Hairsational I get that you want a cheaper sub option but that's not what this thread is about

What do you mean, I'm advocating to keep the downloads but also give an alternative option.

The vr sites are advocating no downloads. Not me. Lol

vrpicasso they somehow took over the oculusnsfw sub with that bullshit thread listing VRporn as everyone's favorite website, based on a poll which didn't even include them. The poll was open for like 3 days or something, initially excluded SLR

Man... I remember hearing something about this, but thank you for reminding us again with the links and how VRPorn.com wasn't even on the initial poll! I've actually submitted "mod mail" to the moderators 2 weeks ago after the news of the download button, to try and get this sticky post edited, or have the top sites removed, but they haven't responded (nor do I imagine they will).

I really wish we can somehow get that post removed... It's truly a disservice to new customers. It's not at all indicative of trustworthy VR sites, and sites that produce good VR content. Even putting aside that the results were fixed / doctored, the rankings are severely outdated too.

There was a tiny ounce of belief that I thought maybe VRB isn't so dense and stupid that there has to be another reason besides piracy that they removed downloads... But nope. After reading that, and uncovering some of the May 25, 2023 posts pointing towards piracy as the reason... really shows just how dumb VRB is. The pirates will still be able to rip/download the scene and post it on the internet. What VRB did by disabling downloads only punishes their paying subscribers. The ones that actually pay for their porn! Pirates will always find a way. My goodness VRB... idiots.

SchnuppiLilac Same thing just happened to me, “suspended indefinitely.”
Didn’t harass anyone. Just stated my own disappointed in their discission to take away downloads, the issues using playa desktop app to download, acknowledged the fake accounts posting on videos and supported others posting their issues. LOL

g2kbuffetboy Make a post about how they are deleting posts and banning users who speak out about the download removal. That'll probably do it 🤣

Is the post about the lawsuit still there? I'd imagine that would have been removed quickly.

g2kbuffetboy Everyone who was calling out their obviously fake accounts to praise all their own videos and talk crap back at their users, seem to be gone now too.

Man... seriously. VRB videos are only to be acquired on the high seas, from this point forward. I will never give that company money again.

Last thing I saw was that they were called out for tampering with the Terms & Conditions. They officially claim they have updated them on June 10, two days before users were notified in the forum. One user had quoted a section of the T&C related to downloads in the forum on June 14, and the same user had noticed on June 24 that the part of the T&C that he had quoted had been secretly changed between June 14 and June 24, while VRB is still claiming that the last update took place on June 10.

What they had added to the T&C retroactively was the fact that downloads are available only in the PLAY'A App.

g2kbuffetboy I assume my forum account will be suspended soon enough... surprised it's not yet considering they just deleted a bunch of my posts.

You may as well have been suspended - that forum is totally pointless now, the truth is out there !

The way they handled it is nuts. They must really believe that they can sweep it all under the carpet with no consequences. It tells you everything you need to know about the management at that place, if it wasn't already obvious.

Their posts under the alt accounts reminded me of how Jimmy reacted when he got called out here too.

Got an e-mail from VRB, stating the reason for my suspension, and I quote: --- ---
I could be wrong but I think it means that I have won a trip for two to Vegas! 🎰 🎰

Suspension from the forum also means that I can't view the comments below the scenes on the website anymore, so I am completely in the dark now. It was remarkable to see all users without a single exception agreeing that VRB's decision and way of operating is just wrong. All users that at first appeared to have a different opinion turned out to be VRB fake accounts.

I am still a valued member of the VRC community. Like VRB, the forum is a 'Joined May 25, 2023' family gathering. While the download button is still there, the T&C of VRC have been updated on June 10 as well and already contain the 'downloads are available only in the PLAY'A App' clause. Someone asked in the forum whether there are plans to get rid of downloads on VRC as well. I don't expect a reply.

Man ima chime in on this Playa app.

I ai my comment I left over on another forum

      Here's the new version

      ...
Honestly, I think it's a marketing strategy. I believe VRB is trying to promote their "Playa app." Out of curiosity, I decided to check it out since it has been years since I last used it. I was pleasantly surprised by how much they've improved it!

Previously, the app was very basic, lacking features like thumb control tilting. Now, it includes advanced features such as pass-through with drippers and a chroma key, which significantly enhances the viewing experience. Their PT videos work seamlessly with the app, and the streaming quality is excellent. I remember it used to take a few minutes to load and it would load randomly during scenes was very annoying, but that issue has been resolved. I guess 🤷‍♂️

One feature that would be a great addition is "dome rotation with roll," but overall, it's a nice app. If I ever decide to subscribe to VRB, I would definitely use it. If the only way to stream their content is through the Playa app, and it offers good picture quality, which looked great even at 8K resolution on a fast internet connection.
VRB has done a great job with these updates. 👏

I also remember the Playa app had a panic button that would open a page full of cat pictures. It was a humorous touch! Another feature I thought was cool was the "pop shot" button, which would quickly take you to the pop shot. I'm not sure if that feature is still available though. 🤷‍♂️

Overall, I'm amazed by how much the Playa app has improved after not using it for years. Great job on the updates, VRB!

      Side note.
The color image settings worked exceptionally well at manipulating the picture quality. The adjustments allowed for precise control over the color balance, contrast, and brightness, tint, significantly enhancing the viewing experience. This feature is definitely worth exploring in detail. It might be a good idea for Deo to update its own color image section to match these capabilities. Enhancing color settings could provide users with a more immersive and customizable experience, similar to what the Playa app offers, it kinda reminded me of hs. 🤏

But in the end, it still isn't web search-friendly. Of course, VRB works on it, and I think BaDoink does as well. I'm not entirely sure which other sites are compatible, but the lack of convenience is frustrating. I'm not about to spend time searching for which sites work with it.

It would be much more user-friendly if there was a comprehensive list or if the app could automatically detect compatible sites. This way, users wouldn't have to go through the hassle of figuring it out themselves.

And im no bot, I'm telling yall this app was trash years ago was very frustrating to use way back when.

      All the apps I've tried
      Skybox
      Playa
      Piguas
      Samsung vr player "gearvr"
      Gizmo
      Hs
A few others I can't remember the names
But deovr ultimately became my go to for streaming, all the apps have there strong points, but deo vr imo just more convenient.

Oh, I almost forgot—developers should definitely check out the 6DoF feature on the Playa app. They might be implementing something unique, possibly even different from what Deo and HS offer. The 6DoF on Playa worked exceptionally well; I noticed some distinct improvements.

While I couldn't perform zooming motions like I can with Deo and HS, where you can use motion zoom, there was something noticeably different and better about Playa's 6DoF. The tracking and movement felt more precise and responsive, making the overall experience more immersive. It's definitely worth exploring to see how Playa's 6DoF stands out and if these enhancements could be beneficial for similar apps.

The updated Playa is a huge improvement compared to years ago👍lol I'd probably just use it to check out trailers cuz there trailers are not in 8k on other sites. 🤷‍♂️

If you use vrporn on it for trailers, it says 8k but it's not, on vrb you select 8k and you can tell its a different picture compared to vrp, looks clearer. 🤷‍♂️

      Edit
And it has so much setting to mess with now, idk even what most of this stuff does.
Also the playa volume is separate from the Quest app, wich is great! For controlling separate volumes. 👍

Deo needs that! Really All player apps need that.

Vrsumo2017 You clearly have some skin in the game regarding VRB. Normal users aren't going to write giant walls of text defending them from this, just because they like their app.

Vrsumo2017 well that is a very verbose review of the Playa app. However, it lacks a glaring omission and what this thread is all about. What was your experience downloading a file with the app?
