adinihsan Not sure if I am getting your point. Are you worried about some customers losing control over themselves and spending all their money on cam tokens, similar to gambling addicts?
Remove VR cams
SchnuppiLilac Similar yes, there are quite a few cases made public of this happening, many more private. Regardless if it makes you broke or not, I don't think spending huge sums on this is healthy either way.
Essentially it's what free mobile games are to the games industry. Cams from SLR is like Diablo Immortal from Blizzard. A move made purely for money, targeting a weak audience.
adinihsan I guess it would be a nice move to implement some mechanism that will prevent individuals from ruining themselves. But that's the best you can hope for. You may have a different view on this matter due to your experiences in your personal surroundings but abolishing something that is legal but a few cannot handle in a healthy way for whatever reason is out of the question.

Cams are supposed to be on their own site, it's a completely different service, and the way SLR integrated them into the main site doesn’t make any sense at least from a consumer's perspective. They just keep annoyingly popping up in my face like I’m gonna click on them (saying this for the 2nd time). It doesn’t matter who the girl is. Even if it’s Melody Marks herself, I’m not interested in activating some dildo stuffed in her pussy, nor am I interested in her controlling my sextoy, or chatting privately with any performer pro or amateur in this industry.
I’m not saying they should remove or separate them from the site, but there should at least be an option to deactivate them from our feed for those who aren’t interested. Let us customize our feeds the way we want, not the way some stupid algorithm wants.
adinihsan What ethical standards would that be?
SchnuppiLilac I'm not saying it should be abolished or illegal. I'm saying its a scummy, and frankly terribly low quality service.

Do you really think obsessive simping over e-girls fits that description?
I would actually agree. Not once in 5 years have i spent time watching cam girls. Waste of resources

@doublevr
I don't agree that this content is predatory or that it abuses users. It comes down to individual responsibility and trusting consumers to make the decisions that are right for them. I don't think that's a good argument to make for removing cams.
The concerns on ROI and quality are legitimate though.
On a conceptual level, it makes sense for the SLR platform to invest in an ecosystem that enables individual creators. Cam content is a way to build that. In a perfect world, it would in time result in a rich ecosystem of user-created content as you see with platforms like twitch, without the burden of having to produce this content professionally.
I think this may be achievable.
However in practice, cam content is not very good today. The video is quality is grainier, and most of the time the model just sits there waiting for tips to do something. I don't really have much interest in this. Even if the quality was better, I would still not be interested interested in privates. I don't think the experience I would get would be worth it - it's just not immersive enough yet. To add to that, I also don't like paying tips.
So now for the big question. What would it take to make it workable? I don't have a perfect answer, but a few thoughts to start.
- Quality. Getting video quality of the streams closer to professional video. Even if it was on par with JP 4K content it may be sufficient.
- Haptics. Control my toy is a start, but to actually make this viable, it needs to go a lot further. Aim for PoV cam capabilities, where control-my-toy works with haptics on both sides, making CG and M positions viable.
- Monetization. Relying purely on tips for revenue here will turn off a lot of people.
The feedback from a lot of folks on the cam topic has been 'it's just not their thing'. But the interesting question to pose to the community and get feedback on... What would it take for it to become your thing? What changes would you want to be made to the cams feature-set to make it so you would actually want to use this?
sletje Not once in 5 years have i spent time watching cam girls. Waste of resources
What resources do you think are being wasted? I think neither you or I have any way of knowing whether tapping into those third-party cam feeds is profitable for SLR or not, but it seems unlikely that a loss-making feature is kept for so many years. So probably those cams (and the people spending money on them) are not taking anything away from you but are rather sponsoring the content you are here for.

You mad that other people do whatever the fuck they want with their time and money? What the hell, man...
some of the cam models are fantastic. I'd like to see slr commission some amateur content from them. They could easily produce solo and non pov scenes. I would go for that. it seems like a low cost way to boost content and get fresh faces in.
adinihsan I think the description is mostly virtue signaling with little to no actual substance behind it (beyond what can be attributed to pressure from payment processors).
The porn industry is built on exploitation and the companies in the industry are incentivized by profit much more than any genuine care about the wellbeing of performers or customers. They only care to the extent that they are able to continue to operate.
I think as a customer you need to draw your own line for what is acceptable and what is not and vote with your wallet. Not much can be done to stop simps from handing over their life savings to girls and their pimps.
...endorphins are addictive and porn is an industry built on that fact, welcome to the machine, where have you been...?
thatoculusdude I'm not mad about it? I'm sad about it.
Thread below was the inspiration for this thread. I think it shows the desperation of the cams clientele:

I made this to see the general opinion on cams, so thanks all for sharing your side.
InfiniteFun I like porn as do most men. There are different ways to do it though.
SLR is like a 5 star restaurant, cams is like adding a McD on their premises.
...nah, SLR is like a massive food hall with five-star restaurants and MacDonalds, and a variety of other eateries. They even run their own dinner. So in that regard, cams are just more variety.
You're completely right about the addictive combination of the tipping culture and sex work. Before we had cam girls, men would go down strip clubs, and blow every penny they had on some girl they'd fallen in love with, and they'd always be back, night after night. Sex meets late stage capitalism, throw in the pervasive reach of social media, and now you're literally strip mining entire demographics for cash, and making a lot of men poor. Seen it happen to a friend of mine.
But it makes bank. It makes more bank in porn than anything else, so yeah, it ain't going anywhere. May as well pull up a chair, i have plenty of popcorn...
OP you are weird, if you can't handle a FREE CAM SECTION then put your VR headset back in the box because you aren't mature enough to use it
No one is forced to pay cammers, no one is even forced to view them
Trying to compare paying cammers vs gambling is some weird mental gymnastics
adinihsan I personally know a mentor of mentally deficient kids and adults, who tells me they often spend their whole allowances on these types of things.
Not even relevant, may as well talk about how the ocean has salt in it or that birds have wings
chanser Hyper productive comment! Yeah if something like that happened for the few who would beta test such a program that could really add more long-term content and possibly be a transitioning bridge to bringing content that isn't just a temporary cam video and instead a lasting video others could keep for longer... heck also add the ability to buy a particularly well liked Cam session for future use.
