AF on DeoVR blow things up, like boobs and heads, Don't know if it has to do with the non vertical alignment...
AF on HS is not even noticable for me when it does his thing, So to say that DeoVr is better...

bazzio can you elaborate on that like making a screenshot or giving time and settings. So far Deo AF is much better for me

    Hairsational give me a sample?
some still image and what you look at with what settings to compare

Part of what makes HS AF better is you can manually adjust it. So you can adjust the mm so that it lines up with how far an object would actually be from your face.

I tried using Autofocus tonight because of this tread. I thought maybe something had changed with it. 10 secs in it got completely confused and blow up the image. This is what happened every time I tried it in the past. This has never happened once with HS.
Just play 10 minutes of a scene in HS and in DEO and you can see very clearly the difference.
I want DEO to figure it out because it makes a big difference in viewing videos.

I know is isn't about 6DOF but DEO's is close to as good as HS if the image is in the right place to begin with. The biggest difference is that once you set it in DEO it locks the ability to change those setting. So if the image is too far away and you turn on 6DOF then you can't zoom in. In HS you can change the setting while it is turned on. Fix this and then almost the same.

    1:38:26 perfectly fixes

doublevr I can see autofocus aligning the doors on the left well.

When I turn on DeoVR autofocus in a position like close-up missionary, the performers' heads become like twice as big as without autofocus. The blown-up scale is something I cannot ignore and this is why I am not using DeoVR autofocus. Some cabinet on the side looking better does not make up for that.

I can only speculate but if DeoVR autofocus is tapping into settings like horizontal offset, which I otherwise use as workaround for video scale correction, then I don't see how this is ever going to work adequately.

Yeah I am a huge proponent of auto focus but the auto focus in deo vr is broken so I leave it of. Like stated before heads often increase in size 1.5 - 2 times the size. Just toggle it on and off in parts where the girls is to the far left or right close up the camera like in vr edging and see what I mean.

fenderwq any screenshots or timecodes? I don't see it

I did take screenshots today, paused 2 cowgirl scenes and took in total 4 screenshots with AF (standard settings) and without AF...
Amazingly (or not...) i don't see any differences on the screenshots between AF or not, but it was clearly seen in the headset, the head or boobs were about 30% bigger with my focus on them in AF...

bazzio I think it is not possible to record the 3D image as you perceive it in the headset in any way since your brain generates it and it is not actually there. But I have to admit, I tried to make screenshots of this myself 🙂

I don't mean to be a dick but I don't know how else to say it. Does anybody at SLR use DEO to jerk off at home? If they did then they wouldn't need screenshots, they would just try using it for a couple of minutes and know what we all see. Everybody at SLR should have to spend one hour a week at home jerking off using DEO and watch SLRO. Directors should watch their videos. The programmers should use HS and DEO for an hour a week not just put it on for a couple minutes at work and think they know the difference.
If they did this then there wouldn't be a need for half the threads on this forum.
I want SLR to figure it all out and this would save tons of time not understanding what is different.

HS allows you to zoom out and still use all the other features to change the pitch, roll etc. with autofocus on. Deo disables all that which makes it unusable. A lot of the issues AF creates could be solved if you were able to do adjustments when using it.

I agree with others - I’ve tried autofocus many times and it never works properly. It just messes with my eyes.

@doublevr I think a good example is the Stacy Cruz SLR PT scene. In theJOI part, a lot of it, the performer is on the left or right. Turning on autofocus and moving your head to look at her just does not work well. The only way i can be immersed in it is to keep my head still and awkwardly move my eyes to the far left/right.

Thanks for pointing out the video example, JOI Stacy Cruz, where the autofocus fails. I tested it myself and can now see exactly what you were referring to, 🙂 Indeed Stacy grew big. We are still fine-tuning the autofocus feature, hopefully, we will nail the perfect setting for this soon.

Take a look at this comparison video I put together to examine the stereo disparity. It features actual left and right eye captures from my Quest 3, using both HereSphere and DeoVR with autofocus enabled. Be sure to watch past the 10-second mark, where the left and right eye images are normalized and unwrapped, making it easier to assess the autofocused results.

I have no idea what the video showed. I guess as long as the developers understand what it means is all that matters.

The general idea is that HereSphere’s autofocus delivers perfect stereo results for a target scene, so we capture the original left and right eye images as a reference. To compare, we activate autofocus in DeoVR, play the same scene, and capture its left and right eye images. This reveals how DeoVR’s autofocus alters the stereo, such as overcorrecting one eye, causing the subject to appear oversized.
These comparison images make it easier to visually demonstrate the difference, showing something like "I see this, while it should show this".
