SLR app using DLNA on Handy

First, great product and content guys. Great to see someone pushing the bar above and beyond the competetion.

I can't get my handy to work over DLNA using the SLR app. Everything work, except detection of the funscript (no blue icon when viewing the VR movie inside SLR app over DLNA).

I have tried putting the funscript everywhere almost.... inside the headset "Interactive" folder, same location as the VR movie on my PC HDD, inside my PC documents folder... but no detection of script. I am using a PLEX DLNA server.

How can I get this working?

Munch Did you rename the funscript file to that of the video file?
ie
VideoA.mp4
VideoA.funscript

Did you set up your Handy on your wifi network and did you put in the Handy ID in the SLR app?

Which device(s) are you using?

Aside from Plex, is filesharing in your OS turned on and set to private network?
Is Plex DLNA running on the same machine as the funscript files?

Are you using a VPN?

When using My Documents folder, you should also still use a subfolder called Interactive. (I think it's case sensitive, not 100% sure)

Sure, I use that naming on the video and funscript.

Yes handy is setup correctly, everything works fine when running both video and funscript from my Oculus GO.

Yes filesharing is turned on and PLEX is running on the same server as the scripts.

No VPN.

Could you be more specific on the script location please, as im sure this is key to getting this working?

Video => Oculus GO and Funscript => Oculus GO.. everything works.
Video => PLEX DLNA PC and Funscript => Oculus GO (Interactive folder) or HDD (Same folder as video and "My Documents").. only video

How would PLEX or the Oculus GO SLR app even know to look for the script in "My Documents"?

Munch I wasn't completely sure which HMD you were using. ie the Quest can run both in standalone or as tethered like the Rift.

So, when running SLR app or DeoVR on your Go, the Interactive folder needs to be at root.
My Documents in combination with the Go won't work. You're right.

So i need to run it through DeoVR and not use the SLR app directly? EDIT: Thought you wrote on and not or... guess it can be both then.

I already have the folders on the GO set up as your image. Did you set any folder permissions or simimair? Could it be a PLEX setting im missing?

Munch Do the video's play from your Plex DLNA?
When you go through your DLNA video list on your Go, Does it show you the actual file names or titles?
If you are unsure you could test this by changing the title of one of your videos in the metadata of the file or Plex. Something different from what the actual filename is.

You would have to update the library then too though, and I know Plex isn't making it easy to do that manually.
I'd have to install Plex myself to try. But I'll wait for your response.
I simply use the built in Windows DLNA. Doesn't even need you to install anything other than windows media player (it's used to maintain the library.)

If this is something you would like to try, I'd gladly help you set it up. You don't even notice it's running when set up. The settings for it are just a bit spread out all over the place (Thanks MSFT!)

Rakly3 Yes videos play fine from Plex DLNA, only missing the handy connection.

It used to just show the filenames, but after your comment I tried adding an adult indexer to Plex to make it match the actual video. But still no luck. I have attached some screenshots, hopefully they will help. I tried taking a SLR app screenshot to show the missing Handy connection, but the overlay was not included in the picture I see.

If you could test with Plex I would appreciate it. I'm sure that would help many users in the future to get everything working, if we figure this out.

Munch Having it show the filenames is what we want, so that's ok 🙂 No worries there.

I'll look into it a bit more, but don't keep yourself from getting sleep waiting for me. 🙂
You're using GearVR? Or Go? Asking bc of your screenshot.

Munch Could you make a copy of the funscript file and rename it the way it shows in Plex, then give it another test?

When __ or - is preceded and/or followed by a space, then they remain.

So renaming the file fixed it.

When browsing the DLNA server (Plex) from within SLR app (Oculus Go), the file is named "Turkey Day Lay (2018)", so renaming the funscript to "Turkey Day Lay (2018).funscript" made it load the script in the SLR app, and I now see the blue handy icon.

So basically as your said, when using PLEX DLNA with SLR app, the name of the funscript has to match the name shown in SLR, not the actual filename.

Munch Yup, even if Plex mislabels the video, Either you correct it in Plex, or name the script as is shown in Plex.

Like i have a video with the name Haley Cummings.mp4
Plex labels it Big Boob Carwash.
funscript file also has to be Big Boob Carwash.funscript

Or as mentioned already, you can edit the title of the video in Plex itself.

Thank you so much for this thread! I was banging my head against the wall with a similar problem.

I'm using DeoVR 9.9 and streaming video files from a Plex server. Apparently DeoVR was appending "(Year)" to the title of video files and that caused scripts to not be recognized.

I was able to fix the problem by appending "(Year)" to each script file name. The year value itself is coming from the date modified timestamp of the video file.

visbalck It seems to me that you can also select all the files in plex, make a grouped modification and delete the date.
(I think I did that before I switched to XBVR)
