Initial thoughts on samsung xr headset.
Unboxed it and set it up.
So far (1hr in) kind of a pain in the butt.
I did not get controllers yet.
Hand tracking is decent, but not like "whoa, this is 100% accurate." So hands as a controller, lots of typos trying to use keyboards, lots of pinch, pinch, pinch, thing finally gets selected.
Loaded a Charlotte Sartre POVR scene from my computer. Of course I can't find skybox or deovr in play store, tried a few "VR video players" available in the play store... but meh, none were "click on the video and bam I'm living in this 180Β°sbs vr video." So far all the players, Including samsung gallery and Google gallery (what comes preloaded on the headset) show the video in it's flat form, ie I see two small screens with the scene happening. I could get galaxy gallery to blow up and play 180 3D, but it still felt like "viewed in full screen" vs immersed, video scaled to fit the POV, etc. She was small and far away.
So all of these stumbling blocks so far have not put me in a spot to talk about clarity, resolution, depth of black color, etc etc etc.
If anyone finds a player that is close to how deo/skybox works on a Q3 please lemme know
Edit: i kinda got samsung gallery to blow up and play the video large and in 3d sbs 180Β°. But the scaling was still way off, as though zoomed wayyy out. Can't zoom in. The UI interface shows up like double vision, seeing two scroll bars, two play/pause, etc. Closed on eye to focus w/o going cross eyed, zoomed to close up missionary, yup, she's a cyclops.... close one eye, ok the resolution is ok. But still too zoomed out to be like "whoa, I can see the details in her iris and lips!" Like I do on my Q3
I also have what seeeeeems like light leaks? But when I put my hands around the headset trying to block it, it doesn't change or go away... it seems almost like a light bloom, like when you have headlights coming at you im the other lane while driving a car.
