  • SLR Originals Casting - November 2023 update

Hey All!

It was hinted at in the "SLR Originals reset plan - Nov '23" thread, but we have some new plans in place (and some further plans that we're still working on) when it comes to Performer Castings for SLR Originals. And since Casting Suggestions have always been a HUGE part of the SLR Forum, we wanted to share a bit of the behind-the-scenes strategy with you all:

The short version is that:

1.) we'll be reviewing casting & performer suggestions from just about everywhere: first & foremost your performer suggestions right here in the SLR forum, as well as suggestions from other VR forums, from Reddit, X/Twitter, the SLR Discord, etc.

2.) The most popular, most frequently requested, and/or most liked & upvoted performers will be added to our internal "Casting Pool", which simply means that they are on the list that our production teams use when planning bookings.

3.) We will ALSO be adding other performers that we come across who we think could be a good addition, for example new performers who may not yet have been suggested, someone who has had a scene(s) that performed exceedingly well on other sites, performers who have requested to work with each other, performers from various niches who may be under-represented in the suggestions, etc.

4.) Our production teams will continue to have total discretion when it comes to booking talent and especially new performers, as they communicate directly with agencies much more frequently and can quickly find out about fresh talent. @simsensemedia is a perfect example when it comes to successfully casting a huge number of awesome new performers.

5.) We'll be working on stepping up communication between the entire team when it comes to castings, whether that's improving our turnaround on a booking for a new performer to be the 1st to get them in VR, or reassessing a planned booking if we think the performer or pairing isn't a good fit. This has been a significant opportunity in the past.

    In case it's relevant, maybe you can indicate which shooting locations you will be using, to avoid that pairings are suggested that will not be feasible due to performers not working in the same area. Unless you will fly them all in 🙂

        SchnuppiLilac Yep, good call! Even though many performers do travel between FL and CA these days, still often tough to get schedules lined up/etc. Definitely much easier to pair up locals 😃

          Can we get any kind of preview on what castings are in the books for the next few months or so? Also, as I suggested in the other thread, it would be great to have at least one pass through scene with some of the more popular/commonly requested performers. The tech/resolution seems to have gotten significantly better, to the point where some of the older passthrough scenes(really anything less than 8k imo) really don’t hold up that well. New shoots with some of those early girls would be cool! Obviously this is a lot for you guys logistically. Thanks for being open to feedback/suggestions.

            justsomedude101 Sounds intriguing. I was not aware you have had your hand in casting as well! That is good to hear, since you are always on these forums and should have a good grasp of what people want.

            While no specific casting has been mentioned just yet, I think it's important to cast bigger scenes with more scrutiny. You know how I love my harem / reverse gangbang scenes, but for me I think it's stronger to have 5-8 amazing talents that look good together, rather than a larger group of 10+ that don't really fit as one. The DreamTeam harem was an exception to the rule... All 10+ performers were top notch. Wish we can see the quality of that casting again soon.

              It's pretty disappointing to suggest somebody when they are only casted for one of them and possibly the one you don't like yourself or don't even be able to enjoy.

              Honestly, I have zero motivation to suggest anybody since the Anya Olsen thread...

                  Let's be real... everybody making suggestions will continue to suggest performers located in different parts of the world without any regard for where the performers or producers are located.

                        SimsenseMedia has been absolutely killing it with castings, and aside from flagging down specific performers for him that are going to be traveling to FL, are brand new to an agency, are camgirls who reach out to us, etc., there's no sense in changing things. He is, however, shifting focus to include far more bgg+ content for AR/Passthrough.

                        It was mentioned here, but my understanding is that productions by Alex Mack are being lowered quite a bit, and this is an area where (as I hinted at originally) - communication around castings is and was a big area of opportunity.

                        Nash is once again planning to incorporate more bgg+ content in his releases, but in general I think most of us would agree that his casting choices have been consistently great over the years. But he often asks for casting & especially pairing suggestions, even if he doesn't have as much time these days to interact here on the forum.

                        And since we're always looking for new producers and directors, I guess only time will tell whether or not there will be any noticeable changes 🤷‍♂️

                        Good question, which coincidentally we were talking about internally the other day. Do the folks in the community prefer to know what we have booked, even with the risk of disappointment with specific bookings falling through?

                        We were debating whether to continue announcing bookings, or whether to change it up to only announce it when performers have already been shot 🤔

                        You definitely can, but I think it would come down to what your expectations are tbh: if you (or anyone) suggest a performer, ask that they be shot for VR, but expect us to specifically avoid shooting them for AR/Passthrough even if the opportunity arises, I can tell you that won't happen and you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

                        But as I've mentioned in a few threads in the past: I don't think anyone here has the slightest issue with booking performers that have already been shot by SLR. I've never once heard any of our producers or team say "No, we don't want to shoot [insert name] because she already shot a scene with SimsenseMedia/Alex Nash/Alex Mack/etc.".

                                    hoping it's not the death of regular 1 on 1 scenes, aka intimacy in VR. Just so you know not everyone are into BGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. Skipping the recent PT scenes cuz of this. And anal should be welcomed too. Focusing on 1 niche is never good. As much as I kinda hate PT, at least I was sure not to have a single BGG+ scene. I know many people here are into it, so I'm not gonna forbid you and stop your from doing BGG+ but I'm sure I'm not the only one here thinking it kills intimacy and thus makes PT even less interesting than it already is. I don't want a bordello at home. And you know what happens when you start to skip scenes eventually...

                                        I can't imagine there will ever be a point in time when b/g one-on-one scenes aren't a mainstay of our content. Whether it's specifically planned (which is often), due to a cancelation of a 2nd girl, etc. etc. etc.

                                        But for the last several months there have been far fewer bgg+ scenes than we've typically had on average throughout SLRO history, which is why I mentioned specifically focusing on increasing the qty of those scenes.

                                          Alex nash and Bggg+ scenes? Sounds amazing, those are my absolute favorites even if some of them are shot on the old camers. For instance the raw raboo cat one or the kate blossom mile high media ones are amazing. And the other reverse gangbangs.

                                          If Simsense casting is great and Nash’s casting is great, what exactly was meant by improving casting logic? It sounds like you’re all pretty happy with the casting how it is.

                                          I can’t really comment on Simsense as I don’t watch PT scenes but I don’t understand the logic of getting brand new girls for VR scenes. It’s literally the worst place for them to start as the whole scene and whole story rests completely on their shoulders. Experienced performers are much better for VR than brand new girls who don’t know what they’re doing in my opinion. Much better for new girls to start in scenes where they don’t have to worry about acting or remembering lines, they just have to learn how to have sex on camera. They can then come to VR when they’re more confident and experienced.

                                          As for Nash, I wish he’d cast some different male performers. It’s incredibly dull to have the same guy in every scene, especially when he’s probably nearly old enough to be these girls grandfather! I can’t imagine it’s too much fun for these teenage girls to fuck some old guy in his 50’s or older.

                                            "Great" doesn't mean there's no room for improvement, especially with a renewed focus on multi-girl scenes, as well as potentially longer-term with any new producers we may partner with down the line/etc.

                                              This has been discussed a lot, and I completely agree with you. The only answer that fits the rest of my experience here is that SLR seems to be more interested in novelty than quality a lot of the time. I think this is because they are very tech-focused rather than creativity-focused - tech culture embraces that "move fast and break things" nonsense and seems to believe constant novelty and change = innovation.

                                                I think it might have to do with cost. The more experienced hotter chicks cost more to book and they’re harder to book because they are in demand and have choices.

                                                Who the hell cares about the male performer? Never understood this. You’re jerking to the girl not the dude, it’s just a dick, I don’t pay attention to the male even an ounce when I watching. People are insane to let that affect their opinion

                                                    Hurto11 lots of people care about the male performer. Some will complain about tattoos, skin colour, body hair, how handsy they are, if they breathe too loud. None of those things are an issue for me. All I’m interested in is if they can make the scene look good on camera.

                                                    Only my opinion but John Strong is too short to make doggy style look good. The girls have to go super low for him to be able to fuck them and even then he’s having to thrust upwards. Even in flat porn, he was never good at it, he was too short to kneel behind the girl so had to kneel on one leg and stand on the other to get himself high enough to fuck them, especially for anal.

                                                    By porn standards he’s also not the most well endowed guy either. Not that I need huge monster cocks but VR doesn’t have close ups, the dick is a fair distance away from the camera at all times so has to be big enough to look impressive when fucking the girl from a distance. John Strong scenes don’t look impressive. When the girl pulls his dick out and is all “oh my god, it’s so big”, we can all see it isn’t. Despite having a smaller dick, he also never seems to let girls deepthroat him. Plus he’s an old guy, he’s been in porn forever so you know these young teen girls are fucking someone probably old enough to be their grandfather which is a bit creepy. It can’t be too much fun for them to fuck this pasty, short old guy rather than someone they might actually be turned on by.

                                                    I’ll give him that he’s reliable, he doesn’t seem to have wood issues and he turns up and does the job. The scenes don’t look impressive though for all the reasons I’ve said, it’s just boring to watch for me.

                                                    None of this would be a major issue for me if he was one of a revolving door of male talent. He’s not though, he’s in pretty much every single scene by Alex Nash on SLR and now on VRSpy. He even dragged him over to Europe with him to shoot all the European girls. I don’t know what he does that justifies this slavish devotion to using him in every scene.

                                                    It’s doubly boring then to have the same guy in every scene especially when he brings nothing exciting to the scene in the first place.

                                                        I agree that doggy isn't great in Nash scenes but I don't think it's because John is short. A lot of the girls are tiny and even shorter than him. It's probably more of a direction problem because differences in height can easily be worked around by getting the girls to spread their legs more, having the guy stand on something, etc.
