There are scenes which are, literally, unwatchable. Here's an example: https://www.sexlikereal.com/scenes/eat-cum-worship-feet-cei-40460 (comments disabled, surprise surprise)

No way should the "Netflix of Porn" allow content on the site which gives the whole site a bad name. It's time to lay down specific production specifications which all content must adhere to. Minimum resolution, refresh rate, bitrate, scaling / alignment, being true VR etc. Because right now I see comments on Reddit where people say "why is VR porn so shit" and it's because of the terrible, poorly shot and edited scenes which plague every aggregate site and which apparently NO ONE including those putting the scenes out has even watched with a VR headset.

Please give someone the job of watching all your new content - IN VR. If you already do this, either they are failing or your quality thresholds are so low as to be meaningless.

I understand there's pressure to include as many scenes / studios as possible and you don't want to upset producers. But you cannot allow unwatchable crap on your site if you want a premium experience for the user.

Or create a new category like "amateur" which is clearly labelled as such and where all the failed VR experiments can be hidden from the mainstream user.

Maybe a compromise would be giving low quality videos a certain tag that users can filter by similar to Show JAV / Compilations

This would naturally lower their exposure/views which would hopefully motivate them to spend time / money improving their videos. For every upload that gets a low quality tag, send them a helpful email explaining why and suggestions on how to improve their work to improve view count/earnings.

Over time the threshold for "low quality" will naturally be raised

It's a better alternative than outright banning them from uploading imo - maybe at one point in future SLR will strive for quality over quantity and enforce minimums on video quality but for now we're gonna have to put up with it

I haven't seen OPs video so not sure what the issue is but for me AsiansexdiaryVR is one that immediately comes to mind, shaky hand-held blurry low quality cam, if the guy upgraded his camera and used a tripod he would be reeling in the views! Maybe they think 2D and VR video recording can be done the same way..

In this case it seems like a big rock to roll to get SLR to commit resources to something that has very little downside for them. As long as they can maintain that roster of 1000s of videos, the average quality will probably be good enough for them.
However, if the vid is question is really that bad, you'd potentially get a response by engaging with the studio directly. At the very least you'll have another avenue to express your concerns (since the vid comments are disabled).
      The studio's SLR comment page:
      https://www.sexlikereal.com/pornstars/cupacakeus?comments=1
      Or any of their socials:
      https://linktr.ee/cupacakeus

fuccaneer A lot of these studios don't care about quality either so contacting them directly would likely be fruitless. Pressure would have to come from SLR but they only care about quantity from what I've seen.

fuccaneer has very little downside for them

The downside to SLR hosting unwatchable content should be obvious. It's why I can't upload my home videos to Netflix - although at least you can actually watch my videos, unlike some scenes on SLR. Curation is an important part of any channel which wants to capture a mainstream audience.

As for me educating some random indie studio on SLR, nah. That's not the point. Their comments are disabled for one reason only, but I'm just using them as an example. It should be impossible to stumble across scenes which don't meet a minimum technical threshold. Protect the channel's brand, don't dilute it with pond scum. I want SLR to succeed and I also want a smooth user experience, and these desires are closely correlated.

First of all, I agree about that specific studio (claiming to be 'one of the top amateur VR porn studios in the industry'). As a matter of fact, I have been complaining about them in the forum myself. But in my view, this extreme level of unwatchability without any improvement over time is quite rare. Moreover, the sandbox in the app is some sort of curation (quality and niche-wise). Apart from that, I would like to be able to decide for myself what I am watching.

Curated playlists might actually be a nice feature but the full catalogue needs to remain accessible to satisfy all subscribers. People who don't want that have all the means at their disposal to customize their video feed by hiding all content from certain studios, performers or entire niches.

I also doubt that the presence of lower quality content will keep folks from subscribing. Is it a problem for Youtube? Will people not use Spotify because there is content they don't like? I think for many, including myself, an important selling point is the virtually infinite amount of content to choose from. I think the daily amount of new videos coming to SLR (maybe one to two dozens) is quite manageable and still too low to lock out new content creators on a learning curve.

In fact, at this point I think that this kind of quality protectionism would only harm SLR or even VR porn as a whole. The established top VR studios hardly deviate from the most popular formula, I haven't noticed any established 2D porn companies that would have the budget for high quality entering VR and joining SLR lately, and indie creators with low or no budgets would never be able to gain a foothold.

SchnuppiLilac SLR literally describe themselves as the "Netflix of VR Porn", so according to that ambition curation is important. This doesn't mean that all lower quality scenes are removed, but they shouldn't IMHO appear in the main feed alongside everything else. It gives a casual user the wrong idea. There is some fairly terrible small budget content on Netflix, but you have to look for it.

Youtube is a less passive approach, putting the onus on the viewer to seek out their ideal content, alongside recommendations. I'd say Pornhub is along the same lines.

Maybe you can't be both youtube and Netflix / Disney+, maybe it's a conscious decision for the site to decide what kind of experience the user expects / requires. I'd say the technical side of VR makes a premium feel with curation more appropriate than the Youtube wild west approach.

            Hey,
First of all, thank you for bringing up this topic. I really appreciate your feedback, and I’ll be happy to receive more on a regular basis.
Since the beginning of this year, my position in the company has changed, and now I’m in charge of all content-related matters on SLR. I’m in the process of revamping the entire system. Aspects such as content quality standards, QA approach, content tagging and filtering, community engagement, and communication will be reviewed and improved. Stay tuned!

Thank you for the link and the suggestions. We use a Sandbox for low-resolution and/or low quality videos, and the one you posted will go there as well. However, you have the option to hide any particular scene, studio, or tag from your feed. Check it out by clicking on the three dots menu at the scene thumbnail.
In any case, our QA approach will be improved, and scenes with similar issues will go to the Sandbox. I’ll create a separate forum thread for reporting quality issues.

Yes, the quality threshold is naturally increasing. I can see a growing number of 8K videos and a decreasing amount of 4K and 5K content. Of course, we still have amateur-looking content filmed with old equipment, but even genuinely amateur studios are improving their quality. So there is no need to ban them.
It is up to the content producer to deactivate comments for a particular scene. We will get in touch with the studio to fix the issue with the scene.

They shouldn't and they won't. This is a question of content QA and we are working to improve it.

Thanks for listening @bruce - and good luck with this task, I know it's not at all simple.

vrpicasso Minimum resolution, refresh rate, bitrate, scaling / alignment, being true VR etc. Because right now I see comments on Reddit where people say "why is VR porn so shit" and it's because of the terrible, poorly shot and edited scenes which plague every aggregate site and which apparently NO ONE including those putting the scenes out has even watched with a VR headset.

I think many of the points you raise here is the reason many niches and kinks fails or garner little attention. There are studios on this site that shoot content I love in 2D but I can't watch these scene from these studios in VR because the quality is horrible- low resolution, terrible scale, wrong angles, stomach camera, out of alignment and I could go on.

The content could be great if they just made some changes but the studios or person shooting them are often out of 'reach' - meaning they don't respond to constructive criticism and continue shooting the same low quality content over and over.

I've stated it before but at times I find myself speculating if some of these studios on SLR are just a single man's production that is more about fueling that man's fantasy of fucking mediocre pornstars and VR is just a way to fund this interest. As such he has no interest in changing as it spoils his fun.

            yes I sometimes find it very very sad that certain scenes which could be great are spoiled by for example horrible colors, distorted faces etc etc; but hey, that’s life too! I personally download all the extracts systematically (and yes, each person has their own neurosis) and if something might interest me I download the complete scene and cut it; I make my little library of jewels; it's like in the movies: there are people who will keep what others call turnips (French expression); well it’s like that; In any case, there is something for all tastes. but it's not bad that there is still a minimum required (but hey it's not simple: where to put this minimum);

Totally agree with this sentiment. Most days I usually see only 2 or so videos after logging in even remotely worth watching because of my filters. Even then when I go to put the headset on I’m usually hiding half of whatever is left after looking at it and seeing the usual “gotcha!” moments where the video is subpar to the thumbnails. This site chose quantity over quality years ago.

diwanga Totally agree with this sentiment. Most days I usually see only 2 or so videos after logging in even remotely worth watching because of my filters.

Exactly. With my filters, I get maybe 4-5 new videos a day, and lately they are all from studios I just haven't gotten around to filtering yet. Seems all the quality players have left the site, but we still have the "world's biggest library" of mediocre VR. Now with SLRO taking a nosedive and devoting resources to PT and PT AI, it's just bleak.

BTW, my dashboard shows 7277 total videos with my filters on.

Hairsational Funny enough they're shooting with a stable camera. Not 100% sure if it's the same guy or not though
