flo The net result of the end effect isn't the issue. It's the presumption that SLR has any rights at all to knowingly distribute content that they don't expressly have an agreement to do so. By tokenizing and storing copyrighted content on their server for distribution, they would be breaking copyright laws. It doesn't matter that the end recipients might have the rights to play and store the content. The issue is that SLR doesn't, and thus can't tokenize the content no matter how much they wish they could.

There's no legal way around this barring making legal agreements with copyright holders, and that's too much work TBH.

    I still dont get, what SLR Drive is!! ^^
    I use DEOVR on my Quest, thats it! No haptic stuff, now Passthrough. Is there anything I want from it?

                VRLover69 same- it’s been like 6 weeks. I just assumed they aren’t renewing until the full release.

                  I really am looking forward to the drive, but I think the credit system could be improved. Instead of having one credit for 90 minutes, why not scale it to having 90 credits for 90 minutes? That way you wouldnt feel like wasting your credits simply because you prefer to upload shorter scenes.

                  Why should someone who generates passthrough for ten 9 minute scenes pay 10 times as much as someone doing a single 90 minute scene? Its the same load on the server if im not mistaken.
                  I feel like this just incentivizes people to upload longer scenes to not feel like theyre wasting money. Maybe people will even start editing a bunch of shorter videos to a single longer one to circumvent this.

                  I get that you are probably planning with people not using their credits to the full, so I would be fine with paying more per minute if I actually get to use all of my minutes. Just feels more fair that way

                  For those who haven't been following the changes made in the original post, there have been a number of proposed SLR Drive pricing plans.

                  2TB storage for $29.99/mo, including 30 monthly AI credits

                  500GB Storage for $14.99/mo including some 30 monthly AI credits

                  500GB Storage for $14.99/mo including some unlimited streaming only AI PT and Scripts

                  500GB Storage for $14.99/mo including some 20 monthly streaming only AI PT and Scripts

                  The latest change reducing it from unlimited tokens down 20 tokens isn't a particularly attractive plan to me.

                    What a roller coaster. Credits are just a clunky idea, at least the original 30 matched the 500gb storage size for your average 6k video. Was pretty excited about them ditching the idea of credits so it wasn’t something to worry about. I don’t remotely care about storage- it is just to facilitate passing in the PT tech to third party videos not in the SLR portfolio. It’s not even that the cost per credit went up effectively 50%, it’s that you cant even utilize the entire storage for PT in a single month most likely.

                      The whole thing is still in development. We will release a quick hack for those looking to get extra storage and tokens. Fully functional sub is coming mid year.

                            I'm very interested in SLR Drive so I've been following this topic closely. I quoted each change that I saw and posted about it. I'm part of the targeted market for SLR Drive so I thought my opinions about the plans may be useful.

                                In what way are they pushing back? The credits are by far the most unpopular and unattractive part of this whole thing for like 9 out of 10 people.

                                      When do we get our two credits? Because today we started a new month. And i still didn't receive two credits. Or how does it work?

                                      Just a guess but the techs are probably very aware of how much it will cost them to process each AI PT and each AI script. Also, storage costs. So when they see "unlimited" they think "$x per use * ∞ uses = $∞".

                                      Throwing random numbers:

                                      The current 500GB + 20 tokens at $14.99 per month:

                                      • 1 month of 500 GB storage cost = $2
                                      • 1 processing of either an AI PT or AI script cost = $.25 * 20 = $5
                                      • 1 month of overhead (development recoup, upload, etc) cost = $5
                                      • so 500 GB and 20 tokens costs $2 + 5 + 5 = $12 max
                                      • Charge $14.99 and come out with a nice 20% profit (minimum).

                                      Change that to unlimited tokens and you likely have more AI processing and more upload churn. So:

                                      • 1 month of 500 GB storage cost = $2
                                      • 1 processing of either an AI PT or AI script cost = $.25 * 20-60? = $5-15? average $7.50?
                                      • 1 month of overhead (development recoup, upload, etc) cost = $5-15? average $7.50?
                                      • so 500 GB and unlimited tokens costs $2 + 7.50 + 7.50 = $17 average but really $12-32
                                      • Charge $14.99 and ...hope

                                          Who realistically is going to churn 60 videos a month? Upload time for a single video is pretty long, not many people have time for that. I would think people will keep like 2/3 of their storage as their favorite non-SLR hosted scenes in there and rotate the others. The site still has a ton of non-Drive PT content still as well. Honestly, 20-30 credits is probably fine after the initial month or two. Just hope they at least keep it to 30 to match the storage capacity.

                                              Wondering if downloaded videos from the sites listed below work with Drive - anyone know?

                                                Garyindiana2 The source as such won't matter. It was mentioned that AI PT mask generation is not possible for h264 videos, so PT for older videos not available in h265 won't work. If it's the same for scripts I don't know.
