rustynailinabucket9 if the "fix" you were using was the browser extension, yeah maybe they temporarily broke that with the site redesign. However, the the developer tools work around is still working, so either use that method or wait for the extension developer to patch your tool.

Back in June, I had a big mouth on the VRB forum, threatening to cancel my subscription if the download button wouldn't come back. For a while, I was worried that I might become weak 6 months later when the day comes. But you know what?

Btw, they are making cancelling really hard by - guess what - hiding the 'thanks, but no thanks' button when presenting their special offer. I couldn't make the fix from the thread below work, but the payment processor had some accessibility features on their website that made it reappear after fiddling around with them for a while.

I always subscribe through temporary cards and immediately delete them so that I dont need to worry about cancelling. If a subscriptions worth it to resubscribe then I will remember to do so when my sub expires.

I genuinely am curious how doing this is in any way beneficial to their business when it simply pisses off their customers and makes people use more streaming data which increases their overhead. So where's the incentive? Is Play'a paying them? I assumed it was developed by the same company since VRB network is the only one using it.

For subscribers, as long as you can stream, there is a way to capture that stream to download. There are many ways to do that.

BTW, their restrictions don't seem to be stopping people from posting their videos online.

rustynailinabucket9 there's some unmentioned incentive to these companies having you stream content in their apps. Either the analytics is valuable to them inhouse or they sell it to a third party, who knows. The purported reason of preventing/reducing piracy is bullshit nonsense.

rustynailinabucket9 Yes, Play'a is from the same company (Swearl, LLC) that owns VRB network, Dezyred, VRPorn, VRSmash, and whatnot.

Regarding streaming, I think 2xVR once posted here in this forum that on average people actually watch like only 20% of a video. If this is true, the traffic of downloading an entire video would be equivalent to streaming it five times. But maybe more important, 'streaming only' means that you can access content only when subscribed, while with downloading it was possible to get the entire VRB catalogue within 3 months and then quit for a year or two.
