  • Downloads plan revamp

OliverDK My comment was more about VR in general not haven taken off jet not just porn. I mean, once VR in general gets bigger more people will start using VR porn too and companies can start to cater to more niches (looking forward to some niches myself). Bit of a chicken and egg situation if you ask me.

But I do get what you mean too. Especially find POVR very vanilla nowadays. What keeps me interested the most now is the new AI passthrough, JAV scripts and revesting old content.

harigeharry 30 per month seems fair to me. These files are HUGE, everybody understands there must be limits, either in file size or download limits. I very much prefer the last. And 30 per month won't hurt normal users. Seems like a good decision to me.

Only if your definition of a "normal user" is someone who primarily streams and only downloads infrequently. 30 downloads per month will absolutely hurt anyone who primarily downloads and there are plenty of people who do that.

Today: "If you're regularly streaming and watch PT your download limits are going to be much bigger"
T+3 months: "Data shows all users love streaming and PT. We're ramping up our PT production and reducing downloads to benefit all subscribers"

MikeOxmall T+3 months: "Data shows all users love streaming and PT. We're ramping up our PT production and reducing downloads to benefit all subscribers"

2 year on --> Some heavy users are streaming full 100+ videos/weekly. We therefore reduce streaming to 30 full streams/per week or x amount if minutes. Sounds unlikely - well so did download limits some years ago.

Hairsational fenderwq Maybe. I hope so. That's why I'm still around. I think VR has huge potential.

It's just I heard the same years ago. 'VR porn grows. Just a few more years.'

But only time will tell. The tendencies I see with capping downloads or removing it almost completely seems to me more like a cut cost issue because of pressed finances. But I don't rightly know. Just how it seems.

OliverDK seems to me more like a cut cost issue

This is my impression as well, the market is saturated and not growing anymore. Moreover, no major player is joining the party. Brazzers was supposed to enter the adult metaverse as part of joi.city in Nov 2023 - that never happened and joi.city doesn't even exist anymore. Adult Times has produced 13 original videos within 6 months and still only has a total library of less than 500. The number of VR cams is the same as it was two years ago. And there is no VR iPhone on the horizon that would suddenly boost the number of potential users.

Don't like this trend but not much worth downloading nowadays anyways.

I download a lot more now that the steam deovr runs awful and has issues with centering the UI in a place you can look forward at. So I download and use another player at times.

So maybe this will be my goodbye

ramdy83 has issues with centering the UI in a place

Uninstalling DeoVR and reinstalling the latest update that came out last week fixed that issue for me

Is there more information on the SLR drive that was mentioned. Will it cost extra? How much space? Will I be able to put non SLR scenes In there and play them through Deovr? I'm kind of a tech dummy so any info for what this will be used for is requested.

Hairsational Well honestly I don't find that much video's worth downloading anymore on this website. I mostly like the SLR originals and sometimes something from a smaller studio. I actually wish I saw more than 30 hot video's in a month on this site but honestly, not getting anywhere close.

doublevr 3x times download booster for active sub users will be like $39.99/mo.

How does the booster plan work exactly? Monthly sub with 30 downloads $30, monthly sub with 90 downloads $40?

doublevr So, botters will farm long-term 'street cred' then only download a 'collective' list to do that one 'thing' that is highly discouraged...?
I like the idea of long-term credibility making the site easier to download from but, either way abuse will still happen... also using a 'good' VPN will still break downloads so they never finish, like now.

doublevr What I am trying to say: If I am willing to pay for more downloads and a monthly sub to another aggregator is (much) cheaper than the SLR booster and has more benefits (= exclusive content, 600 or more downloads) at the same time, then it will be an easy decision. So if SLR wants my money, the price for the booster needs to be lower than a monthly sub somewhere else.

If SLR want to limit download bandwidth, perhaps a review of the specs for "ORIGINAL 8K" high bitrate files should be considered.
Some of these can be very large files and whilst I appreciate the quality, anything with a bitrate over 60Mb/sec will be hard to pick on a retail headset.
On my Q3 using network storage, 60Mb/sec is a good upper limit for playing files without buffering. There must be a good reason that this is what CzechVR use as a standard bitrate for their 8K files......

Some studios and videos disappear from SLR with little or no notice.
N.B. on my SLR feed today (1st July) advised MariaMartinezVR will leave on the 27th June (a few days ago), so has completely disappeared already, with no ability to download anything that may have been of interest.
Prior warning would always have been nice!

Hairsational the rumor has it more sites are considering pull a plug on downloads. SLR is going to be your best offer as it always is
