Is it just me or 60 fps videos play much slower in DeoVR compared to the default player on PICO 4? I mean they do not feel smooth like they should, instead it feels like I'm watching 30 fps videos or something. The very same videos play much better in the default player so the problem is in the player I suppose. What could be the reason for this?
60 fps videos do not feel as smooth as they should in DeoVR on PICO 4

puregreen Hey, this has been reported by some other users and the developers have an open case for this, so we expect a fix soon.
In the meantime, we kindly ask for your patience!
[deleted] hi there, any updates/ETA for this? really hoping for a fix since there's basically no other player with scripts support on PICO 4... thx

puregreen The devs are currently testing out the new version of the app but still no exact ETA.
Today I was so happy to see a new update for DeoVR queued on my PICO 4 so I installed it right away only to realize it's about a new default page setting and other minor stuff but not about the fps fix which I believe is much more important than most of the other issues. That made me extremely sad oh well.

puregreen Hey, I was just talking about this in the thread https://forum.sexlikereal.com/d/6586-whats-wrong-with-deovr/15 so if you can share any information about this there and if you can also provide the additional information from my last message in there, it would be very much appreciated.

[deleted] oh... looks like I should have clarified this in my initial message but I'm not actually using PC whatsoever (since mine is not powerful enough lol), I'm watching the vids straight from the headset, and I download them beforehand to the device so it's not even about my Internet connection. That's why I believe it's a software-related issue, not hardware because like I said PICO 4 plays the very same vids perfectly in its default player.

Also, an interesting note, the fps counter in DeoVR is apparently glitched - it shows 70 fps on average even on an actual 30 fps video...
Come on guys, more than a month passed already, it can't be that hard to fix... do you need some help with testing it maybe?
[deleted]
puregreen Hey, this is actually quite hard to replicate and find what is causing the issue, but the devs are quite optimistic that this will be resolved soon! In the meantime, I ask for some additional patience!
[deleted] what exactly is hard to replicate? just buy your devs a PICO 4 (since apparently they don't have one or never actually tested any playback on it), play any vid and you will notice the issue immediately lol
[deleted]
puregreen Hey, the devs actually do have these devices too! Can you advise if the issue remained the same even after the latest update?
Also, we suggest if you change any of the sliders such as sharpness, etc change it back to default settings as any of these settings can have an impact the performance.
[deleted] If the latest version is DeoVR v13.15 then yes, it's pretty much the same and the difference is still very noticeable. I guess the devs would mention that in the patch notes if they fixed it, but there's nothing about that there. I'm not using the sharpening thing or any other stuff, everything is at default values. And by the way, the default video player plays the videos perfectly smooth even WITH the 'enhance video quality' setting turned on (I believe it's also sharpening and even color correction on top of it or something), so it's all about the poor optimization of your player, not hardware limitations!

puregreen Hey, I appreciate for your confirmation and providing that context! I will pass this on to the dev team.
bboy7895 Have not tried factory reset... I don't have a Quest 3, maybe DeoVR performs the same there. I'm talking about the difference between DeoVR and the default PICO player, you don't see the difference between these two as well?

The fps counter does not count the fps of videos but is a representation of your headset refresh rate settings in the DeoVR app. If you are getting 70 fps it's probably set to 72 Hz. I understand Pico 4 supports 90 Hz, so you could try if it helps changing the refresh rate setting in DeoVR from 72 to 90.
