  • Vision Pro Compatibility & Issues

Hi all,

As I am planning to buy a Vision Pro but read confusing comments about its compatibility with SLR, I wanted to ask for some overview over what actually works great and which issues it has or features are lacking when using SLR with Vision Pro? Why isn't it the best device recommended although it has the best resolution?

Thanks for the feedback in advance

    hokan90 Hi 👋

The best way to enjoy SLR's extensive library of VR porn videos on the Apple Vision Pro is through the Safari browser using WebXR.

We've made significant improvements to the WebXR hub to enhance your overall user experience. However, please note that the Passthrough feature is not available in WebXR due to technical limitations.

We are also glad to say that the DeoVR app on AVP will be coming with a new Hyper project 🙌

hokan90 the AVP as you said is the best device in terms of specs. However unless you use it for work, or some exclusive thing (like F1 Lapz for example) I’d highly recommend to either get Quest 3 or wait for Apple to release a consumer version (suspected around €1000)

Lots of stuff is not supported on the AVP, if it was the 700% pricing would be debatable, but as it is not really. When Apple releases a consumer version, the userbase will dramatically increase and it will likely become a staple that all software wants to support.

Obviously you do you, if you got the cash (and especially if you watch F1!) go for it. You’ll find that lots of features/apps/compatibility are missing though.

F1 Lapz is working on supporting Meta devices atm so I’ll wait for that, otherwise I’d probably make the buy too

adinihsan I get what you mean but I am the type of person for which Meta Quest would not even be an alternative. I have a Macbook pro M3 and iphone 15 pro max, am well in the apple ecosystem and so far my VR device is Oculus Go which we all know is extremely outdated and not anymore supported. I am craving for the high resolution of the AVP and would not settle for any less so Meta Quest would just not be my choice. I have the money to spend, appreciate other features than movie watching and porn such as especially the mac monitor mirroring and even thinking of trying to integrate it into my work.
That having said, while I am certain about the AVP for all the non-porn features, I wanted to understand whether it can be seen as very great SLR watching device as well.

AlexSLR Appreciate your comment and I also meanwhile have read about the deoVR new app coming to AVP which would be great of course. But I do understand that through the browser there would be no noticeable drawback (besides PT) compared to let's say the Quest 3 Deo VR app watching experience?

hokan90 There's nothing to stop an Apple user from using a Meta device, as it can be entirely stand-alone. The Q3 is lighter and a LOT more comfortable (by all accounts) once you've replaced the stock Q3 strap. Sounds like this first iteration of the AVP is just not suitable for longer sessions (like > an hour). Consider buying both and returning your least favorite, which I would bet would be the AVP. I expect future, lighter Apple versions will be class-leading but I would not swap my Q3 for an AVP even if it was free, and I think most Q3 users would say the same.

vrpicasso Again, don't want to go into this discussion. I respect your opinion but imo there is no comparison, also I definitely want to have the higher pixel density of the AVP in general and I think it is the more premium and higher quality device, again porn is not my main use case and Meta Quest 3 feels more like a toy and not much different than all the other Oculus etc headsets out there.

hokan90 can't wait to get proper deovr app on avp. Would rather use it

I have both and use the avp most of the time for porn. Make sure to get a custom strap to increase fov. Pass through works via alvr but you need a beefy pc for that. If you easily have the money, get the avp. The q3 has better value for the money of course.

Hi again, I got the AVP and tried it out today. First of all I am amazed with the device and do not regret it. However I shortly tried the SLR hub and noticed some inconveniences. There seems to be no eye tracking support and one has to select the items via head movements which can get annoying. The other point is, the videos themselves were quite low resolution it seems but then I did not have a premium subscription so just watched some trailers. Am I doing something wrong or is this the state of SLR on AVP? What especially disappointed me was the live cams, which tbh look better on my old Oculus Go than on the hub.

The hub has gone a long way, it used to be unusable for the avp but right now it's not that bad anymore. Video resolution is normal, maybe you didn't increase it in the menu? However I feel that downloading the videos still has a slightly better quality. I personally download myself to my pc and then play via either a windows share or a dlna server.

Like said above I strongly suggest to get a good strap with which you can use the avp without Light seal, this will do wonders for your fov. The avp is just such an awesome device and it's extremely easy to see that apple is still planning a bright future for the device.

harigeharry You mean in the popup menu? I increased to the max resolution available but the issue with very low resolution was mainly in the live cams vr section. Maybe it was just my interent that day.. I don't have any problem with the FOV. It for sure is an awesome device. Maybe not fitting here but I have desperately been trying to watch youtube 360 or even 180 VR videos without success even through moon player and another app and safari. The flags are activated though for VR and XR stuff.

hokan90 ah never tried the cam section myself.

As VRbangers were that stupid to ban downloading from their website, you need to download in PLAYA now, which is extremely cumbersome. I downloaded a video today on my Q3 and then checked it and thought, hmmm, this quality isnt even that bad. But then when I played it in my AVP I thought, ok DAMN, this is indeed even way better 🙂 Nothing beats the AVP quality at the moment. Just too bad that passthrough is kinda difficult to get, I don't like ALVR too much and the 'workaround' presented on this forum is a bit of a pain too. But there's hope, I saw that developer iVRY just got SteamVR up and running on the AVP with his upcoming plugin, this guy is very talented so I'm sure he'll get this done. Hopefully passthrough then becomes easier to access (ALVR is kinda buggy in my experience).
