hypertsunaz Agreed! Finding unique sets is harder than you might expect for vrporn, but also one of the things that helps the most with storytelling. Only so many scenarios can play out in a living room or bedroom
I'd also love to see a scene set in a convenience store, or a coffee shop, or an elevator... Hopefully we'll be able to find some cool settings to bring some variety to SLR originals :)
I can't tell what the exact stories are in JAV because I don't speak Japanese, but as a JAV fan, I think I can tell the themes.
My favorite theme is when the guy is put into a circumstance where he is used by a group of young and apparently inexperienced women to sexually experiment. I think the language barrier helps -- I don't know what they are saying, but I can imagine that they are saying things like, "Oh, so this is a penis? If you stroke it, it gets hard? Let me try that." And then they seemed surprised when it happens.
For me, I don't think this could be effective for anything other than JAV. I wouldn't believe that a western young woman could be so naive. And I know that Japanese women probably aren't that naive either, but for some reason, probably the language barrier combined with how young many of them look, enables me to pretend that they are.

argyle43 I can get past it, but after seeing uncensored it’s really disappointing, sometimes with VR content it can break the immersion watching a head bob and down on a bunch of pixels. Jav content is still my favourite, but the censorship in Japan will always be comical to me, just seems pointless in this day and age
MatchaSLR I don't think it's the language personally. Imo it's mostly the overacting and tired old lines from western porn. Also, most JAV actresses seem comfortable and more genuinee. That's probably a large part of the acting or they shoot differently who knows.
As for delivering the actual lines of script, that's a little harder to judge as a non native sure.

Back to the topic at hand, in my opinion, one of JAV's strengths and what they are known for are their epic harem scenes. Both in 2D and in VR. No one does it quite like the JAV industry. Many of these JAV storylines are along the lines of:
Heck just a few months ago there was a VR harem called "Harem Sex Room Escape Plan" lol
Anyways, my point is... these epic scenes tend to have 4-7 women in the series. Usually has an intro scene to set up the premise, a BG with one of them, a BGG with two of the women. a BGGG with three of them, and then a finale harem with all of them. Usually some iteration of that. It's fun building up to a big group scene, IMO. It always keeps me hooked on watching to see how it all plays out, And that way, people who don't like too many performers at once still get to enjoy the first few scenes of the series.
g2kbuffetboy yes the harem scenes are some of the best scenes. Also amazing how they manage to keep such a sense of intimacy while simultaneously keeping so many girls in view. Didn't mention it myself only since I didn't consider it a story per se but I for sure agree
MatchaSLR it's more for the Demon Nun/Succubus scenes as they do this in the JAV succubus as well. Sort of helps lock in the feeling of having betrayed those you care about for the pleasure of banging a hot nun who is revealed to be a demon, and you realize it is so fucked up and frightening yet you are engulfed in so much pleasure by this demoness, that you lose the will to resist and can only think clearly in your mind , but on the outside your body has fallen victim to her seduction, etc. The perishing part is just a great way i guess to end the scene so it doesnt feel awkward after having played the Succubus as an evil being that seeks to dominate you and break you until you are helpless and implies that she will continue her goal to do it to others and you won't be around to stop her from doing it to other unsuspecting individuals. That's pretty much why it ends like that. Some JAV scenes that have the cute Succubus that aren't malevolent , end with you just passing out and she continues to do this for what is assumed to be your entire life. I find the malevolent hot gorgeous succubus theme to be much hotter especially in fantasy. 
fenderwq i have like 10 + JAV titles subtitled by a professional, and man does the subs make a huge difference. They are all on par with what we heard in Modern Relationship scene by SLR Originals. And even more so the Cosplay scenes that make the actresses jump into a character from whatever show it is from. It's the dialogue and the way they feel way more genuine. Something i've tried to include/capture in whatever story scripts i've come up with lol.
Avakian Yup can confirm, i have subs for this and OMG its fucking amazing seeing what she is saying and man the language just makes story immersion that much better.HUGE difference. And this scene is scripted so yup its a solid one and truly messed up playing a husband who gets seduced by the Wedding planner

Rarely do i see the same quality in acting as they do with dialogue and story on western side with harem. a build up to the harem does wonders as each a tress gets to build their character and then at the end we enjoy them all and their characters interacting on the POV
