I'm unable to find any way to watch SLR content using the Apple Vision Pro? Are we really defeated here?
Apple Vision Pro Fail
I'm not surprised, even Play'a VR player doesn't work and they're on the App Store for download on Vision OS.
GfLm Dang, that sucks. I pick mine up tomorrow.
Apple has not allowed porn on it's app store since the beginning of time. Deo maybe a VR player, but it is a not-so-cleverly disguised porn app, and everyone knows it. I doubt you'll see VR porn on Apple's overpriced headset
Wendigo I don't think it will be an issue as long as porn is not an integral part of the app. DeoVR used to be in the App Store and it served the same purpose then. VRB's Play'a is in the App Store. SLR's Haptics Connect is in the App Store and it is no problem to openly state things there like 'Added Kiiroo PowerBlow support'.
Play'a doesn't even work. It's just their iPad app claiming to be Vision OS ready but it's clearly not.
doublevr That's terrible, hopefully someone will get a video player in the app store that actually works. There's a lot of false and misleading advertising going on about the Vision Pro (VP). SLR has posted at least twice about how great Vision Pro will be, clearly talking out of their asses, since the SLR website's immersive hub cannot play WebXR videos on the VP, with no hand selection method, and no hands-free selection method. And SLR are not alone. All the front pages of one competitor's websites, who also cannot play VR videos on the Vision Pro, are literally using the Apple logo, almost certainly without Apple's consent.

Still claiming Play'a will work

While DeoVR has updated their previous blog post which was too optimistic as well
https://deovr.com/blog/80-vr-videos-on-the-apple-vision-pro
I am wondering what's the way forward towards solving this issue. Do websites like the SLR Hub need to be adapted to AVP (for example because they expect controllers but there are none)? From the DeoVR blog post, I understand DeoVR is blaming Apple for not supporting WebXR as promised and will just be waiting for Apple to fix the problem.
There's one VR website mentioned here on Reddit that plays WebXR content in Safari. The player has a limited but working hands-free way of handling viewers without VR controllers. It's not great, but it shows that all these folks making excuses, are just that, making excuses for their inability to get the job done. FYI, I've been a software developer for 18 years, so while I'm sympathetic, I also know the score.
GfLm I think this website was just lucky because they had implemented gaze-based operation of their player since cardboard days. So then the conclusion is: Safari is able to play the videos in the right way, and it's the websites' fault that you cannot press play.

SchnuppiLilac Everyone knew the Vision Pro was coming. IMO anyone whose area of expertise is VR should have been learing and implementing WebXR “hand-tracking” features to let users interact with their content. Related post on reddit.

[deleted] Unfortunately the posted fix didn’t work for me - please keep pushing on this, thank you so much!
"An ode to my last night suffering with being able to see the space between the pixels on my Meta Quest 3 while trying to watch VR porn, breaking my otherwise pristine immersive experience,"
Oh com on, it's not that freaking bad.
Not bad at all.

"Apple founder Steve Jobs' hawkish anti-porn stance, which he called a "moral responsibility," seems to be holding firm with its latest big-ticket offering, making it not all that surprising that people can't download VR porn apps directly to their Vision Pros.
But as other immersive porn fans have mused, it's "pretty shocking" that they haven't been able to get web-based alternatives to work."
Smh, if that 3500 + dollar thing don't play vr porn, smh epic fail
But maybe there's hope
""As the report explains, Apple has since 2022 allowed the use of WebXR, the API that VR porn makers typically use, on its Safari browser. Vision Pro is supposed to support it as well, but it apparently doesn't. The prevailing Reddit theory as to why it doesn't work is that until now, VR pornographers haven't needed to optimize their videos for Safari, so they just haven't — but if they want to capture the Vision Pro audience, which seems sizable indeed, they'd better get on that""
optimize! Lol
Hope they get it working, I'm curious how it will work, will your hands and arms be in front of the vr image? What will pt alpha/AI AR videos look like? Thats what I wanna know.
One more quote
""There are some dedicated VR porn connoisseurs who have changed settings in Safari to optimize WebXR themselves, but even they say their limited success has been full of glitches and isn't much better than the flat 2D porn that does load on the Vision Pro's browser"
Smh

Just wanted to post an update.
About two hours ago, I finally figured something out, and I'm now on my way to porno bliss. I'm usually incredible with tech, but there's always something new to learn.
In my case, I had to learn that Apple devices (including the Vision Pro) can't handle HEVC MP4 files tagged as HEV1. The files need to be tagged "HVC1 to enable them to play nicely with quicktime" See my source on this.
All of the high resolution 7k and 8k VR porn movies I've downloaded are tagged HEV1. I guess there is technically some small differences between HEV1 and HVC1, but you can "remux" the files very fast (500x) to tag them HVC1. You need the ffmpeg command line tool (google it). Then, you can remux a file using a simple command like the following:
ffmpeg -i my_hev1_file.mp4 -c:v copy -tag:v hvc1 -c:a copy -c copy my_hvc1_file.mp4
Once I'd tweaked the mp4, I copied the file to the Vision Pro. If you need help with that, maybe just put the file into your iCloud drive because your Vision Pro should have easy access to your iCloud drive. I used a SAN server. Anyway, on the Vision Pro, you still need a video player that can play non-spatial VR files. Remuxing with the HVC1 tag isn't the same as re-encoding the file as an Apple spatial video---although that's possible, but a lot more time consuming. I'm using version 1.2 of that lame Reality Player, which cost like $9. I was going to ask for a refund, until I figured out the issue here was HEV1.
Good luck

GfLm I believe that is an app problem and not a device or OS problem. Good video player apps can play both fine without the need to remux.

milky97 there are no PT options in that Reality Player. In fact, the only option besides play/pause and a slider bar for progress is picking the VR format of the video, i.e. SBS 180. There are only 4 choices.
The 7k and 8k VR files look amazing. But even the 5k and 6k files are really good. It's remarkable. I will be going back and watching some old favorites again, for sure. The performers really come to life, beats the pants off my Quest Pro. Now that Reality Player app struggles a little if you move your head too quickly, you get what I'd call the VR equivalent of tearing, like if you've ever played video games on a display with a fixed refresh rate, and your GPU couldn't quite keep up.
The Vision Pro will pass through your hands any time they are in frame, so if you want to see your cock pass through, just wrap your hand around it. LOL
Hairsational Yes, the only VR-capable video player available on the Vision Pro, besides Apple's spacial video player, is a dog.
Man, whoever gets high res VR video files working well on a mass scale on the Vision Pro first in a reliable way is sitting on a gold mine.

This is HUGE news:
Not sure if you know this project but this guy is making all kinds of non steamVR hardware, like the PS5 VR headset, compatible with SteamVR. This guy is EXTREMELY skilled so there's no doubt in my mind that he can get the AVP going with SteamVR. Hopefully pretty damn soon!! So that will open up all porn apps, all gaming apps on SteamVR
Also the fact that he says 'coming soon' makes me believe he already had a first look at it and I'd say he has found that it's pretty much unprotected (unlike the PS5 was), otherwise he would not say 'coming soon'. So this is really good news.
GfLm You're awesome. THIS WORKED!!!
GfLm does reality player play back in 60fps for you? My tests all show something closer to 24/30fps

Hi guys, you should now be able to access the videos through our Vr mode from WebXR.
To access it do the following:
- Open sexlikereal.com on the browser on headset
- Open video you wish to watch
- You will see VR glasses button on the player panel.
Click it and Enjoy VR player
crankypants very likely not 60fps, Reality Player seems like someone's prototype app. It just barely managed to get the job done, but the future is beautiful! Warning: Reality Player doesn't have a mode for handling Fisheye/200° VR Porn.
Kieshi when I click the VR glasses button, it launches into an immersive player, but it is just audio and a gray screen. Any idea what I’m doing wrong? Tried turning the WebXR flags off and on again and restarting, same result.
Same here, audio but no video. The resolution dropdown is stuck on 1080 as well.
Getting closer!
Can you guys please check once again now?
Click on the glasses button to oven immersive mode and see if it works
Kieshi immersive mode works and i see the play button and my virtual hands and pointers, but the entire screen is grey. i also dont know how to select anything, but somehow got play to work but still all grey
Kieshi still grey with audio for me.
Kieshi cleared cache and tried again. No change
harigeharry Need to take that back about Ivry's hack 'coming soon', I understand they dont even have an AVP yet and will only get one by April, damn ...
harigeharry do they know they can just walk into an Apple Store and buy one?

Am able to get into hub and view a single frame (mostly by exiting immersive mode and going back in). Other than not playing video, somethings off with the 3D when looking at a single frame. Zooming out it 0.8 helps some. Also can't seem to select 8k or other res. Also need to make sure to confirm cookies pop up which was a little small.
From the regular site, can switch to immersive mode via the VR goggles once video has started, but getting the same gray environment with audio only that others have described.
