Funny thing we see with producers leaving is that it never impacts new users acquisition or retention trends, but cash distribution within premium creators. And VRB got three times in and out which is direct competitor to SLR Originals. It's in producers best interest to take the most of SLR money. Most of VR sales is coming from new users that never heard of olds producers.

Anyway. If we want to scale the market we have to bring new cool stuff on top of vr180 everyone is filming.
That's why the app, sex toys, cams and passthrough are our top priorities. 6DOF comes next along with super engaging smartphone app that should also give you full control of everything you watch in vr.

When it comes to production directors pool is the biggest limiting factor. There aren't many who can make sense of VR filmmaking providing you guys cool weekly updates on a regular basis.
The only reason we ever got into production was because no one was doing it right and we've made it like no one else. We are on a constant look out for new cool directors and production ideas. Keep bringing it up.

What we've learned so far is we don't want to do generics like everyone else is doing.

    Most new users, and even regular users, don't engage in discussions or give feedback in the comment sections. I was the same, just browsing the feed, picking what I wanted to watch, and never thinking about making requests in forums or sharing my opinion. So, many new users have no idea about what's coming or the changes in what they're paying for. Some scenes get like 5k likes, and that's only counting those who click the reaction button, not the ones who just watch.

    About the phones, they shouldn't be just about controlling what we watch in VR. A phone and a VR box are a great introduction for anyone who never tried VR porn before. I remember using this method to watch scenes for almost two years from 2017 to 2019 before I finally decided to get a headset. It's the cheapest way to watch VR, all you need is one VR Box and a Remote that connects to phone via bluetooth and doesn't do much but can recenter the view and jump forward and backward. RIP NAVR was my first subscription. I remember using the 'VR Theater' phone app to watch those scenes

                ...so maybe one day SLR learn how to capture a 3D video of an [insert anything you want], using multiple cameras say, and then use that location fixing on the Q3 to place her where you want in your home, with perfect perspective, VAM level fuckery with real people. Or produce a haptic device with twice the power of a Handy, but even more connectable. Or figure out how to get CAM girls to wank you off in real time. Or run multiple scripts from the same headset, no need for Buttplug.io, etc. Or make a game that's essentially easy mode VAM for headsets. Or something else, go on, surprise me!

                That's why i'm still here. Yeah, i got real mad when VRFanService left, and at other times when content went walk about, but i've never run a porn studio before, and i honestly can't say i'd have done any better. The business sounds incredibly cut-throat, people crash and burn all the time, it literally kills people, destroys lives, and despite all that SLR are still here, still innovating, still looking to the future.

                Obviously i want more content, sumptuous, scripted, two hour BGG+ productions, with a decent plot, and intense emotional engagements. That's my thing, i like my total immersion. Hopefully a decent director will step up to help produce them, i now understand how bloody difficult it is to find such a person, VR is a niche, and hard to shoot in. Incidently, i really liked Nash's last video, where we got Polish lessons, that was an interesting way to engineer engagement. It's just unfair to expect one chap to do everything, i'll just keep holding out for another director to emerge to help carry the load.

                SLR has changed, it would be crass to deny it. As has been pointed out, we've had the 'golden age' of VR porn, peeps have seen it, done it, and gone back to watching the actual thing they like in 2D. In that respect, it's easier to think of VR porn as a fetish in its own right. For example, i don't give a flying fuck about vanilla porn in 2D, but in VR i enjoy it thoroughly. They are not the same thing. One is not an upgrade of the other. The way in is not the way out, etc. And SLR is still forging ahead, despite the drama, and dick heads like me ranting and raving on occasion, so i'm actually very optimistic about the future.

                Just please don't wipe the back catalogue, it's your crown jewels, and please please please don't let handcrafted scripts become subsumed by AI ones, is all i'd ask at this point...x

                I am a life member and I don’t regret it; I cannot judge the evolution because as I love collected the videos (take extracts) I am currently watching the videos from three years ago; the two things that can be a problem: it's deo because with my HP reverb headphones for a few months: it lags: but I use heresphere then I don't do streaming; and second: the number of downloads reduced to 30 every 6 days; but hey I gave myself a limit to my accumulation: so in a few months this will no longer pose a problem for me, and what's more I am a lifetime subscriber to vrporn, taboovr, and wankzvr; so i have more food than i can eat lol; so here I understand that slr must also continue to survive and I manage to get around the disadvantages in my own way;

                I don’t think SLR is lacking good content, just that there is so much more content now, that there is bound to be some stuff that you’re not interested in. The good content is there, you just have to sift through it and be selective. I don’t regret my lifetime sub. I come here to experience sexual encounters with beautiful young women. I have faith SLR will continue to be a positive entity in the industry, and that it will reshape people’s attitudes towards adult entertainment. It can be a breath of fresh air in this “polluted” industry. I never visit pornhub anymore. I have no need to. Could it be that the “novelty” of VR porn is wearing off? I don’t find that I am as “excited” about it as I was when I first got into it.

                Pretty new to the forums, but I've been a SLR + Handy script subscriber for a little while. I'm a bit wary to say anything given the posts of Admins in this thread, threatening bans/censorship etc., but still want to weigh in with a more moderate voice & hoping I won't be banned for not being a total fan. I've gotten a lot of enjoyment from SLR content and partner content so far as a subscriber, along with the AI scripts which aren't always perfect but seem pretty good for how developed I assume the technology is right now.

                I have personally found the more recent SLR originals to be geared towards an edgier or more niche preference than what I look for; can't say I didn't like aspects of them, but clown roleplay seems aimed at a niche, and I'm not in it, if that makes sense? I like something along the lines of a sensual/GFE buildup, regardless of the pretext, that goes into increasingly hardcore action. Maybe SLR should split up its series like other studios do, to be easily searchable? And add more tags/categories for videos on the SLR site so people can find more of what they want?

                        doublevr I'm beginning to seriously consider VR content creation. I love the technical achievements of SLR but like many others, I've been feeling the lack of quality content with only a handful of studios hitting the marks with scale, camera position, lighting and performance. With a background in film and photography, and a lot of experience watching VR content, I'd really like to give it a shot. I'm trying to figure out a camera set up. The Canon system's IPD seems to be too far off and the only other cameras I'm seeing with decent IPD is Kandao and ZCam offerings. I'm curious what studios like POVR use. I've noticed lately SLR originals sense of scale is a little all over the place and nothing has made it more obvious than AI passthrough constantly requiring adjustments to horizontal spacing to try and fake the scale. Any info on technical specifics would be great.

                        I really want to make content with a good sense of scale for the majority of users and focus on high quality naturalistic lighting and plausible scenarios for performers.

There's a lot about the SLR originals I like and a few things I could criticize, but it would be just my opinion, for whatever it's worth. Is there a good place to suggest actresses I think SLR should hire? There are a few that I would love to see in SLR Originals, but I'm not a promoter. Ivy Ireland, Addison Vodka, both incredible and should featured A LOT going forward.

                                doublevr There is some marketing 101 rule of thumb that predated social media that when a consumer has a bad experience they tell 7 people on average about it and when they have a good experience there is a one in three chance they tell one person about it. Social media just made it worse by making it easier to complain. The current survey results above reflect that. There is no way the consensus across the spectrum of your clients feel like SLR isn't continuously making overall improvements. So I am glad you pay more attention to the figures than the loudest fringe of subscribers.

                                I have owned a sub to every other major studio at this point and SLR is way better than the second best (POVR) and that is largely due to your advancements with DeoVR and PT. I have contemplated just canceling my other subs because your PT AI has ruined my enjoyment for all non-PT.

                                I do wish there was more SLRO and SLRO AR. As someone else stated SLRO was in peak form in '23 and with AR particularly around September. Your Sisi Rose SLRO AR PT has to be my most watched scene in VR.

I voted "Worse" based almost solely on comparing 2024 SLRO's to 2023 SLRO's, but really even though this years new releases aren't as good as last years were we still get to watch all those 2023 releases on top of the new stuff.

                                        Also even though they've lost wankz and swallowbay they've gained some new cool studios like Upclose and Massaged.

                                        and of course the AI scripts and passthrough are new also since i joined.

                                          I have said this before on here. And we can't be the only ones.
                                          IF you look at GFE videos, they almost always get high numbers. But SLR shoots Step videos 10 to 1 vr GFE.

                                          I have never seen a 1 on 1 wife video by SLR EVER How is this possible? I guess when they are sitting around thinking of the next scene they always think it needs some crazy idea. I don't get into the crazy "never going to happen to me" scenes.

                                                A little late to the conversation, but jumping in to throw in my 2 cents.

                                                I got a lifetime SLR membership about a year back, and no regrets. At the current 800$ price for the full bundle, it's a bargain taking into account what I get.
                                                It also has not gone unnoticed from recent threads that SLR staff take pride in making sure they 'do right by their lifetime members.' When you look at the overall offering, direction of the company, and the staff's appreciation for lifetime subscribers, it's a no-brainer.

                                                Now, my take on the original prompt above.... SLR today looks very different from the SLR we had in 2023. And there is a mixed bag here.

                                                Strengths

                                                1. Platform Tech. The SLR platform is unmatched on the tech side. No other studio offers the integrated offering that SLR has. Over the past year, we've seen SLR roll out the AI scripts, multi-axis, PT, and AI PT. With SLR drive and Miles High Club on the way.

                                                2. Platform Usability. Similarly, no other competitor comes close to the seamless playback that SLR offers, with turkey functionality for scripts.

                                                3. Community engagement from SLR Devs on the forums, as well as a direct line of feedback/engagement with content products.

                                                Opportunities

                                                1. Content Library. Some studios left, but other new ones joined. Even with the major studios that left though, the overall content library remains huge, higher than any other site.
                                                  However, the rapidly evolving nature of VR tech is a headwind here. Content becomes obsolete fast. While I realize there are different perspectives on this, personally, I only really want to see content shot with the latest equipment and the best lenses. Content more than 1-2 years old, or from studios that use sub-par equipment, just isn't as compelling.

                                                2. SLRO production. No need to beat a dead horse on this one. SLR has already acknowledged this and is working on it.
                                                  What I do want to add here.... It is really really important to establish a healthy in-house pipeline of content. As you stated, @doublevr , your focus is mostly on the platform side. However, even if you build a strong platform, it's not necessarily a recipe for success.
                                                  We've seen this play out with Netflix and the streaming wars. Content providers pulled out and silo'd their content. Which is why we see Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Apple, all bankrolling exclusive content. We're seeing the same phenomenon here with studios leaving and big content producers (vrbangers, czechvr,...) steering clear of the SLR platform.
                                                  As you noted, the drop in SLRO content did not affect new user numbers. But I suspect in time, it will affect retention (as we saw with Netflix).
                                                  I don't want to give critical feedback, without also offering ideas for potential solutions. As you noted, there is a shortage of directors. Unfortunately specialized talent shortage doesn't typically fix itself, and requires a dedicated strategy. Consider the following:
                                                  a. In-house growth path. Can you build a training or mentorship path to offer to interested existing employees to grow toward and transition to a director role? Amazon is known to employ this with distribution center workers, offering training opportunities to get into high tech development roles.
                                                  b. White glove partnerships (ie 2nd party content) . While not exactly an SLRO boosting strategy, this may help improve the quality of content. We've seen this methodology used in tech companies to prime app stores with content. The idea here is to have an employee work hand in hand (ideally onsite) with a content producer to help them get the most of the SLR platform. From getting video optimized for the SLR platform, learning to use SLR analytics, but even camera setup and techniques.
                                                  c. Break the problem down further. I am not quite sure I fully understand why exactly directors are so hard to find? Why is it such a specialized role? The project management skills will be common to other roles. Is it the technical side? Understanding of the lighting/ operation of 3d cameras? Can we identify what the blockers are? If this can be refined and understood, it may be possible in the long term to generalize the role by filling the gaps via processes and tooling.

                                                3. Marketing. I think I commented about this a while back - SLR has a marketing problem. But I have some more thoughts on this now that I want to expand on. First of all, I'm glad to hear you are looking to re-vamp your community outreach. SLR does not have good name recognition, that needs to be fixed for the platform to grow.
                                                  This is important because if the user count grows, SLR's leverage as a platform also grows, and it will become a lot easier to solve the content problem.
                                                  Here are a few ideas and things to consider with respect to this:
                                                  a. There is a lot of opportunity to convert 2D adult users to VR users. Since SLR is currently the front-running platform among it's competition, a perspective new adult-vr user will likely choose SLR. Consider running ads on 2d adult sites like pornhub.
                                                  b. Make it easy to see the best SLR has to offer. A new user is going to want to see what you can offer before giving you a credit card. They will poke around on your site and look at the 'Free' section, which is out of date. I would suggest putting up at least two recent full length videos (1 PT and 1 VR), each with scripts. And update these yearly. (similar to what CzechVR does). Give perspective buyers a free sample of the very best content and capabilities you can offer, and it's going to sell itself.
                                                  c. Make it easy for perspective subscribers to get their foot in the door. Offer a 'free' trial. 14 day streaming-only trial for only 1$.
