I think it is a completely waste of time, money and resources ... lets focus on AI doing the 6DoF stuff in the future.
Win-win situation for all. No cameras, no set, no huge data processing, saving tons of money on the one side and highly customizable and own story and scripting possibilities on the other side.

Tried that one on pc, later on Quest and that is much better for some bizzarro world reason. Still not good enough though.
