I tried the samples on Apple Vision Pro in Moonplayer and Skybox. Initially I saw the distortion everyone mentioned and it was extreme. However, this was fixed entirely when I changed to fisheye. Whatever it defaulted to had a weird window shape and as soon as I changed to fisheye it looked like a normal circle.
The first one posted, the 8k version in 4320p had the best playback. The 16k one was choppy or didn't work. The smallest file of the three (the one under 200mb) was blurry, which is what I expected would be the case.
So the first one was the best, at least on AVP for playback, but picture quality was best on the 16k version. Image quality wise, the fidelity on background objects and objects to the side were the best Ive seen on any camera! So thats promising. I agree the focus needs to be adjusted closer and toward the center of the screen.
As someone who likes non POV VR I wouldn't mind a studio exclusively using it for that (gangbangs for example) as it seems to be well suited for that. However, recognizing 95% of vids are likely to remain POV to match the corresponding demnd/viewer preference, the focal point and blur towards the center needs to be resolved.
Maybe you guys should reach out to Hugh on the Youtube channel in this thread to compare settings.
Overall, this is very promising and I hope you guys can dial this in and keep the camera. I'm so tired of the limitations and unavoidable noise we've had in VR, even with current 8K cameras. SlR comes the closest to achieving a clear image in 8K with the pre-16K cameras, but we're still stuck on a 1080p flat monitor equivalent. Hopefully that will change with this camera or a copycat soon.
