  • Anyone else hate 6DOF?

Same, I don't think it's very productive to just say I hate it, so please allow me to add some nuance.

6DOF is fundamentally flawed in the current implementation where appears to just move the camera relative to the sphere or whatever geometry is used to project the video on.

In a stereoscopic video, the camera is fixed relative to the scene being recorded (typically at least, some scenes have a moving camera which results in this 6DOF implementation to make even less sense). It captures a specific perspective, and the video content is designed to be viewed from that fixed point. When you introduce 6 degrees of freedom to move the virtual camera in the VR player, it creates a discrepancy between the intended perspective of the video and the perspective the viewer sees when moving their head. This resultr in disorientation and a disconnect between what the viewer expects to see based on their movements and what the video actually shows.

For me, and I expect this changes from person to person, this contributes to motion sickness and discomfort. The brain expects a certain visual stability when watching a video, and when that expectation is not met due to artificial camera movements, it can lead to discomfort and disorientation.

Unless something like view-dependent re-projection is used, this geometric warping and other discrepancies will continue to cause discomfort. Unfortunately this might not be feasible due to compute requirements and will never be able to exactly create a re-projection that is correct, but there might be enough information in the original video to estimate realistic looking small movements away from the original perspective.

Having said that, what is INFURIATING is that this option is not just on by default, but it turns itself back on once turned off. Now I am far from an expert in the field of User Experience design, but even I can see this is a good way to enrage users!

(state of the art depth estimation like this, can be useful in reconstructing the information required for re-projection)

infernohammer I honestly can't tell the difference, I don't think it's ever actually worked for me.

In heresphere you can set the right distance for the 6dof in cm (usually 65cm) and the dick will stay centered on your own no matter how you move which is a lifesaver for passthrough. Otherwise I don't care for it much either way.

Also, on deovr enabling the 6dof disables proper alignment making it useless for me as I do use the alignment constantly

infernohammer passthrough fake 6dof is getting better with upcoming updates. What's more important it has nothing in common with the real volucap 6dof we are actively working on

doublevr wow! Real 6dof, its my dream. Think of the vouyer scene, just wow. Think of a girl undressing with a deepfake of someone.

      When will you release this?

Also, must say, the last pt was amazing. I can see you are taking the company in the right direction. The quality in pt is pure class. Imo the normal videos are much worse picture quality also.

doublevr I actually had to google this and found this website with a sample: https://volucap.com/3d-humans/

Definitely looks very interesting indeed! So if I understand correctly this is more about creating an 'avatar', kind of like Apple is doing, so like a 3d model of the real person, combining video from different angles and algo's that can make a model look at you for example, even from different angles.

Man the future is going to be wild for sure 🙂

I just use it for up close oral to zoom with my head into the pussy. Just diving in it, magnifying into ever grooves of the pussy lips.

That's about the only time I use it. 🤷‍♂️

Hopefully they turn it off during pt cuz it turns on everything I turn on pt. 🤷‍♂️

YKBnqkvq Thank you for the detailed explanation! That certainly makes a lot of sense. I just find it puzzling why DeoVR thinks it should be on by default especially given that it's still in its infancy stage. There really just needs to be a universal option in the settings to disable it. It would be that easy.

Anyone else mad that the new Kelsi PT scene she seems kind of small scale wise and too far away? Maybe I have to adjust the height or somethjng? Because she seems too tiny in my room and the dick isn’t aligned to mine at all, it’s like just a bit too far away. Zooming in just distorts everything and so does horizontal offset so not sure what to do. Is this just the best it can be right now?

Hurto11 Everything is always too far away for me. One of the biggest reasons I don't like PT. It is really obvious in PT.
The seated position that SLR shoots in every scene is always so far away that I have to zoom so much that the girl gets weird looking.
I don't know the height of the male actor but average male height in the western world is 5 foot 9 inches or 176 centimeters. They need to get a male close to this height for the scenes to be closest to everybody.

I think a lot of men that are confident enough to shoot porn are men that are good looking and tall. You can tell that a lot of the sites use tall male actors but it hurts, not helps the scenes for most males watching.

infernohammer For some reason DEO set the default 6DOF at 2 for the PT videos. This is way to much of an effect IMO.
It can be cool if it is set to around .60. I don't know if you can change it in the PT setting or not. You use to be able to change it in the regular setting before they added a second 6DOF.

rerun119 they don't need shorter actors, they just need to learn where - PRECISELY - to place the camera so distances are realistic and angle is consistent. You have to experiment and it will vary according to the rig. Don't wing it. And if the camera is nearer/farther to the stunt cock in one part of the scene then clearly they fucked up because the viewer's dick stays at a constant distance. Most studios suffer from this inconsistency.

I mean even if they don’t shoot it perfect I wish they had better settings where you could adjust it easier without distorting the image if that’s even possible. Because using horizontal/vertical offset, zoom seems to just stretch or ruin the image. Height seemed to work best in terms of immersion. I’m only 5-7 so lowering that usually makes things looks more realistic for me and helps immseney with scale, but doesn’t help if models are too far away. I guess shooting closer is the answer but there must be a reason why they don’t do that. Maybe fov?

All negatives aside, the new Kelsi scene is prob the best PT I’ve seen to date. The lighting is done very well and it’s super clear without artificers in the background like you get with earlier PT vids. Also there was a lot more striptease which honestly is by far the best part of PT…to see the girls full body in your own room is just so immersive, more so than the other parts for me.

Hairsational If he is 5'6' then it's what @vrpicasso said. I still think a lot of studios just put the camera in the same place with tall actors, which just makes it even further away. You can just tell sometimes the guy is tall.
