I feel like VR porn is and should be more ethical than some 2D porn. It makes sense seeing as to how technical shooting a scene is. It's a good thing.

eyelust not sure what you mean by ethical. All porn should be ethical shouldn’t it? In the sense that it’s two willing participants, boundaries are agreed beforehand and not crossed, performers are tested and safe to work with and onset safety is taken care of. I’m not interested in seeing any porn, VR or otherwise where someone is being mistreated and abused.

doublevr Btw, why do SLR's high compliance standards seem to only apply to VR and not to SLR's flat section? I understand you are one of the biggest fans of that section, so you should know what I am talking about. Nothing close to being unethical or even questionable, I would like to stress. But considering that you can't even post a VR scene comment like 'this casting is a dream come true', I was surprised to see certain fantasies come to life in flat while you have removed similar things from existing VR scenes (like the time-stop fantasy part).

To be clear, I am okay with your risk-averse policy. If this is what it takes to keep this place alive, then so be it. But what I don't get is that the same risk suddenly got acceptable when it comes to entertaining a niche audience of less than 500 while VR continues to be subject to content restrictions.

I can't speak to individual studios, but a significant portion of the porn industry relies on a steady stream of weak, marginalized, addicted, abused, etc people to profit off of. Self-produced stuff may be an exception, but its delusional to think that there isn't some degree of manipulation, coercion, exploitation, and/or predation going on.

fuccaneer I am no porn industry insider but based on statements from performers during the Jimmy thing and looking those girls in the eyes every day, I have no reason to believe that working with the studios that do VR is more exploitive/abusive than any other line of work some of the girls might end up in. Of course, if a girl starts feeling uncomfortable and the whole shooting days is at stake, she might be pushed to continue but the same thing might happen at any fast food joint when trying to go home in the middle of her shift.

Maybe I am too naive but this video in which Hazel Heart is talking about how her career went down so far (incl. a 3-year intermission in a normal person job) pretty much sums up the picture I have about the VR porn industry, and hence I have no concerns supporting this industry with my subscriptions.

The VR porn industry is new and is not necessarily saddled with decades of abusive and shady behavior that 2D porn is. There may be an argument that VR porn "grew up" during a period of sexual acceptance that allows them to creep from the shadows that the 2D porn industry is still somewhat tied to. Also the accountability of "me too" and general social awareness may have been able to establish a foothold in company culture as VR porn companies were established over the last years. It could also be argued that the advent of porn self-publishing via OnlyFans, ManyVids, etc at roughly the same time period as VR porn emerged gave the individual performer more power when dealing with VR studios.

However, there's a cultural influence at work even to this day that both draws predators and encourages toxic/abusive behavior within all aspects of porn. I've never worked directly with studios or content creators, so this is just conjecture. But I can't imagine that there's anything inherent in the VR porn industry that discourages VR producers from asking for "free samples". Or discourages VR casting agents from getting talent from agents who use the same skeazy recruitment tactics leftover from 2D. Or require buyers to check working conditions in content producing "puppy mills" like VR camgirl factories. Or controls the abuses related to rampant greed or narcissism within the VR porn industry.

Btw, another thing that has shaped my image of the current porn industry is this movie. It's a fictional story, but the familiar locations and supporting cast makes it feel really authentic. Of course, our boy John Strong is in it too.

The financial bar to entry for VR porn is higher than 2D porn, so that will naturally weed out the vast majority cheapass exploitive people but the sex industry is no stranger to unethical behaviour

There was a big thread on this forum and twitter last year about a certain VR director that was reported by multiple women for sexually assaulting performers on-set and even then, a certain studio wanted to hire him and fought the community about it 🤨

But having said that I do think the VR side of the porn industry might be more ethical, partly due to how niche VR is, how few studios exist as well as the high cost of entry

Once VR starts catching on more and the cost of a high quality camera lowers enough things might change
