  • Lifetime Subscribers...should you be ignored?

Alright, looks like there might be a different cause to it then, as it differs from what I was getting when trying to reproduce the issue. Sent you a dm with some additional info request to help me narrow down the issue.

Wow, lifetime is $299?! I paid $699 previously with a discount. Well, that sucks lol.

Having said that, I don't regret making the purchase. And I didn't expect any special perks... although with the pricing drop, maybe a discount on future services as a LT member would be appreciated... discount on Drive perhaps?? 🙂

Actually, that might be a good promotion strategy for SLR. LT members get additional savings on other services (now that there are other services). It may get more LT sign-ups.

    My thoughts/rant about lifetime

SLR is fully banking on VR taking off more in the future, obviously lifetime is not worth it for the company, as they need a steady income to keep existing/growing.

The only other option is that many people purchase lifetime without needing it, and barely using it afterwards. The pricing is setup to create a kind of FOMO (very common in many industries). But obv idk the data, I doubt this outweighs the money they’re missing out on from LT members though.

Unless above is true and SLR generates a ton off of lifetime by users who barely use the service after, they should get rid of lifetime ASAP. Economically it makes no sense. The pricing seems ridiculous, its around the same as most single studios.

You ask for discounts but you should understand that after purchasing LT, SLR does not care. We are dead weight to the company essentially. DL/script limits have been reduced too many times to count at this point, now file quality is being messed around with, being an LT member before this does not matter.

I think this is part of the reason why SLR is focussing on extra services, with ridiculous pricing (Cams/SLR Drive, up next is pay per view for the HQ file). To extract money from the people who are no longer paying but still straining their network.

I hope that SLR is financially healthy and my rant is some big BS, we’ll see.

Seems like Lifetime became a Ponzi scheme, where they needed ever more lifetimers to pay for the upkeep of existing lifers who no longer bring in revenue, leading to price drops to attract new lifers who then became a drain and so it goes on until implosion. So next step was charging existing Lifers for services like high quality downloads that we all assumed would be free for life.

I would be delighted to spend extra money on real added value features, but not on features that should be standard and were when I signed up. Such a shame, as I've always loved and defended SLR, even when others were critical.

As5m0deu5 At a minimum I would have assumed you'd get the services offered at that time and not have anything taken away. But I think the lesson is that lifetime is almost always a bad idea.

Well, I try to be not as cynical. I understand that businesses have to stay in the green, and I know I will be sad (or at least miss it as a streaming platform) if SLR is no longer there... If you want to extract more value out of me as a LT member (since I'm not paying anymore), then incentivize me to spend on other services (through discounts or perks). That's why I suggested incentives toward Drive as an example. I've hosted my own streaming setup before (personal usage), so I know there is a cost towards storage and data egress. So if it is priced reasonably AND there is kicker in LT incentive, I may just spend on Drive. At the end of the day, if it's a good product/service and there is something to get me over the hump, I may just bite. Strictly speaking business, the total LT signups + LT additional spend (if incentivized), may total way more than keep them completely separated-- i.e. the whole is greater than the sum of the part as they say.

Anyhow, I've enjoyed my LT membership and have not had any issues with the service since. But sounds like some people have experienced some degradation.

I am a lifetime subscriber; I'm not sure tbh what I expected. I think they should be a little more generous to us in general, they could do all kinds of more generous shit in small amounts i don't feel I need to get into specfiics but, it is what it is. I'm also not really that upset, but this topic is asking for my opinion. Like for instance, tokens, scripts, etc.... do we really need to be nickled and dimed after such a large upfront down payment? How about some upront freebees like the free tokens we get with the SLR drive? I can see that point.

As a lifetime member I can tell you for certain I was given 2 SLR Drive tokens. But I don't think they are given out on a monthly basis if that is what you mean.

Frank54324 they said before that 2 tokens would be given out every month at the beginning of the month. Thats how its been for the most part since drive launched. Hopefully its just a delay we will continue to get the monthly tokens like was stated

...i just signed up for free VR scripted porn for life, that's all. i don't assume if something new comes along i'm entitled to it unless it is a thing all basic subscribers get. So as long as i'm getting what everyone else gets each month, i'm okay with that. i don't think having an infinitely repeating subscription gives me any more clout than someone who joins on day one, i just went all in on my hand, now i get to see how the gamble pays out.

Happily, i can tell them to their face when i think they've fucked up, they have a forum. i have done so before, i'm not banned, that says something. i don't even know if they have to have a forum, they could just have a faux-rum of shills and bots. But no, we're still here, telling them to fuck off from time to time, it's great fun. Hopefully they listen... a bit...

Also, i'm wondering how many LT people there even are? As an ongoing, screen time percentage based stat? How many hours of the total hours of watch time are LT peeps, per month? i know i watch a lot less than in the old days, i imagine most of SLR's watch time is covered by peeps that are paying regularly.

          But i'd love to know...

It's interesting that we have a thread suggesting that SLR should give LT subscribers new features for free while SLR is in fact punishing LT subscribers by taking away features.

they really deleted 2 credit every month feature after people who buy LT for it?

Seems we might be loosing slr drive completely from slr according to what was just announced. If true and will have nothing to with slr , will be extremely disapointing as drive was one of the main reasons i subscribed, and considering now canceling my membership if true

Feryomi I just seen this as well. Just upgraded to the 150gb with 25 credits 2 days ago. AI PT on my uploaded videos was money well spent but sadly they're taking off the site soon. Hopefully a new service with better features will take it's place.

Not sure what extras are being argued for, but earlier lifetime subscribers paid for more potential downloads that were reduced and reduced and reduced over time. So extra downloads, that were paid for at the time of purchase, yes, that should be more than new subscribers that are paying for whatever amount they're agreeing to pay for at the time.

What's HBR in English? Full words please

                  High bitrate I'm guessing.

Yes, that's complete bullshit. I paid for more downloads and original downloads. They've lessen downloads and now no original files? SLR are not abiding by what they sold to earlier adopters. Lifetime doesn't mean 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years.. it means lifetime. Yet they continue to reduce downloads, and now quality of downloads?

I just did a quick check and see new SLR Originals missing original quality, but other studios seem to still have original quality.
