rdnowvr Your CPU has a built in GPU and your motherboard has output for a display. You could offload one to it. You're mainly limited by the refresh rate, the video itself is done by the hardware codec.
1440p@165hz, that's practically the same as running a 8K display at 60hz
If im looking for 8k vr playback, is it 3080 / 70 or 60? 3060 more then half the price of the 3080.
Doesn't matter, as said earlier, the video is decoded on the hardware codec. The 3D GPU rendered graphics of the app is negligible.
A Quadro is also an option. They are also more in line with the usecase of VR video. The GPU itself doesn't really do much when watching video. Closing any other videos you have open on your system might help too.
