Today the first 16k 90 fps app got released for the AVP, it's called "Prima immersive", has nothing to do with porn, it's a music video app. But DAAAAAMN this looks good!!! Wow can't wait for SLR to start shooting 16k !! I honestly didn't expect it to make this much of a difference on the AVP, I kinda thought that 8k video was already pushing that thing. But it really needs 16k video to shine!

Hehe nah with apple locking the cams on it (so no PT) and the extreme price, it's hard to recommend the AVP for watching porn. But DAMN this 16K quality is good stuff. Can't wait for this to become available on SLR, I understand they're planning to shoot in 16K soon, once they get their new cam.

This is a step up from Apple immersive videos. For the first time I genuinely felt like there was someone standing in front of me, which none of the apple immersive videos could do. Porn would be mind blowing in this quality.

I think they downscaled 16k to 8k to make it play
doublevr the avp format uses mv-hevc (multi view hevec in their format. As in two video streams that can run on Seperate decoders at the same time). So technically that could allow up to 2x 8192x4096@60fps if they have two decoders which I don't know. Of course apple being apple no details are available from their side. So who knows?
I hate all of you, I dont want to buy a discontinued AVP, specially if it cant even do PT anymore, but damn you guys are making it sound so good I'm having a hard time resisting the thought. I was considering getting a somnium headset for its superior PT cameras but now im torn, 16k sounds very tempting

FirmBark yeah. So it sounds like it's better encoding that makes the difference. Hopefully they won't be restricting the encoder to their own portal but is sounds like that's the plan. The quality improvement truly is remarkable
harigeharry Their custom camera can capture at 12K per eye, which probably helps.
