I think the old flat collection is gone and was replaced by 'immersive flat'. Based on the visual artifacts, it looks like these videos might have undergone some flat-to-stereo conversion treatment. Getting motion sick works but the videos still look 2D.

I wouldn't use the term "immersive" to describe a minor 3D affect on flat video. Its kind of cool and I'd appreciate seeing some of my favorite flat scenes from back in the day get this treatment.
However, even considering reduced production costs, this is no way comparable to 3D VR for immersion.
