SchnuppiLilac Well, it's a 30Mbps cap. Clearly SLR's advanced algorithms determined that 18Mbps would be entirely sufficient for that scene!

SchnuppiLilac I was being sarcastic when referring to advanced algorithms, but in the end the communication here is also just vague enough that you cannot actually draw anything definitive from it. This is how the bitrate for PT scenes in the last year has looked like, so e.g. the 30Mbps cap hasn't been relevant in quite a while (There's a 22.8 Mbps scene as far back as May). It's also interesting that were 2 PT scenes with bitrates almost as bad as the Hazel Moore one (Rika Fane & Betzz) which didn't generate as many complaints. I think the Hazel Moore scene was the perfect storm of popular performer, short-ish duration and low bitrate resulting in a tiny file size which really showcased the issue.

So there are various arguments here:

1) "I hate this because I can't download files anymore that I don't even really like but might like some day", well I think this actually is an argument in favor of the lower DL limit.
2) "I hate this because this means that they might lower again and THEN it will be really too low". Well, this makes somewhat sense. They did change the limit before so I can understand that people are afraid that they'll do it again and yeah that would be really bad. But @doublevr says he doesn't follow that logic so let's hope that that's right.
3) "This is bad for people who take a monthly subscription and then want to download everything they've not downloaded for the time that they weren't subscribing". But is that logic fair? I've always been amazed by those companies offering that, where you simply have to sub for only 1 month and then can download EVERYTHING. To me that just seems a bad deal for the company so if that's the goal, I actually think the DL limit might make sense here.
4) And then there's the 'bro guy' who puts 'bro' into every sentence. He seems to be a nice guy but I have this strong feeling he only posts when he's extremely high, so I'm not taking those posts very seriously, sorry.

phiber I think no one from SLR cares about these complaints and low bitrates and bad image of their videos... as long as there are stupid people who are buying through PPV. No doubt they are profiting from this. Lets see in the long term. I sure as hell not gonna give 7 dollars for a single video and come next month if it stays way to not provide the original file with subscription, not gonna renew the subscription.

So let me get this straight,

When I buy an OVH server vps, I get UNLIMITED traffic for $3.40 per month. (I use it for Seedbox)

SLR @ $20 per month, can't provide that?
SLR lifetime @ $300 is 7 years worth of OVH VPS.

Furthermore, SLR is only rehosting other sites content, and they themselves only release 1-2 SLR Original videos per month. Why can't you ask these other sites to provide their own cdn links(at least of original source) and list their content for free.

If bandwidth is the problem, then remove that problem; learn how a private torrent tracker works.

If 'original source' quality is ever removed, I will subscribe to the sites that provide it directly instead.

i download reguarly as i like to watch my faves off line. especially when travelling with poor internet.
if i had to pay to download id prob not renew my annual sadly

Note to fellow users : Content comes, and goes. Don't be overly confident that your favorite studio wont pull the plug. And don't be so naive as to think the internet will always be working.
And as gram pappy once told me, companies go out of business all the time

doublevr weird that such a message is hidden in a thread like this.

This is like the 8th(?) reduction so far when it comes to scripts and/or video downloads. I've seen it happen at most once with competitors.

@doublevr You've mentioned it's to allow you to offer the services to new customers at a fair price. What does this mean? The price has dropped and is at a ridiculous low. I've paid $800 with the 'discount' for a lifetime bundle a few years ago, currently its $300 at all times, and scripts will be included apparently. What is the real problem here? Competitors offering not even 10% of content ask a similar price as SLR does, at those same competitors I've never even ran into a download limit, nevermind one for scripts which is still absolutely ridiculous. Seems obvious to me that pricing is the issue.

I hope you do keep your word and won't change the limits on existing accounts anymore, that's something at least.

These constant changes are weird, inconsistent, unnecessary and not customer friendly. Pick a way to do things and stick to it. Users don't see this coming either, 99% don't use the forum and 99,99% don't read the middle of this random thread. How is this a way to announce things?

adinihsan honestly this worries me sometimes. I feel that slr is selling lifetime way too cheap at the moment. That just doesn't feel sustainable

harigeharry have no worries. The biggest slr expense is rnd. Core operation is relatively cheap
Here we must run as fast as we can, just to stay in place. And if you wish to go anywhere you must run twice as fast as that.

doublevr core operations are cheap but downloads are a problem somehow? I refer back to the weird and inconsistent part. Why repeatedly make changes if its insignificant?
