So i'm going through the download options and for this specific video it is 12.63 GB for an 8k h.265
And below it there is ORIGINAL 8k h.265 for 58.24 GB.
What is the difference in these downloads?

Hi xeddin1 long story short: the video quality depends on the compression itself, which results in different file sizes. That’s why there are several options to choose from. The ‘ORIGINAL 8k h.265’ version is the best quality, but it’s also the largest in terms of file size. So it’s like ‘compressed 8k’ and ‘original 8k'

Thanks Pablo, i'll experiment with this to see if I can see a difference. Is the ORIGINAL 8k what we see while streaming?
xeddin1 No it's the other one
They've said before that streaming uses variable bit rate while downloads use constant. That implies to me streaming will always have different attributes, even if not perceptively different in quality from the various downloadable versions.
fuccaneer The comment you are referring to was misleading. The regular files that you download are the exact same files that SLR uses for streaming. These files are all variable bitrate¹ while the "original" quality ones can be variable or constant bitrate depending on what the studio supplied.
It would be an enormous waste of resources for SLR to be encoding separate versions for streaming and downloading given the number of scenes they have to deal with. For every scene they already have to encode h264 and h265 versions for like 5 different resolutions.
¹ In reality the video bitstream of these files is much closer to constant bitrate than variable bitrate.
PabloSLR Hello,l intend to change my standalone quest 2 to pcvr quest3,Will the picture quality be improved ? And what 40gpu should l have
Hi sheldoncooper I don’t think it will be, to be honest, since Quest 3 won’t display the full resolution (let’s say 8k). So, you will basically be limited to the resolution of the headset and in this regard, the picture quality won't be improved. Also, we do not recommend Link or Airlink to avoid potential connection/streaming issues.
