I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I am noticing a phenomena where some members of SLR community engage in a war anytime a particular scene does not go their way. The most classic example is when a scene has some or all non-POV views, and some POV fans will commence to "wage war" in a struggle to make all content cater to their personal taste.

It's one thing to offer constructive criticism, point out opinion on what could have been done better, or request for additions, etc - but it's another when people are being negative and destructive sheerly for the sole purpose of pressuring conformity.

This should go without saying, but variety is the spice of life. No matter who you are or what you like, you should welcome variety because that facilitates the entire VR Porn world to grow, and it is that growth which will produce more overall content that you will enjoy. If everything produced is vanilla, many people outside the vanilla realm will become uninterested, and that results in decline.

Niteflyte Take it from someone who’s been arguing for more variety since the moment I put on a headset. No one is interested, the owner isn’t interested and people who participate in the discussion aren’t interested. They all just want the same vanilla girlfriend simulation porn and that’s pretty much all that gets made by the big studios. The only innovation is around technology (cameras, passthrough etc.) not around the actual type of porn being made. I’d almost applaud the ghostbusters thing if it wasn’t executed with such little thought or effort.

The non-pov stuff I think is always going to be a losing battle. I would imagine the vast, vast majority of people spending hundreds or thousands on VR are not doing that to watch the same voyeur porn they can watch on their phone except in 3D.

Niteflyte Hey I'm new to these forums, and I know I'm inviting flames just for saying anything, but I agree that variety is the spice of life. Some things get some people off, different things get other people off. ME PERSONALLY, I think VR is best utilized by allowing the viewer to POV pretend like they are having an intimate/sexy/filthy experience with the performer. I like the immersion of feeling like I'm there as the partner of the performer. But that's just me. Maybe other people like VR for the ability to feel like a voyeur/cuckold watching other people get off. Maybe pretending that's their partner/husband/wife getting pleasured by a half dozen other people while they enjoy themselves in the corner. That's up to the viewer, and over time, there will be a large variety of scenes or experiences or whatever. Maybe everyone should just try to remember that this is a pretty new medium, a new avenue of sexual experience, and @BursVR (is this even the right tag?) SLR is trying to make a fuckin' great nut-busting experience, ok? There won't be perfection. They can't program a perfect erotic experience into a sex robot, not yet. Maybe some day...but you have to be part of that process 🙂

petermc I don't agree that "no one is interested". I see new formats and independent studios popping-up. The growth is definitely not very strong imho, but it's there.

I also highly disagree that voyeur is the same as 2D only in 3D, but that's just my take.

petermc Yeah I don't think non POV porn works very well in VR, because in VR it is like you are there. A non-POV scene would be like you were just in a room and watching some other people having sex, which is kind of weird. With POV you are having 'virtual' sex with the pornstar, which makes sense.

I do think the variety has been improving a bit over the mostly vanilla scenes. I have seen a lot more dirty talk scenes with more interaction, and even some choking lately. VR does make it a bit harder to do, because you have to setup the camera in basically a fixed place, which limits some of the natural interaction that I think performers would normally have. I think a lot of the pornstars are getting more used to VR now though.

On the bright side we're starting to get to the point where niche studios & productions are becoming more and more sustainable for VR content creators, which is a hugely significant factor in the variety of potential content.

VR has always been a small/niche market in the grand scheme of all things porn, but the larger and more popular it grows the greater the likelihood of specialized studios creating specific types of content: niches/fetishes/styles/etc.

Niteflyte when I say “no one” I don’t mean literally no one. Obviously you and I would like to see more variety and some others too but most people on here do not and we are therefore shouted down by the large majority.

I also agree that some small independent studios are doing different things, a number of them are doing non-pov stuff, others are doing anal content, others doing harder, rough sex content. SLR however are sticking to generic vanilla POV content. They have obviously just attempted something different with the Ghostbusters thing and it has not had a warm reception. Whilst I am not against gangbang scenes, I am one of those who thought this one was very poorly executed.

I respect your take on non-POV scenes, obviously it’s all subjective but I think it’s a hard sell. I personally don’t get any more out of watching them in 3D than I do in 2D. The experience doesn’t feel enhanced significantly for me. Like I’ve said in the past though, I don’t need every scene to be what I want but it would be nice to have a mixture of stuff so some scenes are more in line with my tastes and some in line with other people’s tastes. It’s no problem to me if non-POV is a part of the mix.

Non-POV is unpopular, what do you expect? Especially when a studio that does 99.99% POV content does a non-POV scene out of nowhere with one of the most popular girls around.

All I did was point out that non-POV is not popular amongst the wider VR audience and, given that fact, you shouldn't be surprised about there being some haters. Nothing about that is disingenuous or me being "so up in arms".

petermc Fair enough. I would just say that it's good to express desire/demand for the non-generic content. I've seen a lot of new comments/reviewers doing that lately (myself included), and I think it's slowly inspiring people to know they aren't the only ones. I also think the producers are starting to notice, despite all the outrage from some very loud ragers, who are most likely incels that've never been with a girl before - which is why I think they get so excited over the vanilla format of a girl in front of them (doing the exact same things, in the exact same format, with the exact same script, over and over again, I might add).

On the voyeur, I also respect your taste, and am not trying to debate nor convince you when I say this, but I'd just share that for me, VR is basically you being in the room, and is entirely different than watching a 2 dimensional clip on a screen. In the VR format, having a camera in non-POV roaming around the scene is basically what most of us would do if we were in the room watching. We'd be looking from different angles to see the girl and/or the action from various views. And while sometimes the POV view is great, there are many times where it doesn't show the best aspects of what is going on. For example, a girl in doggy-style position you simply see her from the back - and lets face it, at least half the time it isn't even a good view cause either you're seeing the dude's stomach or you're seeing half of the girl's rear because of poor camera position. In contrast, a view from the side or side-front you get to see the girl's entire body in action, her facial expressions, etc.

I guess I'd also add that I think a huge part of the emotion, not from you but from the POV rage community, is from males of this new generation who have very little or no experiences with a real girl, and so to be in a first-person position is extremely exciting because it's something they've never done. For those of us who have actually been with many women in the past, it isn't nearly the huge thrill, and we have greater desires for a lot deeper pursuits.

Either way, it's subjective as you said, and this is just my take.

Blanket assertions like this aren't helpful. Variety in scenarios, outfits, locations, etc, I'm sure would be welcomed by most. Variety in terms of more niche content that only appeals to smaller and smaller groups of people? There will be people who don't like it and some will be vocal. There's an almost infinite number of niches/fetishes and only a handful of studios who are producing VR content, so the content that has broadest appeal naturally wins out. Until that situation changes there will be a lack of more niche content.
