Has the bitrate or something been altered on DeoVR app

DeoVR app streaming has always been pretty bad regarding image quality / fps but has something been altered back end, the bitrate or something feels off - some of the lastest scenes look appalling when streamed.

This scene overall looks terrible regardless of resolution with an overall fluffy feeling and artifacts trying to come through

This scene i have download and looks fine apart from the vertical alignment (which is now expected from most studios due to zero quality control) but if you look at the right hand wall there are bitrate artifacts all over it that look fine on the downloaded version.

Has the bitrate been lowered to save costs ?

BTW - if any studio want to employ me as a quality controller, let me know as this is becoming embarrassing ! - Instead of complimenting the stunning girls, i find myself criticising the poor technical issues that just shouldn't be there at this point - Seriously private message me as i now have time and watch far too much VR and have now learnt to play Green Day 'Time of your life' acoustic in my spare time. Need a new challenge.

My advice is to employ an overall quality controller - unless it's intentional of course as cost cutting.

Vrsumo2017 Yeah it's definitely not the framerate for me, although that is always consistently terrible.

It's blocks and pixelation which equates to bitrate but i'm working blind and can only guess at this.

My guess is they have lowered the bitrate of streams to save on costs - But it doesn't bode well moving forward - but SLR would never admit to this if they can get away with the cuts.

I think i'm still on v69, 569 or something but somethings changed, i watch these scenes every day and something has changed.

Even more reason to download a decent copy - Surely SLR should be promotiing the quality of streaming moving forward. But instead i would never, ever rely on streaming for this exact reason. Again quality controller needed

I'm a tech wizard, but like to hold back for various reasons so i'm not held to account, always play it down to see who bullshits you and use it to your advantage, but if you don't see that then it's you that needs the glasses

Metamucil Unfortunately there is no PT AI when downloaded. I wonder how great that would be. The Passthrough AR downloaded via Heresphere is quite nice.

It would be incredible, but it's not gonna happen unfortunately - I'm always totally honest and concerned about the upcoming app update due to the fact that the WebXR format looks terrible to me, i never commented as it just doesn't effect me and learned to withdraw experience where it isn't valued or appreciated.

But im concerned that the new app may be based on this engine - hopefully i'm wrong cause the image quality is awful, but this is just a total guess - Most people understand the world of cost cutting and streamlining for more profits regardless of user experience, but that's my cynicism shining through !

If, however the new DeoVR app is genuinely built from the ground up and not some sort of 'FrankensteinApp' built from the dead corpse (for all the lefty ninnies - this is a metaphor) of the old one then it has the possibility of good quality streaming with Ai Passthrough, but who knows ?

I've got to the route issue regarding this scene for me personally - I had my 'Saturation' at +5 which was the cause of the issue.

If you put your 'Saturation' at +10 or more it will show an over exagerated version of the issue i was having.

For some reason this scene in particular was affected by use of saturation.

However +5 on saturation shouldn't be causing these issues IMO.

SchnuppiLilac Any chance you have altered sharpness on top of saturation? It seems that in DeoVR the fps count drops significantly as soon as you change sharpness plus one of the other image settings.

You were the one who kindly helped me with the 'Sharpness' issue previously when i had my Quest 2 where i was getting around 25 fps if i used sharpness so tend to avoid this option.

On my Q3 it's not quite as bad - however even when i don't add sharpness the fps seemed fairly poor compared to standalone apps like Heresphere or Pigasus even though the fps counter shows the same DeoVR looks as if it's missing frames to me even when set to 90 or 120.

Hopefully this will become a none issue with the new app

SchnuppiLilac I guess I can consider myself lucky since I do not notice missing frames at 90 or 120 Hz. I always thought this is because I am not a fast-flying insect but turns out I am part of the slow-eye cohort:

Too be honest it's mainly noticeable when i come from one the the other apps to DeoVR which makes it standout - Pigasus is rock solid for me and probably the most solid of all players regarding FPS, maybe cause it's quite light on options and concentrates of the important stuff ?

I did however manage to get Playa app working on my Q3 which has a set rate of 72 hz that's like a strobe light for me - i can definitely see flickering which is just unwatchable and everything seems to glimmer and wobble, but that's possibly due to poor anti aliasing - maybe others don't see it.
