sunshine 2 working after dumping the APK from a Quest, running it through Overport, and sideloading.

damn, huge bummer, like I said I planned to ask $9.99 for the app to make back some of the $200 that the engine costed, but it turns out that I can't monetize on it in my country. So not sure yet what I'm going to do...

EDIT Plan B is to sell it on the Galaxy Store, just made a seller account which is now under review, let's see how that goes ...

harigeharry Damn. Honestly, if you listed it in the google store and set up a payment option on another platform, I’d donate to it. Probably wouldn’t get nearly as much as you should for it, but it would be something.

Like said I set pricing at $9.99 to make back (some of the) $200 for the AVPro engine. And by now I think I have about 2 weeks of work in it. The app is basic but it does everything I want myself from an app.

For the moment it's hand gestures only but once I get my controllers (soon hopefully) I'll add support for that too. But the hand gestures work way better than in the web player, no accidental menu activation for example and you can choose which hand to use 🙂
