  • Heresphere on SLR

I just compared Heresphere to DeoVR. Heresphere just has better visual quality, colors are better and everything just looks a bit sharper. Is there any way to use this app in combination with SLR without actually downloading video's? Couldn't find a quick answer and didn't really see any options in Heresphere to connect it like you can connect DeoVR. It's seems it's not possible but hoping it is.

Thanks!

Last time I checked, SLR had no intention to support HS.

In the past, I think someone mentioned that you can stream by using the download links from the website (website accessed in HS), but this will count as download, so you are limited to 30 videos within 6 days.

doublevr Hey, cool to read that you guys are open to that! Actually will shoot a message to them, who knows, seems like a win/win for everybody. I mean it's not a day/night difference but it surely is a tad better in my opinion. In fact, I'm on the Quest3 for almost 3 months now and I like it because of the PT, but felt that the visual fidelity was a step back from my previous headset, on which I always used to run Heresphere with steamVR. But now that I tried Heresphere on my Quest, I see that most of that difference is actually due to the player, not the headset

A smart VR studio would make an offer to buy Heresphere and keep the developer in place, but it would have to remain an open-walled app that can be used with any content. Maybe offers have already been made and rejected, who knows. It's like Photoshop while the other players are MS Paint.

phyuggene wrong. The dude just wants it all free and doing nothing

It's a wrong form of cooperation he is talking about

doublevr Ok so for it to happen he would either need to pay SLR for access or contribute something back to SLR in return for the access?

phyuggene we can discuss the options in person. So far he never approached us with anything but "give me everything I tell you". And we did at the start before he got even more exploitary.

He wants SLR and he has to make us want HS

Years later he proved HereSphere is nothing else but a copy of DeoVR streaming functionality and logic with some perfected features that we are about to get an edge in 2024.

doublevr Uh oh, that sounds like a deal is not very likely. Well honestly if you guys can get DeoVR to match the visual quality of Heresphere, then there's really no reason for me to want Heresphere anymore, it's all about visual quality. If they both had the same quality, I'd even prefer DeoVR. The Heresphere GUI just confuses the heck out of me while DeoVR is very intuitive. But in the end visual quality, at least for me, is THE most important factor so right now I wish there was a way to get SLR on HS. The SLR original scenes just shine on HS, it's like a match made in heaven. Too bad to hear the owners dont agree haha.

DeoVR should consider leveraging Unreal Engine 5 for the video player (Heresphere uses UE4).
That alone would dramatically boost the quality and capabilities of the DeoVR player.

I haven't used Heresphere myself (as I'm a Pico 4 user) but when I watched a video of it in action the menu's seemed dense. I appreciate the options but at least with DeoVR the simpler interface I think is more suitable for watching VR porn. If DeoVR could increase the image quality an bring some of the Heresphere features like autofocus, that would be the perfect combination IMO. It may just be that I've used DeoVR for years now however and I'm just used to how it functions.

You can stream using the download links.

Honestly I don't notice so much a difference of quality compared to deovr, the only reason I prefer to use Heresphere is just because I want to stick to one player for all the sites I am subbed to.

I prefer the script delay setup in HS over DeoVR, only being able to adjust by 25ms kills it for me now that I’ve gotten it to where the movements sync so well in HS (down to at least 1ms difference once you’ve gotten good enough at tuning it)

doublevr The dude just wants it all free and doing nothing

Imagine if web browsers had to pay each site before accessing them. Web browsers are a tool that bring traffic to sites. They have developers that get paid for making the browsers. Heresphere is a tool that brings traffic to your website. You shouldn't demand a cut of the developers income to allow that.

When Microsoft tried to make everyone use their proprietary browser (which sucked) instead of the other alternatives that users actually liked, they were sued for antitrust violations. No one likes Microsoft for these reasons - they aren't customer-friendly, they are rent-seeking. Don't be Microsoft.

Wendigo YouTube, tiktok etc all proprietary

Slr works in Meta browser and AVO Safari just fine

              Not sure what's your point

The dude sells his player. He has to do something if he wants to do business with SLR and grow sales for his player

I will say it's difficult to have both an easy and intuitive GUI as well as a complex yet easily accessible feature set. Heresphere scares the shit out of everyone who first sees it, but it only takes a couple of hours to figure out. DEO does a great job at being easy and intuitive but there needs to be a hidden advanced mode to match Heresphere, with detailed menus for every easpect of camera and color correction as well as keyframing. You can't even adjust exposure without breaking the image in DEO so it's not just about features, there also needs to be work on how the image is adjusted.

And there's no compensation for scale adjustments like in HS, where distortion in scaling is well balanced through the autofocus feature. Essentially, if you adjust l/r eye distance to change the scale, in DEO you get a headache, while in HS AF helps to present the adjusted scale in a more natural way. Not sure how this is achieved but bottom line, scale / zoom adjustment in DEO is poorly implemented compared to HS.

You know what feature would leap ahead of HS? Auto color / exposure correction and auto camera correction. Basically fixing all the shit that should have been taken care of by the original studio. Just aim for that, and no need for complex user adjustments.

doublevr YouTube, tiktok etc all proprietary

Do youtube, tiktok, etc charge microsoft edge, safari, firefox, opera etc for the browser that customers use to enjoy their content to be able to access their websites? Do any of them build a propietary browser and insist that anyone that uses their website only use that browser?

                That's my point.

doublevr Slr works in Meta browser and AVO Safari just fine

Come on. Not at any decent quality it doesn't.
