First of all, I agree about that specific studio (claiming to be 'one of the top amateur VR porn studios in the industry'). As a matter of fact, I have been complaining about them in the forum myself. But in my view, this extreme level of unwatchability without any improvement over time is quite rare. Moreover, the sandbox in the app is some sort of curation (quality and niche-wise). Apart from that, I would like to be able to decide for myself what I am watching.
Curated playlists might actually be a nice feature but the full catalogue needs to remain accessible to satisfy all subscribers. People who don't want that have all the means at their disposal to customize their video feed by hiding all content from certain studios, performers or entire niches.
I also doubt that the presence of lower quality content will keep folks from subscribing. Is it a problem for Youtube? Will people not use Spotify because there is content they don't like? I think for many, including myself, an important selling point is the virtually infinite amount of content to choose from. I think the daily amount of new videos coming to SLR (maybe one to two dozens) is quite manageable and still too low to lock out new content creators on a learning curve.
In fact, at this point I think that this kind of quality protectionism would only harm SLR or even VR porn as a whole. The established top VR studios hardly deviate from the most popular formula, I haven't noticed any established 2D porn companies that would have the budget for high quality entering VR and joining SLR lately, and indie creators with low or no budgets would never be able to gain a foothold.
