Replace Reverb G2 with Quest 3 ?

Fed up with cables and WMR, but wondering how Quest 3 manages streaming quality? Will i see absolutely no difference in buffering time and overall latency? Put on headset, launch DeoVR, stream right away? Decent wifi, 600Mb/s and good latency.

Yes, exactly that.

I made the same switch and wouldn’t go back to Reverb just for the sheer ease of use of Q3.

People talk about bigger FOV etc on quest but it’s not much different, and comfort and image quality on the reverb stacks up really well. Q3 has more noticeable screen door, but the edge to edge overall clarity is way better.

Q3 is just way more useable.

DavidZS Just be prepared to spend money on a 3rd party face gasket and maybe even a headstrap. Some may say its not too bad but or me the Q3 was really uncomfortable and I couldn't stand to have it on for more than 15 minutes. Out of the box the Reverb G2 is waaaay more comfortable.

I can't answer technical questions, but I have both and I find them equally enjoyable. I love pass through on Quest 3. For local files, I prefer the Reverb. I can't remember why. I seem to remember having trouble getting to my local files on Quest 3 without the cable.

One thing I recommend for Quest 3 is getting a battery pack to extend play time. This one works fine for me and it wasn't expensive, but I'm sure there are plenty of others that are good, probably better. I didn't want extra weight, so I didn't mount it on the headset, I got a bit longer cable and I set it on the desk or sofa.

Just do it. Also I think the G2 doesnt have passthrough? This really is a game changer in my opinion, the passthrough movies are just WAY more immersive than the VR ones.

Ok so Quest 3 is great, PT is great, wireless is great, but of course Facebook ruins it all with their fucking stupid "please don't sue us for bumping your head" even in passthrough mode. What's the workaround to get rid of the boundary? Apparently app devs can disable it, why would a video player require boundaries?

DavidZS Since I have Q3, I even forgot about the boundary until you mentioned it. On Q2, I was reminded of it all the time. Not sure if it is because of the device or improvements in the Quest OS. I am always in the same room when watching and 'painted' the boundary along the walls of that room and that seems to be working for me.
